1.
Also see what they think about putting a Fender decal on your custom build.
Discreet you will go to the bad fire. Jez
2.
your joking?
Nope, no kidding. Give me an Ashdown over an Ampeg any time. Don`t like the sound from any of them that I have played through. As Munk says above it could be the amps in the studio that are guff. Jez
3. No problem. Good wee bass, nice and light and good for doing John Paul Jones impressions in your Led Zep tribute band. And Liam is a good guy to deal with. Jez
4. In the rehersal studio we use, I love the sound of a P through an Ashdown ABM and Ampeg 8x10 but sometimes they have an Ampeg SVT and I think it sounds crap. I have tried several different Ampeg heads and they all sound crap when I play through them. I think I will join Talkbass and see what they think about crap Ampegs Jez
5. I like it. Big enough for pub gigs, nice and light, good features like the built in tuner and the tube effect. If it`s the same idea as the BG500`s, it`s good for some dirt. Nice price as well. Jez
6.
The custom shop version comes with a proshetic nose and a chap called Serge who gives you a hefty kick in the knackers just before you start singing.
Do you need to pay extra for this or is it part of the package? Jez
7. Donny, the dog`s name is Rosie and it`s cute and she knows it. One of 2 dumb blondes in my life..... Jez
8. Sounds nice. What`s the deal with the chambered body? Less weight, better sound? I never knew you could get that spec. It wil look the biz with the Status neck but I seem to remember reading on here that you have to be carefull when drilling the holes for the neck/body joint. Here`s the post from Bassbod. Posted 02 May 2010 - 11:51 AM I wouldn't do it again. Unless you're very confident and steady handed, have sharp tools and know a bit about carbon/graphite do's and don'ts. The carbon fibre is very thin and brittle - ie the srews only grip 2-3mm of resin, then its fresh air inside the neck, with some foam. The holes have to be counter-sunk to avoid chipping as the screws go in - it all feels a bit high risk on an expensive neck. I did it fine, but its not a forgiving material. I've got a lot of respect for Rob Green, making basses out of that stuff, and to such a high standard. Edit for a PS: I also wouldn't do it again for sonic reasons - way too brittle/hard a sound for me...but lots of people love it Might be worth talking to the guy? Jez
9. Here`s one. Don`t know how good it is. It`s quite an easy song. Hope this helps. http://www.911tabs.com/link/?1779549 Jez
10. Glad you like the bass Donny but I have had an EB O and an EB 3 and have found that they have 2 sounds. Thud and slightly more thud. Good if you are looking for a thud sound. Still, never did Jack Bruce or Andy Fraser any harm so what do I know Jez
11. I never really get blisters on my picking hand. Could be because: A- I use half rounds all the time, nice and smooth B- I don`t dig in hard enough but volume has never been a problem C- I`m from Paisley and am a right hard b**tard and are you looking at ma bird wee man!!!!! Answers on a postcard to Blue Peters usual address. Jez
12.
Has anyone ever made a replica ? Fender (US or JP), Tokai, Shuker, Bravewood etc etc
The Doc has and we are waiting on the pics Jez
13. Gawd, we really are a bunch of big girl`s blouse`s if the lack of a belly contour puts you off a bass! And I would have thought that being a "bit porky" in the belly department would have given you some cushioning. Not that I have ever seen a fat bassist Jez
14. Doc, could you post the pics of the copy you made from the 1st post in April 2011? The attachments have dissapeared and it would be good to see it. Jez
15. Bigjohn. Far too cheap mate. But I appreciate you may have your own reasons for the price. By the way I`m only saying this because I have no cash too buy this bass Jez
16. Seems like a lotta love for punk on here. Just need the guitarist and singer now. Advert and jammin time comming up. Oh joy Jez
17. Cheers guys for all the suggestions. I remember most of them, just makes me realise I`m gettin old! Lozz, cheers for most of your secrets! Jez
18. As I mentioned in another topic: when BGM were describing a Dingwall super P, "based on Leo Fender`s classic 1960`s design." There is simply no excuse for printing garbage like this in a specialst magazine. To be fair to BGM writing a review must be quite difficult due to the fact that you don`t get many "bad" basses these days. Even a £200 bass is decent enough quality to gig with. Or even £100 if you buy a Westfield. I`m a bit of a magazine junkie but I don`t buy it on a regular basis. Guitar and Bass magazine is a much better buy, imo of course. Jez
19. I`ve been searching for a band for a few months now but every band plays the same old crap, mustang sally, stuck in the middle, blah blah. So, the drummer in my old band has suggested a punkish covers band as he is an old punk himself. He is going to get a set list together but as his taste is up his behind sometimes, if someone on here plays in a punk covers band and can give me an idea of some songs that go down well and are not too extreme if you get my drift, I would be most grateful. Please, save me from Sweet home alabamah!!! Jez
20. Looks really nice. Always fancied a Sandberg and for Mexican P bass price range looks like a winner. Jez
21. Bad Idea!!
22. Price drop as I need shot of these. Speaker cables £27 posted Mic cables all 4 £22 posted Jez
23.
Yes. It's like an on-off switch on a mic, just yells "cheap!!!!!!!!"
Nah they are the coolest thing to use. Look at this and drool! You can even strech them out. See, even my daft dog loves it! Jez
