1.
I had used them lots and even recommended them to people they were fine until they smashed my gear up then they did not want to know so obviously I do not use them or recommend any more I now use parcel force 48 they are probably no better if something happens but at least they are a few quid cheaper
I can't risk sending kit worth as much as a bass guitar if I know the insurance is worthless - hell, I don't know why we have to pay insurance ON TOP OF the cost to send parcels anyway. Talk about advertising incompetence.
 2. A Fender Power Jazz Bass Special in Candy Apple Red. I was 13 I think. I still have the magazine clipping too! It took me over 15 years odd to finally getting one. It's serial matches the magazine clipping year too by coincidence. I've since upgraded it with a sexy flip paint finish, EMG pickups and a Glockenklang 3 band preamp. It's a great little bass and it isn't going anywhere. However a second one has recently joined the flock and it is a stunning example that will probably get some sort of update treatment too. Somewhat humorously I think I got the first one around 2007 time, I'm not sure - Anyway, it never gigged until this year!
 3.
I. Used to use them until they smashed a bass up I sold it was in a case then a box and they would not pay out when I claimed as they said the case was not correct packaging wtf. Oh and if your unlucky enough to deal with a lady called Amy she is one rude bitch
Oh dear! That doesn't sound good at all! Slightly worrying as they request instruments sent in cases and I too also use shipping cartons where possible. It seems the couriers that do care are in a severe minority?
 4. I found Direct Courier Solutions who specifically 'do' musical instrument shipping with Insurance. I've used them and had no complaints but I know they are less known so didn't find any reviews online.
 5. Chameleonic. Modest.
 6. Yup, I've just been reading the news myself. I've worked along side Cass for many years at Guitar Interactive Magazine. We saw each other often between filming, I'd recorded demo bass for some of his tracks in the past and I was fortunate enough to have performed my favourite MC songs with Michael on stage a few years ago. Totally in shock, I could't believe what I was reading. A great musician with a huge amount of talent taken too soon. RIP Cass.
 7.
It's tempting. How many amps do you get out of that setup? I have a few digital pedals
Genuinely, I've not charged my pack for weeks and I've certainly had the equivalent of three gigs out of it powering 4 pedals. - It does of course depend on the current draw from the pedals as to how much life you get. It can vary greatly!
 8. I'd love to have a look inside - my SVT2 Pro (an older model) could easily withstand knocks and drops throughout it's life on the road. I'd be concerned where the cost cutting was made in this copy. Cheaper components? Poor soldering? Weak PCB boards?
 9.
You're lucky. I can't remember where my car is. *Mumble, dribble*
ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!
 10.
dood - is it any less noisy than a decent PSU?
Well, I guess being batteries only, it should be dead silent in comparison as it is never connected to anything that can create noise. Yes, a really good quality power supply shouldn't be allowing any 'noise' through anyway, but we do know that some pedals don't seem to want to play ball together with certain types of PSU. In laziness, I like this method as it's one less lead to have trailing. (Which given the placement of power sockets in some venues and rehearsal rooms makes for a little less hassle!)
 11.
Well, you should have been practicing like this lad......
The days of yesteryear where I spent many, many hours being able to just shred my bass. I think age 13-14 I had mastered many of my favourite albums. I'd get home (which was miles from any of my friends) and spent the evenings playing a whole album from start to finish. This was, of course pre-internet and I spent countless hours in front of my cassette player, betamax video player and any books I could borrow so that I can learn these songs myself. I wouldn't give up until I'd got every note sounding right! I can only apologise to my family members who had to put up with it night after night. I'm now approximately 100 years old, tired, worn down and unable to remember where my car keys are.
 12.
I'm not surprised with all those strings on a bass Thanks for posting the pic.
Ha ha ha! Yes I have to admit, the latest projects and bands I've been playing with haven't really needed anything below Drop D or 5 frets above! It has been very liberating turning up with a battered old P bass instead!
