Have a read. Potentially very scary. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/genera...n_10_years.html Jez

Good choice Dave. Merchant city had a 5`er in just after they came out and it was well tasty. Luckily the credit card is maxed out or I would have taken it with me there and then. Jez

SOLD SWR Workingman 15 Combo (Pre Fender) £180
jezzaboy replied to simwells's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I had one of these until my mate blew it up (nothing to do with the combo, just a stupid twat not knowing what he was doing) and really liked the sound from it and it was plenty loud on it`s own for pubs. Plenty of sounds available from it, nice and light and easy to carry. I now use it as a 15" speaker cab and gig it with my Ashdown head. Well worth the asking price. Jez -
Aye, nearly as good as the olde Precision and Ashdown set up Runs far away and ducks for cover! Jez

As Neep says, give the G&L Tribute a bodyswerve as their necks are exactly the oposite of a Jazz neck. Guitarguitar in Edinburgh usually has em in stock. Its the only thing that lets them down if you have small hands because otherwise they are brilliant. Jez

One of the guys that works with me was in the same position. He is a talated keyboard player doing weddings and corparate work but it was slowly sapping him of his love for music so, he jacked it in and plays the occasional blues gig now and is much happier. But he has a day job to pay the bills as I reckon most of us on here have. I think you need to suss out what matters to you most and go with it. Good luck with whatever you decide. By the way, getting rid of the wife can be expensive Jez

FT: 1971 Fender Precision (Factory fretless) WITHDRAWN

For 500 quid it would need to be a decent 2nd hand bass I would think. Mabye a different pickup and a bridge? If it was me 150 tops. But mabye he really likes the shape/feel/weight of the bass and if he intends to keep it long term, it might be worth it. But he isn`t going to make his money back when selling on. Jez

Wanted a life of Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll!! Couldn`t play guitar so moved on to bass. Some people say I still can`t play bass and they could be right. Still waiting on the the first bit Jez
Makes sense to me. The fretting hand is the one that requires the most strength and dexterity. I bet more people would do the same if they were given a free choice from the beginning rather than being told "if you're right handed you must play like this".
This makes a lot of sense. Before I started playing, I had a compound fracture of my left pinkie finger which has left me with no power down that side of my left hand and my pinkie is useless and the finger next to it is not much better. When I started playing 6 string guitar, I was unable to make the chord shapes due to the injury and I started to play bass because I could get away with using my first 2 fingers. When I started to get into the bass I did consider trying a leftie as my right hand is fine and may have worked out a lot better dexterity wise. Too late now though. Jez

I have had them on a P bass and they sound good. I prefer the Half Wounds though and that is what I have on the P bass at the moment. I am pretty sure they are long scale. They are excellent strings and great value. Jez

Ah ha!!! I have found proof of this upside down melarkey. Open the link and move down and there is an interview with the man himself. http://www.watkinsguitars.co.uk/mp3downloads.htm Jez
He could be the only person in the world that has it that way! does he know that?
I also seem to remember Andy saying that it improved upper fret access on the E string. Am I the only person who read this interview? Did I dream it all up Jez
It has happened then I thought it must of! Just to be sure then he plays a left handed bass that could be given to a regular left hooker strung as normal but plays it as I would as a right hooker but the strings then become upside down? I bet he started on something symetrical like a kay SG or similar.
Nah. He plays a right handed Jazz as a normal right handed person would, but the bass is strung G D A E instead of E A D G. I seem to remember him saying that he was so used to playing the left hander upside down , that he couldn`t get used to playing a right hander the conventional way so just plays keeps it strung the same way. I`m away for a lie down. Jez
You didn't perchance read that in the Fender Bass Manual did you?
Nah, I think it was in an interview in either Bass guitar or Guitar and Bass. Jez

What's your favourite live song/performance?
jezzaboy replied to Ben Jamin's topic in General Discussion
Man on the silver mountain from Rainbow on stage. Bought the album from Stereo One in Paisley for £8.50 on the 27th of December 1982. It`s got Ronnie James Dio, Blackmore and Cozy Powell on it. Pure magic even after all these years. Jez -
To throw a slight curve ball, Andy McCluskey of OMD plays a right handed bass but with the strings reversed from normal, E where the G is etc, as he is right handed but learned to play on a left handed bass which he turned to play right handed. Confused? Jez

Get singer to stand at the back of the boozer, play Kinky afro by Happy mondays and wait for the singer to make the appropriate directions, you know, kit up, bass down. He always says the bass is too loud, so I pretend to turn it down and then he says thats much better. Every time!! Plonker! Jez
Nice job Jez
Thanks man! Forgot to mention, it`s fiited with Status rounds that have been smoothed down to feel like flats and are superb strings. If you like the feel of flats but with a bit more zing, these are the babys for you. Jez

I`ve I had lots of P basses over theyears, US ones, Jap ones but have always got shot of them because I get bored with them quickly. But I am of the opnion that everyone should have one in their collection and so, I put this together to satisfy the P bass craving when it appears. Squire body, Jap 57 reissue neck, Wilkinson tuners, Kent Armstrong Hot pickup, wiring upgrade kit and Halfords Montego red paint job. It`s sound pretty good through my Sansamp and is nice and light.
