1. Had a mark 1 version and it was a diva but far too ugly for me! This one will be a cracker for someone. Jez
2. I can`t be bothered reading all these posts again, just don`t seem to have the Tim. Did he ever re-appear or did he return to his toadstool at the bottom of the garden? Jez
3. That`s put me right in the mood for a bag of Jelly beans. Jez
4. The G&L but I`m biased. The Custom has a nice aged finish on the neck and it is so versatile, if that`s your bag. I have played/owned all those basses at one time or another. Bear in mind that the G&L and the Schecter will have less 2nd hand value if you intend to move the bass on at some point compared to the Fenders. The gloss finish on the Schecter will be as tough as old boots and would need to be "sanded" down to remove some of the finish. The Laklands are good basses but have you looked at an Ibanez sr500? It has the same pickups as the Lakland if I remember right but is around £500 new and are well put together with a satin finish to the back of the neck. I have owned a few Ibbys and they are great value for money with consistenly good QC which cannot always be said for Fender. Jez
5. What are you moaning about? The guy is throwing in a Ritter gig bag for free. Some people are so ungrateful. Jez
6. The chap he bought it from said it was a defect bass. Was this the same Chinese guy who was selling the bootleg porno dvd`s at the same time and he got a discount? I love the way he can tell it was a vintage and genuine item as soon as he played it. Someone is gonna be so ripped off. And you would think that after spending all that time with a Dremmel on the board, they would have got a genuine looking Fender decal. Jez
7. Do you think that there is a "Slappers Anonymus" where they all get together in a soundproofed room and slap to their hearts content and talk about us "non slappers"? Jez
8. Always the same. Some people pick up a bass in a shop and right away the slap fest begins!! Gets right on my wick. I often wonder in what musical contex do they use it? Level 42 tribute band? Only thing that should be slapped is Jackie Wright`s head from Benny Hill. Jez
9. Steve, I know that you reherse on a friday, but one of the bands I know are playing the Glenhead Tavern in Glasgow road Duntocher next friday and Truckstop`s idea of going to see a good band is a wise one. They are a good, tight band and you should take em down and say "this is how you do it" and see what they say. Some of my lot are going down too. As for spending months in the rehersal studio, we practice a song on the tuesday and gig it on the saturday. It sometimes sounds sh*te though!! Jez
10. Tributes but still a great bloomin axe!! And, I don`t belevie it, guitarguitar is cheaper. Never been known. Jez
11. Steve you sat on my sofa a fortnight ago saying you loved the amp!! I think you said it in the last post, you may be chasing the tone now that your guitar gas is sorted. Rhino fro the Quo now uses Markbass gear. You don`t get any more rock than that!! Jez
12.
Try here for electronics stuff: http://www.axesrus.com/axeWiringBass.htm
That`s the one that I got for my bitsa P. Decent enough gear and they are good people to deal with. Go for it! Jez
13. I have never been in that section of the site and even if I did, I don`t think that I am in any way qualified to comment on another players abilites or lack of. That`s my excuse anyway Jez
14. Everyone should have a P bass bitsa. Mine is a Squire body, Jap Fender 57 neck, Wilkinson tuners, US Fender pick up and a nice wiring kit. I really love my G&L but as said earlier, the fact that you have made it yourself, gives you a bond with the guitar. Jez
15. I seem to remember one of the mods mentioning in the past that they prefer to keep the item description intact as it helps when people run a search on Google or similar. It direct`s non members onto the site. I have no problem leaving the details of a sale but if people want to remove the info for a reason, then it`s up to them. If you suspect dirty deeds, walk away. Jez
16. Another vote for G & L. It`s the most versatile bass, imo of course, with enough sound permitations to confuse a monk fish! And even though mine is a Tribute model, the build quality and finish is top notch. The perfect bass for the busy semi pro in a function band. Jez
17. Tb, don`t be down hearted. I`m am possibly the most un-talanted (no my mistake, I am the most un-talanted!) bass player on this site with a big gob to match and I play in a reasonably busy covers band. It`s all about getting together with a decent bunch of like minded folks. The 4 of us get along pretty good apart from the occasional dose of lead singers disease. Start your own band? Time for a Basschat group hug Jez
18. Aye , well handy for spotting E bay rip offs!! Jez
19. I`ve just sent the same pic! But yours looks clearer. Spooky. Jez
20.
Maybe she was offering something that Liz didn't.
Like what? Go on, tell us. Or should we ask Shane Ward? Jez
21. I ordered a T bird from them on the sunday, got it via DHL on the wednesday. Well packed and in perfect knick. Did I read somewhere that they were going to open up a store/warehouse in England? Jez
22.
The question is: what if you never got paid again? Would you just play for the sheer enjoyment? Would your band still enjoy the gigs, knowing there was no payment for them?
I would rather be out gigging, not getting paid than being a bedroom bass player anyday. Nothing against people who are bedroom guitarist`s mind. Jez
23. We have done a couple of charity nights in the pub when we take our fee from the landlord and donate it to the charity that is hosting the night. That way everyone get`s something out of it. It`s good karma man! Wouldn`t do it too often to be honest but once in a while is ok. I know that a lot of bands up here that play original material struggle to break even on the night. Jez
24.
What a cock! I really can't stand the guy. I really don't rate him as a bassist either....
Ah well, that will be another profesional bass player who is a member of basschat who will not bother us again. Really, is there any need for this level of abuse? Jez
