1. Every ex I've gotten into playing bass (since I started playing) so my hobby was also there's so its not been a problem. Its nice to know there's a few more females playing bass in the world because of me lol. Oh my recent ex didn't allow me to buy a little cab I seen cheap while we were out (as friends) in cash converters recently saying "it was scruffy and knackered". I thought it was a bit cheeky of her tbh but she was right lol.
 2. I'm pleased the battery test worked. Personally I hate tweeters and I would just wire the driver to a jack without any crossover stuff connected (cut it out, not entirely) and see if the main driver works with a known good amp if so close it up and use it as is. However if you do like a working tweeter as said above next step is to find out if its the cross over or the tweeter its self. But first maybe get the main driver up and running on its own least then it's useable if you need to gig it etc.
 3. Valve amps won't go away for a long long time. Why? Because of human nature for the past, gear freaks, geeks etc etc. It will eventually be a niche market like buying a harp maybe or some other traditional instrument. Right up until there really is no money to be made. And to the op. If you love something like you said then only sell if 1. You really need the money for whatever reason 2. Its not getting used in any capacity and you can't see it being used in the future.
 4.
OK will do, when I'm home tonight - that's the red and black wires is it? Just clip them off, hold them against a 9v battery and see if the speaker moves?
It should be. Just shine a light in if your not sure first. Hopefully it will move. Looking at the crossover tbh I can't see why the main driver won't work even if the crossover was blown . But you never know give it a go anyhow and report back.
 5. You can actually widen the outer edges of a nut slot a touch (flare them out) while leaving a portion of the slot untouched, it lets higher gauge strings sit better and further down, while the thinner gauge stings can still sit correctly. Although it takes practice and its a compromise as the thicker gauge strings won't be as perfect in the height, but they will sit much better in the nut. It will allow for heavy and lighter gauges to be played.
 6.
We often use unfinished One10 cabs as handy steps in the factory. I've yet to come across an amp that weighs more than me!
Cool. Btw I was not suggesting the design was weak.
 7. I would clip the wires off the crossover going directly to the main speaker and put a 9v battery to them. That will see if the main driver is dead as it should move with a 9v battery. Similar to this test https://youtu.be/xIMHGkxw72o
 8.
Out of interest TC, how would you describe your idea of a 'sterile' cab?
Good question haha. A sterile cab to me is one that imparts nothing to the tone but not is it super transparent in that way some cabs truly allows a good amp to shine by itself etc. Sterile in a cab wouldn't be a bad thing as such. Just you won't get a certain tone combo and it won't allow what some better cabs can do.
 9.
I've found that stiffer strings allows a lower action, which means less exertion in making the string meet the fret. Swings and roundabouts.
Very true!
 10.
I dunno. I'm heavier than that amp and I sit on my one10 without it collapsing. Frank.
No I wouldn't think it would. But over time? I'm not sure it would be wise. But I'm really only theorising. I'm just thinking of the lighter build, not in quality or design I just mean in the cabs wall thickness than say a old trace or peavey cab.
 11. Fender flats are awesome. They are of a high tension go for the lowest gauge! But they cover so much ground, very versatile
 12.
No brainer. Use the weight you saved on the cab an invest it on the amp. My rig:
Would this not actually compromise the cab structural integrity? Not saying there weak but they are built to be light weight.
 13.
Yep, I'd like to think amp was fine when sent and anything untoward happened in transit. How would I know if crossover or protection fuse. All I know is its dead....through my good amp. swap the leads over to other cab (not connected at the time) and that is fine.
Unscrew the rear panel. Fuse will be obvious of course but testing the crossover will need a bit more skills you could disconnect main driver and test with an ohm meter or 9v battery
 14.
Yep - nightmare, In that it's effectively halved my gigging rig, I use a pair of Neo 110's. Refund on the amp should be easy, consequential loss of blowing my cab less so... I'm not an expert on these things but I think the power supply has failed, as the speakon connector and cab are dead!
