The only advert I could find says that the Artiste version have a multi laminated body whereas mine is a 2 piece body as far as I can see. Jez

    Status Energy bought on here from Absolutepepper, 1996, ash body, 2x hyperactive pickups, maple neck with dual graphite rods, jazz size neck, pre-shape active electronics - volume-pickup balance-active treble cut/boost, fitted with Rotosound flatwounds, nice low action. There are 2 marks on the bottom of the bass, some slight wear on the body above the neck pickup caused by someone`s thumb and a couple of dinks on the top edge of the headstock which are not visable form the front. Frets and the rest of the bass is in good condition. I will put the 3 original strapbuttons back on before sale. I`m looking for £320 or might swap for some ampage of the same value. Would prefer collection or would meet somewhere handy for both parties. Not wanting to post. Any questions, ask away.     The Wilkinson brand is well respected in the 6 string world and makes some good gear. I have the vintage style tuners on my P and Jazz. They are bloomin good and only cost £24 a set. I always meant to get one of those bridges. Nice. Jez

    The Affinity has the small sealed tuners whilst the Standard has open gear style ones. The A has a alder body and the S has a agathis body if I remember right. What differance this makes, I couldn`t tell you. Possibly better quality of maple used for the neck? I have owned a couple of Affinity`s, a black one and a lovely 2 t sunburst and they are decent enough basses. And you can pick em up for about £60 s/hand. Jez

Whilst I agree that they ain`t the be all and end all of bass guitars, most of the best music up to about 1975 was made with Fender bass guitars. I have owned lots of Fenders but I also own and use other makes. Can you not come up with something original as we have had loads of topics that go "Fender`s are crap, discuss". Jez

It`s Maplins own make but it works just fine £10 All the above are in great condition and have had little use, hence the reason I`m getting shot of em. I would prefer collection on these items.     As mentioned in the bass guitar section, I bought this Japo from CC a few weeks ago for 50 quid. Cosmetically the body and headstock have some "character" lets say but it`s all been done in the course of duty! None of your fake relicing here! It has a couple of holes on the back which I assume were done when someone had moved the strap button. It`s all original as far as I can tell apart from the control knobs and the input jack that I have replaced. It sounds really good, the first 5 frets have some wear on them but its from 1983. I have fitted some barley used Rotosounds and that along with the new jack is why I`m looking for the extra fiver. It`s on the heavy side as well.     Liked Imelda on Jools tonight. The last time I watched her on the program, her bass player was playing an upright but tonight had a nice white Jazz with a rosewood board through a TE stack. Simple but effective. Jez

Could it be that the bass is a pile of crap with a dodgy paint job, the strap is held on with gaffa tape and worse than that, the knobs don`t match!! Jez
