Well NOW I just want to see that paint job
Your wish is my command. When I said a Halfords paint job, I meant that I used their car paint. Satin black if I remember right. The preparation took ages (10 mins with a sanding block!) and the actual paint job took, oh, 5 mins each coat. And it got about 3 coats. I have no patience whatsoever for painting. I had to go over it after doing the paint with T cut as when I was playing, the paint was coming off the back and going onto my jeans. Sod painting anything again! Jez

Farmer is bang on with the Hercules grab system. I had 4 at one time and they are ideal. More expensive yes but cheaper than paying to have the bass fixed when it falls onto the floor. Jez

The VMJ (the natural one) is a really good bass that I have gigged quite a lot. I have never had a CV so can`t say if one is better than the other but I have never had any problems with mine. Having said that, it appears that they are subject to the usual Fender quality control issues. Some are great and some are sh*t! Although, that is more than likley true of most volume manufacturers. I have upgraded mine with a Gotoh bridge, Wilkinson vintage tuners, Fender logo, black Jazz plastic knobs and dodgy Halfords paint job. If you get a good one, it will do the biz for you. Jez

Tasty looking bass. What`s the script regarding Sadowsky`s? Am I missing something regarding this bass brand? Jez

That E bay Gibson is really tasty. I like how the guy says he knows nothing at all about guitars but thinks that the saddles may have been changed. Jez

My Fender P Bass isn't working out for me
jezzaboy replied to Herbie The Rad Dorklift's topic in Bass Guitars
Go for the DR High Beams as Bubinga says. And get rid of the foam!! Once you stick on these, expensive but worth it strings, your sound will be transformed. I can only echo what has been said, P basses genrally sound kack on their own but wind it up in a live scenario and they will cut through the mix, as they say. I have tried almost every knid of bass, active and passive but keep going back to the P. I have Status Half Rounds on mine and like the sound I get. But, mabye the sound aint for you. If you are happy with the Schecter sound, why not stick with it and keep the P as a back up or move it on? Jez -
Speaking as someone who spent £50 on an Electro Harmonix big muff and £40 on a octave pedal to do some Muse tracks, I can say that when I play my Jazz through my Ashdown and the pedals, I sound absolutley nothing like CW. Is this good or bad? Jez

£105 for something that makes not a bit of differance! (Puts o Nike Airmax, runs in the direction of away). Jez

Dell monitor, 430mm from corner to corner, flatsceen, black in colour, works perfectly. Collection only from Paisley. Jez

Bit of advice. Find out what the singer can sing and work from there. No point in learning stuff and the singer knocks it back due to it being in the "wrong key". Having said that, it`s good to know some standard covers, the kind of which already been mentioned. Jez

I usually play my latest purchase for around 3 gigs then go back to my P bass bitsa or VMJ. Recently it`s been my Status but tonight Mathew it will be the P with Status Half rounds with the Jazz as a backup. The Status will no doubt re-appear at some point. Jez

What's this Warwick Streamer Worth If I Were Selling/Trading?
jezzaboy replied to merello's topic in Bass Guitars
Why are you wanting shot of it Paul? It`s a really nice looking bass. I was looking at a black $$ in Strung out guitars this morning but it was £899 s/hand. Yaeh, £899 s/hand. Nice though. Jez -
Just a shot in the dark but has anyone ever tried removing the pre amp and converting it to passive? I agree about the on off nature of the pre amp. It`s sometimes all or nothing but how would it sound passive? Or am I just being a muppett? Jez

If you are looking for a set of Gotoh tuners to fit the small diamater holes on a Jap Fender, here is a link. http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/acatalog/Got...ass_Guitar.html If you get the GB1N-4, they will fit the small size of holes if you know what I mean. I had a set that I bought for a VMJ but they were too small. I eventually moved them onto chrisd24 who put them on his Jazz. Might be worth sending him a pm regarding size as the website is pretty vauge regarding size. Regarding the larger diamater, as said earlier you cant go wrong with a set of Wilkinson tuners. Vintage style, long keys, £24 and they stay in tune! Got a set on a P and the VMJ. Great value. It`s the one`s available r/h and l/h at the top of the page, £6 each. I think that unless you go for an OLP you will have a fruitless search. I had one of those Vintage ET96 I think it was called and it was a piece of kack. Looked ok from a distance but was a waste of money in the end. And it weighed a bloomin ton. As already said, save your money and get a SUB or an OLP. Jez

No I don`t claim to be an expert on Fender decals but Bigdecal were a US maker of Fender transfers who recently closed their site. You are quite right, it is against the rules to post about the price of goods that someone places on the marketplace and I will amend my post as I stated. If you feel that you need to report my post to the mods, go ahead. Jez

I have the article from Guitar and bass mag with some nice piccys. I can scan it and send it to ya if you pm me your e mail. Jez
