1. We only play localish pubs and have done about 20 this year. We could have done more if the singer`s wife allowed him to out more!! We must have knocked back around another 10 and a couple of functions. Our last gig is on 11th of December as the singer has a couple of night`s out to go too. Yes I am slightly pissed off. Most of the gigs have been busy except for a couple in the last week of the month before pay day. As for next year, we have 26 lined up the now. Dinky doo!! Jez
2. If it makes you feel better, at the weekend I`m called Susan and wear a latex dress. Whilst playing the bass. Hang on, this is the cross dressers forum isn`t it? Jez Hang on, it`s 6:30 on friday. The weekend!! Susan.
3. Just had a look on Far East guitars and he has sold this cracker......... http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/usedjb3.htm Tasty!! Jez
4. Not enough to justify the differance in price! Having said that, if you are thinking of splashing the dosh Wayne, why don`t you look for one of the Jap ones. They look the real deal and seem to go for between 500-700. Jez
5. I haven`t owned a JB but I have owned 3 L2000 tributes and use 1 as my main gigging bass at the mo and they have all been excellent. The build quality and finish is spot on and all 3 have have proved themselves on countless gigs. I would value them well above the quality of a Mexican Fender and I think that most of the guys on here who have them would rate them quite highly. Jez
6. Practially priceless? Practially brainless I think is more apt! Jez
7. Cheers Phil, your a starr!! Jez
8. I know that the question has been asked before but is anyone gigging with a PA cab as a bass cab? Having ran a search, I see that some people have used them for rehearsing. I was thinking of getting a Peavey with a 15" driver. I recently went and watched a local covers band and the bass guy was going through the pa and was just using his combo as a monitor. Don`t get me wrong, they had a sound guy and were using Mackie active speakers for the foh but it got me thinking. Opinions/advice? Jez
9.
I'm afraid it's entirely false. Sorry, I made it all up. I've only been to Teignmouth once and that was before I'd even heard of Muse. He does have a reputation for being a nice bloke though and he is tall.
Love it! An intresting lie is always more entertaning than the boring truth! (Copyright Spike Milligan`s dad). Nice to hear he`s a decent bloke. And he`s 7 foot 3 you know. Jez, 5 foot 10
10. This post started out asking how much his bass is worth and did anyone try and swipe it and ends up as a character assasination/defence of the guy and his career. Jez
11. Quite a few dudes on here have the VMJ, myself included, and they are great basses if you get a good one. Thunderbirds are great sounding basses and at £199 new or about £130-£150 second hand are great value. But play one for a bit as lots of people don`t get on with the shape and the way it hangs on your bod. Regarding amps, Hartke, Peavey and Ashdown are all good budget bets. As Burrito says, buying secondhand from here will get you so much more! Good luck and watch out for GAS!! Jez
12. If you liked the neck on a 50`s P, then it`s a G&L for you!! Jez
13. Sold a pedal to Kenny. As above, great guy to deal with. Jez
14. Very nice Paul. Have heard only good things about ESP. Tony Butler from Big Country played em for years, mabye still does. Jez
15.
Someone, please, tell me what GAS is.
Welcome to the Church of GAS my son. Praise our great masters, the Rev Visa and Rev Mastercard. Go in peace. Jez
16.
Ill check out Guitar Guitar as they have a great wide range of guitars and basses and see if theres one there
Guitarguitar do have a good range of G&L`s, unfortunatley they are all in Edinburgh!! They sell well through there apparently. If you get the chance of a second hand one, buy it! Jez
17.
And on the 7th day God rested and said to Jez....... Sorry buddy, but couldnt resist. So what kinda gear are you looking for matey????
Aye, I asked for that Steven! Don`t quite know what I`m looking for to tell the truth. I`m trying to keep to a 3 bass rule and have just got a rather tasty G&L so somethings gotta go. And as the two Fenedr/Squire`s are "hybirds" in e bay speak, the Status has to go. Jez
18.
Aren't the ones with the rounded edges like yours the Energy Artiste version? Could be wrong, but I had an Energy and it had sharp bevelled edges. Nice bass for not a lot of money. Shouldn't be on here for long.
Cheers Buddy. The only advert I could find says that the Artiste version have a multi laminated body whereas mine is a 2 piece body as far as I can see. Jez
19. Status Energy bought on here from Absolutepepper, 1996, ash body, 2x hyperactive pickups, maple neck with dual graphite rods, jazz size neck, pre-shape active electronics - volume-pickup balance-active treble cut/boost, fitted with Rotosound flatwounds, nice low action. There are 2 marks on the bottom of the bass, some slight wear on the body above the neck pickup caused by someone`s thumb and a couple of dinks on the top edge of the headstock which are not visable form the front. Frets and the rest of the bass is in good condition. I will put the 3 original strapbuttons back on before sale. I`m looking for £320 or might swap for some ampage of the same value. Would prefer collection or would meet somewhere handy for both parties. Not wanting to post. Any questions, ask away. 20. Why limit yourself to a P or a J? Get a G&L L 2000 tribute and you get the best of all worlds!! Jez
21. The Wilkinson brand is well respected in the 6 string world and makes some good gear. I have the vintage style tuners on my P and Jazz. They are bloomin good and only cost £24 a set. I always meant to get one of those bridges. Nice. Jez
22. The Affinity has the small sealed tuners whilst the Standard has open gear style ones. The A has a alder body and the S has a agathis body if I remember right. What differance this makes, I couldn`t tell you. Possibly better quality of maple used for the neck? I have owned a couple of Affinity`s, a black one and a lovely 2 t sunburst and they are decent enough basses. And you can pick em up for about £60 s/hand. Jez
23. Yet another of the "let`s join basschat because I have a bass to sell" mob! Sadly missed by all........ Jez
24.
Headstock angle detail. NB: for the joyless, hessian knicker wearing, neo-moralista PC community - please spare me the faux outrage. If you insist on sending me PMs to enlighten me, please try not to send me straight to sleep with your unwelcome inanities.
Someone giving you static? Right lads, get the capri and the tools and we can hunt them down!! Jez
25. Just to confirm, the bass was sold on saturday. I changed the heading on saturday to reflect this but I should have posted this. Sorry for any confusion. Jez
