4. Your welcome mate, and yes i would have thought the alder would of come up lighter' all my ash bass's are heavier than my alder ones except my cort gb74 which is super light.
5. I have a v7 4 from the second lot Thomann got in and its heavy where as a friend just got one [again from Thomann] and its definitely lighter, its exactly the same spec as mine except mines natural and his is sunburst both are ash and maple ... i havent heard that wood has been shaved off i just presumed the weight loss was due to different cuts.. to my ear there is no compromise in sound either.
6. I have had 2 vmj's in the past and both were nice sounding ,especially the natural one with maple body, i had read there would be a big improvement by replacing the duncan designed with u.s. seymour duncans there wasnt ... i used the vintage sjb 1's as i wanted more of a classic fender sound but most people couldnt tell the difference... i also replaced the electrics with all fender original and this also had next to no audible effect my conclusion was that they are very good as they come and i would leave as is unless your after a bigger output in which case the quarter pounders would give you that, but there is always a sacrifice made with that classic jazz bass tone i.m.o.
7. Electric Ladyland was my other choice too ... oh and i forgot some Floyd ,and Dylan...hmmm
8. Marvin Gaye ..Whats going on Miles Davis.. Kind of blue Grateful Dead ..American Beauty I never tire of these.

14. The seller also has this for sale i paid 5o notes for something very similar a little while back did i get a result or is this extremely overpriced ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1973-Japanese-Made-P-Bass-Style-Bass-Guitar/192369144654?_trkparms=aid%3D444000%26algo%3DSOI.DEFAULT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49131%26meid%3Dbd31a61e870d4f6ca1917402344fdf73%26pid%3D100752%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D192371066856&_trksid=p2047675.c100752.m1982

16. Lovely bass.. I suffer with back issues and acquired a gb74 as it was so light, it also sounds great and definitely helps my back ...the only trouble is when someone puts a lovely bass like your p up for sale temptation comes calling😁
17. There is a Daphne blue coming along nicely in the build section http://basschat.co.uk/topic/309805-a-couple-of-p-builds/page__pid__3399302__st__30#entry3399302
18.
There's supposed to be a planet populated entirely by all the lost and forgotten biro pens. I'm not sure whether fountain pens live there as well.
... perhaps it was Hotblack Desiato looking for a bass player !
19.
It's Pauline - you were very close with the Royston Vasey Local Shop!
Ah that would explain it ,Bilbo was obviously mistaken for Pauline
20. It looks like he's playing an Epiphone rivoli which has to be the bass most unlikely to cut through a heavy guitar mix !
