  1. When I played drums. Just finished "NeatNeatNeat" by the Damned and the singer announced that the next song would be "NeatNeatNeat" by the Damned. I said to the bass player that I had just played that song (I looked a bit confused). He laughed so hard that we couldn't start the next song until he had calmed down.. To this day I still don't know what song they played as I drummed. Hall like a tunnel, I could only hear a muffled roar.
  2. Some, not all. Local 70s inspired band, friends with drummer, his son on guitar- nice fella...and the singer? Nah. The experimental spacerock outfit though? Old mates, one was best man at my wedding and the other I started a band with in 1991. Like discreet said, telepathic. CamdenRob- do tell about this pretending to like football. I'm 45 and still can't bluff that one!
  3. ..........blimey............ That is something else. He should play with Robert Randolph.
  4. My nephew is learning clarinet and he asked me to bring my alto sax round for him to try ( he has much more talent than I !). The first thing he plays is................"Smoke on the water". I have been escorted off the premises for less. Good on him though. I doubt my sis will enjoy him borrowing my saxophone. Hahaha.
  5. Looks fab, hope it sounds it too?!!
  6. Three plus an old Marlin sidewinder behind the wardrobe. It counts as a bass doesn't it? Hohner Jack 4 string Ibanez EDB 550 Vintage AV4 Want......more.
  7. +1 for the Zoom B3. For the money it is excellent and very useful. I have only scratched the surface with mine but I got a fab synth fuzz sound without using a synth, for example. The editing software makes life a lot easier for getting sounds set up too.
  8. Most excellent news indeed. My two just started nursery school. Other than a toy piano and some percussion instruments they haven't expressed any musical preferences as yet. Early days though.
  9. If you chortle too hard you go blind. Glad you found your rig....for now ;-p
  10. Started out a drummer but.....bass is the place.
  11. A couple of guys in the town where I live started their own rock club.....4 miles away in a village. The Diamond Rock Club in Ahoghill. Metal and rock with the obligatory acoustic set here and there. Very well attended. The only rock venue in NI nowadays.
  12. I bought one of these last year. First trial in anger was through a 4ohm PA cab. Woooooo I thought, this is nice ( for something not far off the size of a video cassette or 4 DVD cases - if you're young). Then I bought a couple of genz 12"focus cabs. Blimey. I don' t gig but play with two bands. One has a loud drummer and even louder geetar. I use one cab with these guys( too much of a shlep for two) no problem keeping up. With the other lot I use two cabs, clarity by the bucketload, relatively speaking, and drums and guitar who can play at the volume of a mouses lullaby. What a lovely wee amp.
  13. I stabbed myself (accidentally, of course) in the plam of my right hand on Saturday morning. Didn't go right through thankfully. 4 stitches at A&E and a probable infection if my armpit is anything to go by. I'll heal up, my heart goes out to the OP and all others who have greater problems than I.
  14. I love big band music. Ta for the heads up.
  15. 'Bout ye! Sorry, had to say it. I live half an hour up the road, there a few from NI on here. Most been on a lot longer than me. Nice place this.
  16. Dunlop tortex1.14. Tried all different sizes and this seems to be the one for me.
  17. A brilliant drummer is like a unicorn's neigh. Bloody magic when you hear one.
  18. Music for fun for me. Two guys I play with are friends of over twenty years standing. The force is strong with these two. It's like telepathy or something. Definitely more than the sum of our parts (ooer). Love band practice! !
  19. Being in poor health is really crap. I know. Get well soon Doc.
  20. We got a lend of one for one of our jam sessions. Wow, great sounds. We had it burbling along and it sounded great.
  21. Damon, the panel mount speakon sockets were about £3 each.
  22. I have a MB200 and run two cabs. I initially made a Y shaped cable but this was an inelegant solution. Next I made a splitter box. Bingo. Perfect. The amp sees a 4ohm load and gives it some welly accordingly. (Making a splitter was half the price of buying one new).
  23. I'd buy it for 50p and a pickled egg. But then I've had a few...... Oooooooooh. Innit.
  24. Ola, que tal? Just up the road a bit but lived in Belfast for many years and grew up just outside it. Always had a good music scene. Feliz la navidad.......mas o menos? ;-)
