Steven. Have you tried Sammy Dows in Nithsdale st Glasgow? Your knid of music would go down well in there. Unlike us who died the death of a thousand deaths! Try Rockers in Midland st, McSorleys in Jamacia st and The Clutha Vaults in Stockwell st. Also, there is an overabundance of your type of band, all trying to get the same gigs, so my advice would be to get a decent demo, get out there and see as many bands as possible and as said before, get talking to the people who book the bands and try and build up a relationship with them. It`s the old chicken and egg syndrome, they book people they know. Jez

I got this a couple of weeks ago from Krispn in a trade but need some cash, so am looking to move this on. It`s a great bass, in great condition, just some light scratches on the back, on the poly finish which isn`t through to the wood. I am looking for £575 collected or meet up within reason or £590 posted. I will also take a part exchange for a cheaper bass, your bass plus cash for the Lakland. Any questions fire away..... Frog dude! I think that finding people who have their own transport, can play, are reliable, able to commit time to gig and reherse and is not a total twonk head can be quite difficult. There is always 2 or three people on Glasgow gumtree looking for bassists. Go for it and enjoy yourself and if you are playing through this way, gies a holler. Jez

Paul Be very careful of Gumtree scammers as I had a couple of dodgy characters recently. If you have to ask the question, I`d walk away man. You can send the e mail you got (assuming that`s what happened) to Gumtree admin and they can advise you, and they get back in touch quickly. Jez

Flippin heck. They are dropping like flies recently. We always play you really got me and all day of the night and they always go down a storm in the 2nd set. Strangley, he is in the bass tabs section of Guitar and Bass mag this month and it mentions that he was the first guy to own a Ricky 4001 (I think) in the UK and then Chris Squire and the others followed. RIP buddy

Done a swap with Gav:my P bass for his Lakland. Really decent guy, no messin about and he travelled through to the "big city" to meet up and do the exchange. Saved me a lot of grief! Would not hesitate to recomend dealing with him again! Cheers Gav Jez

I`m gonna stick this on Gumtree as I`m not wanting to post this as I have no case or box for it, but thought I would stick it on here to see if anyone local wants it. It`s a Ibanez ATK300 in natural, bought early this year by me for £407. It`s in as new condition, not a mark on it except for 2 holes for a ebony thumb rest which I have taken off but will give you with the bass. It has a set of Stadium Elites 45-105 strings in good nick fitted and you can have the original Elixar (I think) strings which were taken off almost right away. The neck has a P bass profile It`s a nice sounding bass with a 3 position switch for 2 single coil and 1 humbucker settings and a 3 band eq. A very versatile bass, some people say it can sound like a MM but I think that the only thing that sounds like a MM is a MM. Still a good versitile bass and a great buy as they now retail about £455. I must be the only newbie here that is also learing to play??? Anvil I think that you`ll find that most of us on here are still learning how to play the bloomin bass, with varying levels of success! Keep it up cause it`s the best gig in the band. And you will meet the nicest people!! Jez

A wee bump up and just to say that the sunburst looks very yellow and red in the photos, but this is due to the flash. It looks more subtle in the flesh. Jez

I think that I was being a bit picky wanting a black Jazz, so I have decided to see what `s out there. It is one of the new style standards with the fancy case and was bought from guitarguitar in Glasgow. It is fitted with a set of DR Marcus Miller Fatbeams and has been gigged 3 or 4 times since having the strings fitted. The case has a few surface scratches. It has an aftermarket scratchplate fitted cos I thought black looks cooler! It has a few blemishes which I have tried to photo. One ding on the lower front under the tone control below the pickgaurd screw, one very small ding on the top/front where your arm comes across which I can`t even photograph, a couple of dings on the bottom of the body and a couple of very light dings on the back. The neck/frets are in great condition. Trade wise I`m looking for a Geddy Lee, G&L, Warwick, Ibanez, anything four string except another P bass of course. Would do a swap plus cash my deal. Cash wise it`s worth around the £600 mark I reckon. I will post it via insured carrier or we can meet up. Any questions, ask away.