Its a shame about the amp. But its really not cool at all about the cab been blown. I would assume the seller though would not sell an amp knowing that it was in such a condition??? However just looking at the cabs I'm wondering if hopefully it blew the tweeter crossover or a protection fuse if it has one!? Least if something like that has gone a fuse etc may fix it, or the main driver is ok hopefully then it could be wired up without the tweeter etc but it would still work alright.
 15. Nightmare. I wonder what the seller will say?
 16. There are some hideous covers in this thread. However this one is not aesthetically horribly but a financial one. For your consideration. The biggest selling 12" single or one of them anyway. New orders blue monday. The first run lost money on every single one they sold due to the expensive die cut sleeve. Imagine to have a record flying off the shelves but losing money on everyone haha. Later ones were made without the cutouts, or made in the us or had a different cover etc. I actually had a little collection of the various runs at one point. 17. But surely if its sounds good it is good, U2 have sold a few albums so I hear lol Then it does not matter how its played or how simple it is. It must sound good as the masses have spoken. Therefore it is good. Is he an all time great bassist probably not, but he hasn't half made a shitload of money, has fans and has many bassist talking about him. Why doesn't Sting get the same stick? his bass parts in The Police were not exactly complicated. Playing an instrument is all about making pretty patterns with music. Doesn't matter how you get there. I'm very neutral btw I do like some u2 stuff other stuff of there's I find tottaly uninspired. Adam Clayton doesn't seem to bad a bloke I like his sig jazz.
 18.
Any recommendations for replacement valves? Want something that can bark with my jazz...
I know over on talkbass they have a few excellent threads on the LB including swapping valves etc.
 19. The Rumbles are light but as fair as I know don't come with any insulation??? Where the tc k210 cabs do have insulation and do seem better built.
 20.
So I opened it up, took all the valves out and sprayed contact spray, no luck... I then replaced one of the stubbier valves (the three in the front, guess they are the pre-amp ones...?) with a new ruby one and boom it all works perfectly now. However when I was going through the valves they were a mix match of different types, is this something I should avoid?
The pre amp and any driver tubes typically can be different. And in the case of the LB has 2x12ax7 and 1x12au7 any off these can be a different brand. And you can probably play about with the 12ax7's to get slight changes. The output valves (el84) however should be matched and of the same brand.
 21.
Your electricity supply is a very "connected" thing, and devices can have a huge impact elsewhere in the house. Humming noises might be a result of the fridge in the kitchen, or a dimmer switch in the sitting room. Can make it hard to track issues down. S.P.
Yes indeed, I knew that too lol. Which is why its a good reminder to really check these things.
 22. My bass all of a sudden started buzzing today horribly when I had my hand off the strings. I double checked where I first plugged in and then plugged in elsewhere in the same room. No joy. This is a room I'm often in btw and no issues ever before. Cue me first removing the bridge, as it had been off yesterday and making sure the earth had a nice contact. No joy. So I then went through all the electrics as over the years they had been messed with slightly it looked like. No joy. So I then re soldered and tidied up the electrics. No joy. Turns out there was a little power supply plug next to where I plugged the amp in (the second time) which either wasn't in correctly or something. As wiggling it made the noise go. Obviously it had still affected the first socket I plugged in. And the fact that touching the bass made the noise go away lead me down the wrong path. I would say I wasted my time but the bass I'm sure sounds a bit better (slightly more output) after i re did the electrics.
 23.
A little update.. I raised the action, pulled back the silk on the 'E' so the nut is well clear and left everything to settle while away at the weekend and the bass now plays beautifully. Cheers for the suggestions guys.
Shame you couldn't get the relief you wanted. Bit long as it still plays ok then raising the action is the only thing you can do sometimes with very low tension strings if the rod won't allow any more relief. There are other ways around this but then your compromising the bass setup, if you go back to any higher tension strings.
 24. Actually looks pretty cool for a little alternative to there other little bass amps, didn't know roland did a cube that's ok for bass and guitar. Saying that I do now some of the old cubes worked fine for multi instruments even when not advertised as such.
 25. Bump. Had a few timewaster via gumtree. But not a nibble on here. Nice little bass.
