What's the tracking like on the MXR Octaves? How low can you go before it warbles? Which of the selection suggested above can head right down to the depths of the neck without giving out? Open E string territory (which I think I am right in saying won't be an analogue pedal - OC2 etc)

I'm interested to hear what people have to say about it!
After God knows how many years in sales and marketing, I have to try to make it useful somewhere in life Pleased to help. GLWTS
It did make a lot of sense and in this case it was something that I should have really done, but missed. So I appreciate the nudge greatly! Thank you!
Hey Dood, if you want to sell. Put the info on the price drop in the edited OP. not all folk will scroll down to see the last post. Trust me, I'm a salesman. GLWTS This is a serious bass at a great price.
Thank you! Will do! Good idea

I'm a great big dirty Pro! Ha! My bass & music are my sole income. Ticking along and my accountant is happy!
God, has it really been 6 years? Miss ya, daft old sod.
Six! I didn't realise that. We're thinking of ya.

Why not try the other TRBX models? The 304 is a lovely lil bass and i think the top spec is the 504. There are also five string versions too.
Yep, that's my thinking. If I get offered a gig that needs an SVT, I'll just get one
"Cash allowing" of course... I'm bust trying to sell stuff ha ha!!!
Keep it, if only to hide it away and appreciate in value.
Do you think it will? I mean, I bought my SVT for a steal at the time for £1400, I couldn't sell it for £800 as the D Class revolution had taken hold.

I used to own an Ampeg SVT 2 Pro. I dearly loved it. It did exactly what I needed and never let me down. Recorded tone was always brilliant, even via DI. It did feel like lugging a dead horse around. My back agreed. The SVT left. I replaced it with an SVT Pro all valve preamp running in to a Powersoft D Class power amp - and to be be honest, cranked, there wasn't a great deal of difference in tone, especially in a band situation. (Powersoft is a different beast when it comes to D Class though!) So that's an option to save weight. I'm running a similar set up these days but the valves have left. A serious weight saving and everything still sounds big. My deciding factor is this: If I really wanted another SVT, then I can go buy one. Tomorrow. If I bizarrely sold my Shuker, it would take a huge amount of effort and there's a lead time to get another. I'd be in for a long wait and I couldn't get one second hand. - So, if it's something that you can buy another of, then you are safe to let it go (at the cost of realising you made a mistake!) There's always an alternative too.
{snip} Re the USB issues - are you using any USB peripherals on a regular basis? I have a scanner, printer, the Motu Microbook and a Wacom Cintiq (via thunderbolt) in there all the time. The Wacom works fine, the others drop out for no reason. Maybe the issue is down to my mac rather than the OS, but I'm reading lots of horror stories online. I've done an SMC reset, no change, might do a PRAM reset to see what that does, but other than that I'm lost..
I'd been running some kit that didn't use an external power supply. The USB Interface I replaced, a USB MIDI controller, My mobile was often plugged in, an external 2.5" HDD and sometimes a hub to connect devices such as pedals or USB sticks. I then purchased a powered hub which didn't get much use which had two drives running as RAID set up by the Mac. Always on, in that case. The only time I had any problems was actually caused by one of the fans not running properly. Diagnosed the problem with a fan speed app, replaced and everything has been fine since. Really sorry I can't offer up any issues to compare! I'm intrigued as having not had any problems, I am totally unaware of the horror stories. Best I go see what's occurring! My Mac is a quad core i5 and I've maxed it out with available memory as well as a SSD for the system. I say this as these upgrades may effect the situation?

The Aguilar pickups are also very good. I love the DCB soap bars,
Although they are regarded by some as poor relations, after a lot of reading up, I fitted DiMarzio PJ s to Kert (FuNkShUi)'s camphor single cut custom job http://www.ajrguitarmods.co.uk/camphor%20single%20cut%20bass.htm Time and time again in various forums and reviews they were said to punch well above their weight, be very well balanced and also that the noiseless J was a great boon. Now admittedly I also fitted the Seymour Duncan 2band EQ for maximum flexibility, but both Kert and I have both been VERY impressed how good they sound even at fully neutral EQ. Kert has done a video demo ( I think the link is on the thread).
Yes to the Dimarzio PJ set! Definitely not poor relations and they have lots of mid grunt to them. I paired mine with a Glockenklang 3 band pre. There's a few videos on YouTube and I think the config sounds ace. I have however switched to the EMG PJ set as I wanted a clean 'Miller' kinda sound which it now does very well.
I've just upgraded my 2012 iMac to El Capitan (from OS10.7.5 - been holding off for years because that OS worked well) and found that USB is now completely broken. What have Apple done with this OS?? Devices are not showing up, there are occasional crashes when using apps that are looking for those devices, I have to restart my Motu USB interface every time I wake the machine up, I have to unplug and plug my scanner back in every time I want to use it - it's a disaster. The OS itself is nice, and my graphics stuff seems to be working without problems, but looking around online, the USB issues - USB audio issues specifically - are commonplace. So with that in mind, I have decided to give up on USB for audio and I bought a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre today. I have not even opened the box yet, but before I do, if anyone knows of any issues with El Capitan and this interface, please let me know. I'll get round to getting it all set up tomorrow, I'll report back on how it is. First observation - I had to pay an extra £50 for a thunderbolt cable to actually connect this to my mac. For a <£400 interface, this is taking the p!ss a little bit, but I'm willing to live with it if it works as well as reviews suggest.
Sorry to hear of your IT woes! I have a 2011 iMac and I'm afraid that El Cap is working perfectly. I'm not sure why we are getting different results? Very odd and I hope it's fixable for you. I have the 2Pre too and other than making sure I had the right things selected in the control centre, it has been flawless! I'm yet to max it out - the thing hasn't broken a sweat yet! You'll love it.. Oh and the lack of latency is mind boggling!!!! I'm running plugins all the time for the shear hell of it! Loads of em! Blimey! £50? Did you buy a really long cable? Mine was only about £25. It's a great interface, I love the features and it's going to definitely be on the next album I record.
We were discussing strings and it will be wearing D'addario's. A rough completion date has been given of 4 to 6 weeks.
Correct answer! He he! - Nice. Have you tried the NYXL's yet? Not long now then!!
