Cool, really glad you like it, a definite +1 for Sibob and a +1 for the Clarett 2 Pre; incredible (both of them!). The latency is so low, and the sound is so good I use it for all my home headphone practice now! Thanks Sibob.
Yes! It has been a joy to use! My upgraded IEMs also arrived yesterday. I spent the whole evening last night learning songs for a gig using the two together. Great sound. The lack of latency is just mind boggling. I know Focusrite wouldn't make things up, but to max out my machine and the interfaces to not even break a sweat is a superb when dealing with 48+ tracks of audio and recording at the same time. Thank you Sibob. Very pleased - Love the Focusrite Control, especially saving routings for fast access control. Nice!
I got it as part of a £50 job lot (three guitars/practice amp) on Gumtree. It needed a load of work, but body and neck are sound. I'd like to stick a different pickup in, but ultimately it's the type of bass no one looks at twice.
That's a bargain! Interestingly, my slightly battered bass has been the subject of much discussion, especially when I also tell them how much I paid for it verses a 'real' 76 precision. What makes me chuckle is that I bought some new bits for it - and the Fender pick guard is such a close match that all of the screw holes line up! Ash + Maple win

Thank you Kevin, Thank you Lewis!
Getting into the demolition business then, Dan?
Not only that, it'd be rude not to use the other half of a 2400W QSC power amp* ... Lol *It's ok, I know I'm not needing all that power. It was a lightweight amp going cheap, so hey, what's a bassist to do

Just dropping a post in here to let everyone know how this all panned out. I must thank our very own Sibob for being absolutely ace and I now have a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre sat in my set up here. Genuinely took about ten minutes (would have been less if I had checked all my settings first) to be stunned at the quality of this interface. Thunderbolt is the way forward. I have NEVER seen such low latency figures on my kit (complete trip). No clicks, no drop outs, just superb tone. Very pleased indeed, it's a nice piece of kit that is about to make my life so much easier. Kinda wish I had it before I started recording this album! Doood

Software to split MP3 files into multiple tracks?
REAPER!!!!! It's a great DAW, but I use it exactly in this way when I need to. I can even import video files of rehearsals, snip up the audio then export as an MP3. - So an app that is great for recording is also a brilliant editor too. Visually, as you can see the wave form of when the band is playing, verses silence, you can quickly find where to snip the file up in to pieces. Once done it's a case of doing any audio editing you might want (EQ'ing or chopping out noise etc) then use the built in rendering options to create the file types you want. Reaper works on Mac as well as Windows and available as a free trial which is not limited in any way. Genuinely, I liked the app so much I coughed up for a license then and there - which was many years ago and I have since bought in to the latest version more recently.
Oh yes, and Reaper allows for batch processing too. Set up 10 jobs for ten tracks, come back later to find a folder full of Wav files -
{snip} (it's an Aria Pro-II Primary - a Precision copy).
my 76 is a Aria-Pro 'Professional'. I'm not sure if yours is the same, but I have been very lucky I think. It is an amazing player, even for 40 years old. Actually feels nicer than the current Nate Mendel P, which is based on Nate's own 71 P.

Good question! Well, my 'looker' bass is also the best sounding and the best for the job (but I guess you'd expect that from a custom build by Shuker) - but that said, I'm really enjoying thrashing the pants off my '76 "law-suit" P Bass. It's a bit dented and looks like it has had a good life. Makes a great sound, but there's also the element of just being able to chuck a lead in any amp and JUST PLAY. I'm getting a lot of joy from that at the moment. In terms of 'getting that tone', having owned my Power Jazz for donkeys years, it never actually got to gig, but since having a respray and new electronics, it has turned in to a superb plug & play instrument, so it will definitely come out to the 4 string gigs. Oh and it looks pretty now too ha ha!! I am a bit of a snob, but only that I believe in gear that is right for the job. It does what it is supposed to and that's what I want to use and support I guess!

A nice smooth transaction - No problems here! Quick, easy to communicate with, yup! Great.
I seem to be on a slippery slope. This time last year I had no effects what do ever. Not even a tuner pedal... Built in tune in amp. I bought a Zoom b3 as an experiment last year... Couldn't get on with it. Too fiddly. So I bought a tuner, EBS multicomp and a multidrive from the for sale section of the forum. I enjoyed them so I bought a unichorus. I was offered a dha bass valvedrive so took it. Liked that for a while. Worked well in the house but not in the rehearsal room. Sold that. Bought a BassIQ envelope filter. No idea why!? Just fancied it. Only ever use it for playing Sir psycho sexy in the house as we don't play it in the band. In fact... I don't really use effects in the band at all other than a bit of light overdrive and use Chorus on one song . Which is why I have now bought a Two Notes Le Bass from the sale section??? And another boutique drive pedal off the 'Bay. I need stopping! I used to wonder why folks bothered with bass effects. They are a bit like musical heroin! Is there some kind of rehab subforum? I might need barred from the classified section
BassChat is like the Hotel California. I've had a room here Since the early days of BassWorld v.1and my bank account shows it!
I hear ya !! However, if we did not discuss such things, there would be no need for Basschat or other such forums. Enjoy your snooze.
Oh YES to discussion! For sure, that's why BassChat is here. Love it! Maybe I should have said I was going for a 'sit down' he he!!

Sitting or standing, using a pick or fingers whilst plugged in to a D Class or valve amp using horizontal or vertically aligned speakers, having trouble deciding between 4 or 5 strings wondering if passive or active is the way forward - and what about this maple fretboard? I need to go lie down!

I'm afraid I don't have any 'gear related' puns in response, but I have read this post with interest! I find it fascinating to see people taking an idea, even if it is slightly crazy or just well thought out and running with it. This is certainly a proper 'high mass' bridge! With regard to the melted blob bridge, this would certainly support my theory about cheap high mass bridges discussed in another thread. Sometimes, they had be big and hefty, certainly look the part, but instead are just made from a cast using some cheap material. I can't imagine they will sound as good as a chunk of brass - I wonder what an iron one sounds like in comparison!

Here's a tip that will save much effort and will help if you practice or play sitting or standing: Sit down and set your strap length so that it's supporting the instrument when sat. When you stand up the bass will stay in the same position. Thus, all that hard work you put in to get your hands to play in a certain position isn't lost when you stand with the bass around your ankles! You may find that you will need to adjust a little bit - I'm quite tall and have a bad habit of slouching at my chair sometimes, so I have to teach myself to sit upright properly and that is where I set my strap length. After that you will find things more comfortable when switching between sitting or standing. Interestingly though, I still alway play better standing up! Try it, adjust the strap a bit up or down but don't stray too far away from the initial position IF you do lots of playing and practicing sat down. Keep things familiar and you'll notice aspects of your playing get better
