1. I use this: http://www.kentonuk..../usb-host.shtml Connected to a normal MIDI Foot Controller (Mine is a Roland FC-50) It will do patch changes and a few other bits n' bobs but it's only really the patch changes I wanted. By 'do' I mean convert the MIDI messages from the FC-50 in to USB-MIDI that the MS can handle. It won't do everything I understand, but for the money it does enough. Also means that my TC G-System can also control the MS as part of it's own patch changes - not that I've tried it yet!
 2. YES!!!!!!
 3. Geezer, but the sum up at the end had nothing to do with any of my choices - and my answers I suspect had very little to do with Geezer's own musical background. Bit of fun I guess. Gott a love his bass tone though.
 4. Oh and on the subject of steel strung - make sure the action is nice and low, especially check the nut height. Too high and I guarantee Barre chords on the lower frets are going to be a nightmare for small hands. My last bit of advice is to take a good guitarist or teacher with you when you got to select one as they *should* spot all of these things quickly.
 5. There are some truly horrible 'children guitars' on the market. It seems that 3/4 sized guitars usually have 3/4 of the amount of time and effort spent on them to make them good. Nylon strings are usually kinder to small hands but, most Nylon strung guitars have much wider necks, so little hands will struggle anyway. I learned when I was around that age on a steel strung and I was fine, so I'd recommend the slimmer neck over the wider with the nylon strings. If you can't find a smaller guitar that plays very well, your next option I suppose is a full size - but go for a semi-acoustic, as they often have thinner bodies and sometimes bowl backs which mean smaller frames can reach over. Also, the 'Parlour' body sized guitar is much smaller than the Dreadnought or Jumbo body of a 'full on' acoustic guitar. I suppose there's the smaller size guitar such as the Martin 'Ed Sheeran' guitar which is downsized. Quite a nice little machine. Also, go with well known brands to begin with. Yamaha etc etc. I'm currently playing Faith acoustics and they are really nice.
 6. Roll up Roll Up folks!! £325 for an 800W lightweight amp AND official foot switch. It's in excellent condition and has never been mistreated. As I've said before, I don;t really want to sell this amp, but I have set the price to move quickly. It's all parcelled up and ready to go. You can arrange your own courier, collect or I will arrange shipping for you, it's all good with me. Ridiculous bargain right here!
 7.
Yeah, that's what I thought... :/ Haha, "legend"... But thanks, I guess We're kinda already in a band together. We just have to tweak it some more!
Hell yeah we are Feel lucky to know ya buddy! So, I never wanted to put this bass up for sale anyway and despite the bills not really going away, I'm withdrawing it and other stuff will have to go up for sale instead. Frankly daft giving this away for such a huge amount off, right?
 8.
On selling a bass at a £100 loss to me, I recently got one of, "Please can I have it for £25 less than the asking price, and INCLUDING shipping to Poland?" Shipping to Poland will be another £45 off as well. (£25 shipping, £20 insurance). Naturally I bit his arm off! Why miss out on a chance to make a loss like that! You don't get those chances every day!
Yes, "I want £50 off and shipping thrown in" is not ever going to be well received on an amplifier that is so cheap already that units that are considerably less powerful are going for more money. I just can't make it more of a deal than that lol.
 9.
I used to have a summer job in a cannery. We made beans for a couple of supermarkets as well as a couple of well known brands, though they all came from the same factory, the recipes and manufacturing instructions were actually all slightly different. Maybe it's the same with strings?
In some cases, yes it certainly is! Building to a different 'recipe'. Another manufacturer that does similar is Eminence who make speakers for a lot of companies building speaker cabinets, however there will be such a difference between one 10" bass speaker verses another that they will be incompatible in the same cabinet despite being visually the same to the casual viewer.
 10.
The Gallien-Krueger effect: I think that might be a little different!
The Freddie-Krueger effect.. Wow, I could go on!
 11.
Great name for a band. The Dunning-Kruger Effect. I like it.
The Gallien-Krueger effect: I think that might be a little different!
 12.
You don't mention musician do you ?
It's ok, I'm not a musician. Well, I'm not sure now that I've read this thread. lol
 13. Lots of power here for just 6Kg! It's a very shallow amp too, very little depth to it, so don't worry, it doesn't hang out of a shallow rack case! Easy to carry, two channels, both with DSP and lots and lots of deep clear headroom.
 14.
Not just when selling musical equipment, but when selling anything, the question I hate the most is "What's the least you'll take for it?"
Or being really cheeky with a low-ball offer, which there are a few basschatters who are maybe guilty of and I'm not just talking the odd £20 here. It's frustrating enough when the market is so slow that you offer up an item at a vastly reduced price to sell. You think you are passing on the good community spirit, something I've always tried to do. Do unto others and all that kinda thing... hmmm!
 15.
I don't think I could cope with a relationship with someone who was either actively or passively opposed to my playing in bands. {snip}
Well, once they've taken your self-belief and confidence, they might as well strike off your passion too.
 16.
This nails it for me. Everyone has their own interests and foibles and trying to change or restrict a person seems a recipe for an early parting of the ways to me. Why would anyone want to do such a thing to someone they purport to love?
Indeed. I agree.
 17. Quick sale needed - it's all parcelled up and ready to send. USB, power and foot switch cables included. PM me!!
 18.
So I put my Orange head and cab up for sale, here and Facebook. I mentioned in the advert that I was selling most of my backline because the band I've just joined don't want amps and cabs on stage. Might have something to do with an 8k rig, 7 PA speakers either side of the stage and 5 monitors. I got several responses on Facebook about "what sort of band doesn't have amps and cabs on stage"? A couple of the responses, you'd honestly think I had made it compulsory sacrifice of 1st borns. Am I missing something?
They are the sort of people who spend too much time commenting on YouTube videos.
 19.
Crikey. I always thought anything around 40Hz and below was like being rogered with God's mighty gut-jumbler.
Ha ha ha!!!!
 20.
You know when your eyes light up and your heart's lifted by a thread title; heft, punch, growl, utter bollox? Edit: describing sound is like trying to describe an orgasm.
Oomph, punch, heft, growl - yeah that's pretty much how I'd describe it lol On reflection, probably best not.
 21.
Where does Oomph start and end, then?
It ends before the Pah, Pah!
 22. Then below that you get the pillowy low end cuddle of a 40hz boost!
 23.
I dunno, I'd put 'heft' at around 120Hz which is where the 'power' of a bass guitar lies, but 'punch' I'd place a bit higher up in the mids somewhere. Of course I have no idea what I'm talking about, as usual.
Oooh, I think I'd put heft in at 80hz shelving, maybe as low as 60hz.
