1. Sans amp programable bass driver for sale. This is in great condition except the first footswitch jams down if pressed so I don`t use it. If you do press it down it can be poped up with a screwdriver. It has been like this since I bought it second hand and the other 2 channels work perfectly. I usually wrap a tie wrap round the footswitch so I don`t press it down accidently. Due to this I`m looking for £80 collected or £85 posted. Korg Pitch Black tuner. Excellent condition, just some light scratches from gigging. £35 collected or £38 posted. Not looking for any trades as I need the cash. Jez
2. Wharfdale EVP 12PM powered monitor for sale. I have owned this for 3 years and it has only been used for vocal monitoring. It has a 12inch speaker and horn, can take 3 inputs and has an output to connect another speaker. Rated at 200 watts. A couple of the bits of the carpet covering is slightly worn and the front metal grill has some paint chips. This thing is built like a tank and was used last friday on a gig where it done the biz. Its a great piece of kit that I am only getting shot of as I am bandless at the moment. I am looking for £95 for it and would prefer local collection/meet localish as it weighs 25kg. Any questions fire away. Jez
3. Welcome to the world of the P bass Steven. One of the few Fenders I haven`t owned but have always wanted. I have the Squier version and it`s modded to buggery and I really like it so I imagine the Fender one will be top! Jez Rip the Jaguar
4. Just completed a deal with Mark for a bass body. Good communication and sent the payment rapid. Thanks Jez
5.
Sunburst is the work of devil, every sunburst bass I've ever had has been stripped down and re-painted.
Good on you Wayne, I knew you wouldn`t let us down!! Stick with the Jazz, most people on here have 1 or 2 kicking about and there is a good reason for that. There are too may variables on you tube vids, amp type and settings, pedals and more importantly the players ability or lack of Jez
6. Just did a swap my g&l for his ibby and it was a nice experiance. One phone call and the deal was sorted. This is how it should be. Cheers Steve, I hope you can live with the neck!! Jez
7. Well, I owned a black one, serial number 101. Great bass, fantastic sound just a bit too radical in the styling department for me. A sort of Uber Super Jazz. £400 is a good price. Jez
8. Ibanez make really good basses, in fact one of them is travelling up the m6 with my name on it as we speak. If you have small hands, the neck is ideal and as most of them have an active circut in them, they give you more tonal options. I have owned several Ibbys in the past and they have all been good value for money. Have a look at the Yamaha BB414 (if I remember right). They generally go for around 200 quid on here and they are really tasty, have a narrow neck and a set of P/J pickups. Never heard a bad word about them on here. Re the Jim Decon. I think they are made by the same guys who make the SX range of basses and any I saw for the money they were asking were ok. Jez

11. I have recently bought a 60`s Jazz bass and it is one of the lightest basses I have ever had and that is made in the same factory as the 50`s P. But as said earlier, the weight varies so much you just need to try a few. If you fell in love with the SG bass then get it. If you fall out of love with it, you can always swap it for something else on here. Only can decide which bass is the right one for you. Good luck and give us a shout back! Jez
12. I could be wrong here but from my Tull days I seem to recall that John Glasscock didn`t play this gig. He was unwell or something and I think the guy who played bass was Tony Williams. Got it! Here`s a link to the guy. http://www.j-tull.com/musicians/pastmembers/tonywilliams.html Jez
13. Steven is a top man deal with confidence type bump! Jez
14. I know that Stadium Elites use dark blue fabric at the tuning peg end. The only Rotosound medium scale strings I have used were all red at the tuning peg end. Jez
15.
can someone tell me if you have to drill extra holes when putting a badass II on a 75 RI jazz? also whats the best bridge for adjustment of string spacing...
Don`t think so. I had a ba2 on a classic Jazz, lined up perfectly. I am pretty sure that the ba is designed to fit the 5 holes on a P or Jazz. If you are looking for something solid you could try a G&L bridge. A right solid piece of kit. Jez
16.
Aren't there more of them than us and they'd take over
Apparently the ratio is around 10 guitarist to one bass player according to a well know shop in Glasgow. Jez
17. I had a CIJ P bass a few years ago and I wouldn`t say that it was any better than any of the other P basses I have owned. At the back end of last year I bought a Mex Clasic 60`s Jazz and this thing is spot on, I have no issues with it at all. It`s well put together and the finish is flawless. In the end a good bass that suits you is what we are all looking for, no matter what country it was made in. Jez
18. It was Tom1946 who was selling it on here. You could pm him. Jez
19. According to the old faithfull Fender bass book their 5 string came into being in 65 but it was a high C instead of a low B and had only 15 frets. It never caught on. Don`t know if it was the first 5er though. Jez
20.
Cheers for the heads up on squier I just found this http://www.soundsliv...ck~ID~15697.asp . Seems they do a mustang copy but a black body and pickguard with a maple neck is a bit fugly. I had my heart set on rosewood but i'm sure it would be alright after a new pickguard and a bit of modding
Black body and maple neck is ugly????? We`ll have none of this talk around these parts!!! I think that these look rather nice in black but they also come in sunburst and maple neck. Jez
21. I had a Westone that I bought for 50 quid and the P style pickup was one of the hottest I have ever heard. But I couldn`t keep it as it was far too ugly and heavy! I should have took the pickup out of it before I punted it though. Jez
22. I think the problem is that the screw holes don`t match up on some of the non original fender types and on some fender ones as well. I have bought a cheapish one before and the shape was slightly different. Regarding the truss rod adjustment, a few mins with a small bevel edged file will sort that out. Jez
23. I got some cash and don`t really need anything so, after watching that fantastic Bowie on totp I think I`m going to go down and buy a very expensive curly lead. Just to get a bit retro. Jez
24. Why not go for the Status half wounds? They are rounds that have been smoothed to make them between a flat and a round. They are great strings for the price. Their flats are excellent value as well. But strings are such a personal thing you would need to get a set and find out for yourself. Jez HHalf-wound strings start off as regular round-wound then have the outer edges of the round wrap ground down slightly. This produces a string with a smooth feel and a tone somewhere between a round-wound and flat-wound string. 25. Great clip and well done that man for finding it. T B gets a fantastic sound from that EB but I tried to clock the amp head. Was it a Marshall guitar head or did the bass heads look the same as the guitar heads? Very dodgy wig/sidebreezers combo though. Jez
