1.
Ill check out Guitar Guitar as they have a great wide range of guitars and basses and see if theres one there
Guitarguitar do have a good range of G&L`s, unfortunatley they are all in Edinburgh!! They sell well through there apparently. If you get the chance of a second hand one, buy it! Jez
2.
And on the 7th day God rested and said to Jez....... Sorry buddy, but couldnt resist. So what kinda gear are you looking for matey????
Aye, I asked for that Steven! Don`t quite know what I`m looking for to tell the truth. I`m trying to keep to a 3 bass rule and have just got a rather tasty G&L so somethings gotta go. And as the two Fenedr/Squire`s are "hybirds" in e bay speak, the Status has to go. Jez
3.
Aren't the ones with the rounded edges like yours the Energy Artiste version? Could be wrong, but I had an Energy and it had sharp bevelled edges. Nice bass for not a lot of money. Shouldn't be on here for long.
Cheers Buddy. The only advert I could find says that the Artiste version have a multi laminated body whereas mine is a 2 piece body as far as I can see. Jez
4. Status Energy bought on here from Absolutepepper, 1996, ash body, 2x hyperactive pickups, maple neck with dual graphite rods, jazz size neck, pre-shape active electronics - volume-pickup balance-active treble cut/boost, fitted with Rotosound flatwounds, nice low action. There are 2 marks on the bottom of the bass, some slight wear on the body above the neck pickup caused by someone`s thumb and a couple of dinks on the top edge of the headstock which are not visable form the front. Frets and the rest of the bass is in good condition. I will put the 3 original strapbuttons back on before sale. I`m looking for £320 or might swap for some ampage of the same value. Would prefer collection or would meet somewhere handy for both parties. Not wanting to post. Any questions, ask away. 5. Why limit yourself to a P or a J? Get a G&L L 2000 tribute and you get the best of all worlds!! Jez
6. The Wilkinson brand is well respected in the 6 string world and makes some good gear. I have the vintage style tuners on my P and Jazz. They are bloomin good and only cost £24 a set. I always meant to get one of those bridges. Nice. Jez
7. The Affinity has the small sealed tuners whilst the Standard has open gear style ones. The A has a alder body and the S has a agathis body if I remember right. What differance this makes, I couldn`t tell you. Possibly better quality of maple used for the neck? I have owned a couple of Affinity`s, a black one and a lovely 2 t sunburst and they are decent enough basses. And you can pick em up for about £60 s/hand. Jez
8. Yet another of the "let`s join basschat because I have a bass to sell" mob! Sadly missed by all........ Jez
9.
Headstock angle detail. NB: for the joyless, hessian knicker wearing, neo-moralista PC community - please spare me the faux outrage. If you insist on sending me PMs to enlighten me, please try not to send me straight to sleep with your unwelcome inanities.
Someone giving you static? Right lads, get the capri and the tools and we can hunt them down!! Jez
10. Just to confirm, the bass was sold on saturday. I changed the heading on saturday to reflect this but I should have posted this. Sorry for any confusion. Jez
11. Molan that is a seriously good looking bass! I have never seen one of those before. I live and learn. And that Pino is a looker too Clarky. How long are you keeping a hold of this one for Jez
12. Gubbed EH Knockout gone. Could have punted it 5 or so times. Strange.... Bump
13. Never mind the sofa or bass guitars, what`s happened to the Hypno camel CK? Or was it a goat? Jez
14. Just in case ya don`t know, Rick is on Planet Rock digital radio on a saturday morning, 10am till 1pm along with David "Kidd" Jenson Inteceptor and Fiesty. A thousnad laughs and some decent tracks to boot! http://www.planetrock.com/ Jez
15. I wouldn`t like to hang by the love nuts till it`s worth £5000!!! Some people shouldn`t be allowed access to the internet. Jez
16.
... and probably most of the best music since then too.
I didn`t want to labour the point for the benefit of the Fender Nazi`s Jez
17.
I would compare them more to the original Volkswagon Beetles - didn't change or improve despite everybody around them building better items. Stuck with drum brakes and the engine in the boot they did not evolve. Same with Fenders - same crap electronics and wood from the 50s till the modern day, only recently decided to install active p/ups where others have used these since the 80s. Supposedly market leaders - basically selling square wheels!! Quality Control is merely a concept rather than reality! Some might argue that Fenders are like Porsche - I don't think this is the case as Porsche improved over the years. I think you may have guessed that I'm not a fan!!!
Square wheels? Whilst I agree that they ain`t the be all and end all of bass guitars, most of the best music up to about 1975 was made with Fender bass guitars. I have owned lots of Fenders but I also own and use other makes. Can you not come up with something original as we have had loads of topics that go "Fender`s are crap, discuss". Jez
18. Regarding postage. It`s a major hassle for me and I would rather sell locally. Cheers, Jez
19. I wonder how many pieces the body is made from as I can`t see any joins It doesn`t look like a genuine Fender sticker on the headstock so mabye it`s a copy? Sorry, I mean hybird. Jez
20. EH Nano Clone chourus pedal £20 Behringer Octave pedal £13 Soundlab pedal power for 6 pedals. It`s Maplins own make but it works just fine £10 All the above are in great condition and have had little use, hence the reason I`m getting shot of em. I would prefer collection on these items. 21. As mentioned in the bass guitar section, I bought this Japo from CC a few weeks ago for 50 quid. Cosmetically the body and headstock have some "character" lets say but it`s all been done in the course of duty! None of your fake relicing here! It has a couple of holes on the back which I assume were done when someone had moved the strap button. It`s all original as far as I can tell apart from the control knobs and the input jack that I have replaced. It sounds really good, the first 5 frets have some wear on them but its from 1983. I have fitted some barley used Rotosounds and that along with the new jack is why I`m looking for the extra fiver. It`s on the heavy side as well. I`m only getting shot of it because I find it ugly and I won`t use it. It is what it is, if you want a shot, drop me a pm. £55 Jez
22. As was said earlier, the next one! Which should be on saturday all going well with Mr Finance. A G&L L2000 tribute, sunburst with maple neck. As I will be skint after buying this, this will be the one bass. Jez
23. Liked Imelda on Jools tonight. The last time I watched her on the program, her bass player was playing an upright but tonight had a nice white Jazz with a rosewood board through a TE stack. Simple but effective. Jez
24.
Isn't 300 (+ P&P) a bit too much for this?
What makes you think that? Could it be that the bass is a pile of crap with a dodgy paint job, the strap is held on with gaffa tape and worse than that, the knobs don`t match!! Jez
