1.
No, really, just Fortunately my oly/tort itch will soon be scratched in a different way, so GLWTS!
Thank you! It certainly is a corker!
 2. As requested, here's some images - I've enclosed all of the bumps and bashes in high res. 3.
Do you have the original non hip shot D tuner? What's the weight like? Any chance of more pictures, particularly (for me) back of head stock where the end of the neck joins. and just overall condition of neck (reverse). Does it have a case of any sort
See first post, yes a hard case is included. According to the bathroom scales here - and I hold no responsibility to it's accuracy, a snip under 4.1Kg, though in use, as the bass has premium Gotoh Resolite tuning keys, there's very little noticeable shoulder drag. It's a very well behaved bass. A non-D-tuner key can be swapped in to the place of the D-Tuner which matches the rest of the set. I will upload more pictures later. Back of the headstock and the rest of the neck is completely unmarked. No signs of distress or wear round there. Little fret wear, really, in superb condition. The body as I said in my first post shows signs of wear with some scratches and dings around the 'bum' area. There's also a bit of buckle rash that hasn't broken the paint work - but really, this is all reflected in the price of the bass which is frankly a give away.
 4.
where are you based?
I'm south of Norwich
 5.
Cheers Dood, i will check out the DCX stuff.
Happy to help!
 6. Here's an absolute beauty! I'm planning a new bass so this one (which to be honest is too similar) is up for rehoming. It's a really good example though it does have a few natural wear dings and scratches. Nothing to get too upset about - it's real wear and tear though, not a fakers delight. One long one across the front edge and a chip in the paint. Alder body Maple Neck Rosewood Fretboard Vintage Spiral bridge Tortoiseshell Pickguard Vintage Olympic off-White (YUMMY!) Vintage size frets Feels like rolled fretboard edges (way better than the Nate Mendel model for example) UPGRADES: Dunlop Dual type strap locking buttons Premium Gotoh RESOLITE ultra-light Vintage reverse tuning keys ~ £90 online HIPSHOT D-TUNER!!! ~ £75 online Fender neck plate Plays like a dream and sounds like a '62 should. I'll put new strings on too if I have a spare set. You could say this bass is VSP/FSR spec with extras Comes with a hard case - you can collect or you can arrange shipping. Contact me for details. PM PM PM!! MINIMUM PRICE ALREADY - THERE WILL BE NO PRICE DROPS - I might have a think about trades though, but unlikely to be a bass.
 7. Definitely try the X models instead (DCX for example) as they have a more traditional and slightly less hifi tone. Or if you want to try something a different size then the Alnico EMG's are really nice. Coming away from EMG, well I love the Aguilar DCB - a great sounding passive pickup - The Delano SBC is very nice too but has a different flavour. Nordstrand, I think the big singles are superb and would love to give more of Carey's products a test drive for sure. My 'grunty' pickup of choice is a Dimarzio P style but this may not fit the configuration! I need to try some J styles, just a shame Dimarzio don't do soap bars!
 8. Just beautiful, I've eyed this bass up more than once I can tell you. Jon's work is impeccable and I'd recommend him without any hesitation. The man has golden hands when it comes to luthiery and boy does he know his woods and electronics. He's designed his own preamps too from scratch and they are very good indeed. Oh and visit his wood store at your wallet's peril for no one leaves that building without drawing up a custom order yippee!
 9. Ah! Good song! Will definitely cue it up in the morning for a trip down memory lane
 10.
So dood, care to enlighten us on the purpose of this poll?
Ahhhh BRX, the reasons are two-fold! One to generate some proper bass related discussion but also, i wanna try a bass with a huge neck and there's nothing to get my hands on locally to test the theory - Although my local music store is getting a Mike Dirnt Road Worn in for me. Tonally, I would love to see if a big ole bass neck has a bigger low end etc.. Stuart Spector believes that larger necks do improve tone - one of the reasons why he was a little reticent to shave wood off Doug Wimbish's beloved 'number one bass'. A story Doug retold to me. Anyway, I wanna try a big neck and if there's tone advantages, then great. Just wanted to know what the readership thought!
 11. Really good! - A great watch, but I really want to see it again to listen with decent speakers. The bass is fairly prominent in the mix at times and Alex's bass tone is really tasty!
 12. Hmmmmm, I love my prog and great to see VW involved but the clip was too short to get me interested as it kinda sounds like stuff I was playing ten years ago or more.
 13.
Duh, of course. Got it.
Heh heh no worries!
 14.
Cool idea - will check it out. Do you just search for the playlist and add yourself to it?
Click the link in my signature. You'll be able to add to it when it's open in your Spotify
 15.
Try the same, but with a capo at the 3rd or 5th fret. They grow very fast, do kids. Don't get an instrument which will be too small in a year or so..!
Yes! I've done this too! There's a cool side-effect as well - it can pull the action down too making the guitar easier to play! (If there's a bit too much relief in the neck without).
 16.
because as a noob, the bell and whistles of non-restricted DAW's just serve to confuse the issue. Studio One Free, is a complete DAW without the frippery.
I think I'd still nudge you towards Reaper then Could be one of the least confusing DAWs I have used. Studio One (Free) I didn't actually get as far as recording a note as nothing seemed to do what I wanted. lol. Sibob is right though, if it works for you, it is all that matters. Everyone has their own preferences
 17.
Can the poll have an "oh no, not this again" option?
I wasn't aware of a thread that specifically address the size of the bass neck, but yes I do know that 'tonewoods having an effect on sound' has been discussed. So, nope, that option isn't being added :oP
 18. Poll added. Long detailed answers very welcome!
 19.
Anyone else using this? I've finally got a decent laptop and interface and am going to try to use it, complete numpty and technophobe that I am.
I installed it, found it to be a massive faff and went back to Reaper. That said, I have friends who love it.
 20. Mid punch = Dimarzio DP122 or DP146 for a bit extra.
 21. I'm investigating the opinion that the outputs need to be separate. I'm a fan of active electronics, so I'm thinking about getting the tone right from the bass first maybe with some sort of custom filtering and certainly active mixing rather than a passive pan pot (yuk). As for the neck pickup, well, inside the casing of EMG pickup soapbars, they are all rail type, so that might be my way forward. You could stick a big fat MM pickup in the neck position and it wouldn't matter about string spacing. Even the passive EMG's, the HZ models are rails too if you didn't want to mess with active units. So I may test that theory. My other current fave is definitely the Aguilar DCB soapbar, just a beautifully sweet sounding pickup. Not surprisingly my ear likes it as the EMG sized model is pretty much the same type as the EMG DC, a big fave of mine. i.e. dual rails. The Aguilar I think has the nicer tone between the two - sweeter, yeah, that's the right word - but the DC is great for cutting through as it has a nice peak in it's top end. Mmmm decisions decisions! As for the Will Power - well, I really love the Dimarzio P style pickup and I have a Will Power P model here to install at some point so maybe it'd be logical to get the matched pair. If someone had a set of pickups from the BB714BS model, with the neck rail pickup, i'd probably rip their arms off as a great donor pickup. I like rails.. rails are nice!
 22. It's alright! Don't worry, we're just happy you're all fixed again!
 23. Nice! - I have a QSC power amp that I really like. A good performer, so something for bass specifically from 'Q'? Mmm very interesssssssting!
 24.
I'd also count a fingerboard as another lamination - there's a glue join there and often a difference in material and density/hardness.
Unusual for a manufacturer to count it, but you are so right! Just because it's not part of the initial neck sandwich, it is still part of the rigidity I guess!
 25.
Agreed. The worst thing about Djent is the silly name!
Misha has a lot to answer for!
