  1. That is true, but that is the way of things, everything will get more expensive, but I think that might be one of the good side effects. Talking to delivery drivers it is crazy what they have to do, so I am all for it costing more. And I am sure the brexit voters will be happy to pay more too - I never knew what soverignty was but I know it can't be cheap!
  2. We love playing outside, which is handy as there aren't many other choices at the moment. We had 2 in the next 4 weeks inside, now dropped. Still have an outdoor on Saturday weather permitting
  3. At least the lyrics made more sense than Vienna. They meant nothing to me.
  4. ok.. Ibanez EHB1505, Shuker Uberhorn, Chapman Stick, PositiveGrid Spark amp.
  5. That was a while back so some of my stuff has changed - sold the NS/Stick, got some other stuff. I guess I will bring: Ibanez EHB1505, Shuker Uberhorn, Chapman Stick, ABM600, BC112 speaker. - although as there are loads of amps / cabs there, maybe I could bring the Spark so people could see if it was something they were interested in?
  6. Could have just been digital copies
  7. properly paid for a sample, yes.
  8. I am ok with that, it is just that where I would be normally happy to wing something, to be able to sing as well you have to realy know the singingor the bass, if at some point you have to think about either, the other one starts falling apart!
  9. Playing with two guitarists gives more scope than I am used to, makes for a nice change.
  10. Agreed. As I said the only reason for getting a Maruszczyk (or something else) is fender don't do what you want, which it doesn't seem is the case.
  11. Started playing with a different group of people, so touching up on things I haven't played for a long time, plus a good 15 songs I haven't played before. Pinball wizzard, jailbreak, boys are back in town, sultans of swing, local boy in a photograph. All pretty easy but when you have to sing as well it becomes a lot harder.
  12. Agreed, fenders are easier to sell due to the brand recognition and people who want a fender as either they like them or it is the thing to buy. THere are normally more of them for sale and the prices tend to be a bigger drop on the list price*, so I am guessing they change hands fast. And ultimately, it should really come down to what you like most (unless resale is very important to you). I still think if what you want is something fender make, it seems a no-brainer to get a fender, especially if the other options are the same sort of price. *a bit hard to tell as the list price is very variable.
  13. So is not that also true of mexican or chinese fenders? They are made by fender. I mean there is no real connection between the original P Bass, made by mr Fender and mr Fullerton in Fender Drive in fullerton other than the company name that has been shlepped through a few owners. So a modern P Bass by fender is no less of a copy than other companies, just they have the right to do it. In fact you could say that a G&L P bass is more original, as it was made by the same people in the same factory in the same street many years later!
  14. Sounds fine, its quite a colourless amp. Yes, the BC112 is the basschat bass cab.
  15. Party cannon are the group on that poster that is around (Probably also on this thread somewhere) that stand out as the only non-conforming metal group - ie, all the other groups are in white text on black with spidery scrawly can't-really-read font, and party canon are baloon letters in colour!
  16. Tea with nanna would be an awesome metal band name!
  17. So do I, but as I said, in the context of this thread, it it didn't get to no1, it was a number 2. Her track that did get to number one on her own was "new rules", which hasn't got a good bass line (although it is a good track) It is fun to play, although it isn't an actual bass. Not that that matters. Its actually a sampled bass, which is why it is quite convincing. But they play the bass on the tiny desk gig.
  18. Well, the basses, the shuker and the EHB haven't been played a gig yet, but they have been played at a practice so I am happy they are good. The ABM600 hasn't been gigged yet, so that is what I am interested in hearing with both speakers
  19. I still love my Maruszczyk and if nothing goes wrong with your order all is good. They aren't quite the bargain they were if you just want a P or something, but if you need customising they are good, for instance, mine is effectively a PJ but with ibanez neck spacing and lighter weight, not something I could get from fender. If what you want is something you can get from fender it is a trickier choice.
  20. I played the 65 Jazz bass they had in vintage and patronising, and I have to say it was one of the nicest jazz basses I had played. But you know, near 3k, you could get something decent for that!
  21. Obviously. If people don't know whether it is digital or not they cant criticise it for not sounding as good as an old analogue one!
  22. Thats how I viewed it. Thrash came from america, speed metal came from germany
  23. Indeed they were, and did, that is why there is a clear similarity in sound between motorhead (the track) by hawkwind and their early stuff. When we were going to gigs in 1980+, if we wanted heavy we would go to priest or one of the start of the bands that would be nwobhm, if we wanted rock we would go to motorhead or one of the older school bands that were around.
  24. Thats not how you spell Venom?