 13. I use something like this with eight Eneloop high capacity rechargeable AA batteries in. Being rechargeables, they are 1.2V batteries, giving me a 9.6V output. Great for pedals. Some of these enclosures need rewiring for the correct polarity but it's a 5 minute job. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-AA-12V-Battery-Holder-Case-Enclosed-Box-With-On-Off-Switch-/262096603493?hash=item3d062cc965:g:rBMAAOSwx-9WxT1T You can find them cheaper than this for sure. I think I paid about £2 for mine - it has a power on off switch too, which means you can leave all of your pedals attached to each other then use the master power switch to turn all off at the same time. You could even use one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hot-Selling-12V-Battery-Clip-Slot-Storage-Holder-Box-Case-For-8pcs-AA-Batteries-/281845780265?hash=item419f514f29:g:GBwAAOSw5ZBWNvda Interestingly, I haven't recharged my batteries in weeks and it is still going strong!!
 14. Yeah, I'm game - here's an oldie. I look a bit older, a bit more stressed and way more tired..
 15.
Saying that, i would assume they're the same. £37.99 is the RRP and JHS are the distributor for Wilkinson so will quote the RRP
Yup very likely to be what's causing the price difference. Recently I bought a product shipped from Germany that was cheaper than the quote I got from the UK distributor (yup sans shop mark up) So in a U.K. shop that item would be very expensive in comparison. It's not the fault of the distributor though - and a situation that will probably only get worse post EU exit. (Slow clap but that's a discussion for elsewhere..)
 16. You're plugging in to the Orange OBC115? - I suspect that could be where your problem is as the single 15" speaker doesn't really 'do' treble. It doesn't have a tweeter either.
 17. So like BassChat then?
 18.
I'd say it's quite steep indeed. As you can see, this particular bass was 65000 yen in 1989. Adjusted for inflation, that's about £560. Very few Japanese instruments, or any instruments, for that matter, actually increase in value as time goes by. Going back far enough, a US Fender certainly does, but this is a Japanese Fender, and not one of the more famous models either (like the Squier JV series), so unless this particular model has some special connection I've missed I would not recommend paying more for it now than you would've payed for it back in the day. In fact, there's one on eBay right now (from a Japanese seller) that's priced at just under £400. Even with shipping and import charges that might still be cheaper than the local one you've found.
Agreed, A 'real' Power Jazz Bass Special can be picked up for less (I know) and would expect to pay £500 for a really good example. i.e. the odd ding but great fretwork.
 19.
Having looked at 'the' website, I am somewhat underwhelmed by the lack of recent 'tests'. A cynic (moi ?)
More likely that the available 'models' haven't changed for many, many years given the few producers of valve products over that time!
 20. I'll chime in. I am in the very fortunate position to be able to play bass all day and every day. I need strings that will last and not die off in my acidic hands! I'm pleased to report that D'Addario coated strings do indeed stay at the same level of 'twang' for a considerable amount of time. I like to try different sets so my basses also have the superb NYXLs, Balanced Tension Nickels and FlexSteels depending on the instrument. I can't say a bad word about any of them!
 21.
Uh-oh D'Addario indeed! I can assure you that faults with our strings and packaging happen very infrequently. I've sent you a PM, we'll get you sorted right out.
Yup, I agree. I have probably installed hundreds of packs of D'Addario strings over many years and have never had same. On the subject of faults, nope never had any problems with the physical strings either. Never a dull moment in D'Addario world A++++++ as they say on eBay!
 22. I kinda agree. It works but there's definitely better. A current favourite here on BC is the rather cool Line 6 Sonic Port that connects to the lightning / 30 pin socket for IOS users. Apogee Jam is very cool and apparently iRig's own HD interface works well though I've never tried it. For apps, I'm all over Positive Grid. They can't do a thing wrong from desktop apps to mobile devices. Jam Up Pro is great as is BIAS which allows you to create your own custom amplifiers should you fancy it. I do and tend to do so when I'm recording on my Mac.
 23. Deal with confidence! - Just sold my lovely 62RI to Alain - a flawless sale with great communication and lots of chat about Bass
