1.
I didnt realise they were related to Behringer.
There Berhinger's high end range and pretty good for the money. I've said a few times of late I actually chose a bvp 5500 over the ampeg svt 3 pro because I genuinely thought/think it's a better amp.
 2.
bugera (Behringer) are well known for claiming peak power at way more than 1% THD . I suspect about 250W RMS ...
True kinda. When there amps have been tested (talkbass) they normally are 50% to 75% there actual stated power by normal testing means. I think there class d veyron amps like these ones in the combo asked about were in between that percentage. I know people didn't think they lacked power.
 3.
I have very much enjoyed all this months offerings from the mellow to the dark to the mad ... not sure which category mine falls into but here it is... https://soundcloud.com/timothy-terrence-higgins-iv/alt-ohm recorded straight onto my phone with acoustic [ H.B. fretless ] and it sounds like it !
As a fellow record with a phone guy I know the quality is never good but I do find it interesting to hear all the nuances picked up by the mic, the string/finger noise and even the movement of the player. It's a shame it doesn't really pic up the bass frequencies better. Anyhow I thought your noodle sounded good, I know it will of sounded better in person too.
 4.
A mellow offering from the House of Ag https://soundcloud.com/agwin/equinoodle
Another nice mellow noodle this month. I enjoyed the well rounded mellow tone. It's maybe the pic on soundcloud but it did envoke a feeling of autumn.
 5.
I thought I'd do a beautiful melody evoking that feeling of autumnal colour, kids scuffing leaves and playing conkers, hot chocolate round the fire and burning folks who've tried to blow up parliament. Then I thought, sod that, I'll do this instead: https://soundcloud.com/leonard-smalls/really-free-man
That was interesting, in a interesting way haha I like it.
 6.
Comon yall lets have them noodles here is my quick noodle, something mellow.....( Not the norm ) inspiration from "wayne johnson", Marina. hard to squeeze into one min, but fun trying. (dont know if its ok but bass content starts at 0:03 and finishes at 1.03, but the clip does not finish till 1:08 with quiet ends, is that ok? .... if not i will chop the quiet ends off to fit) bass= washburn XB600 Ped= Boss RV3 on setting 4, vol 1 pre A = SWR super RedHead di out https://soundcloud.c...oodle-1/s-t0zZH
What a nice little piece, indeed very mellow.
 7. Ian bought a mullard valve from me. Very easy transaction via bank transfer. Aidan
 8.
From other forums I've been on the Bugera's have many, many reliability issues.
I believe they did have a few issues in the past, however it seems they have got there act together. From my own experience and from what I've heard they are more reliable than many other brands if you look at how many they pump out and the fact they are a budget brand. And they shift that many units there's gonna be some on forums who complain. There was some stats somewhere on thomann on bugera returns etc and as far as I can recall they were better than bigger brands. The factory at Berhinger city is impressive. They test there products pretty hard apprently. There is a few factory tours on YouTube. There valve testing room is pretty cool and unbelievable that they even make there own speaker cone material etc
 9.
Certainly not(hing) Personal - it was your old (?) bass; has it gone? Was it the odd -odour that finally swung it??
Still have it. And it certainly does smell a bit. However we all know the funk is in the funk.
 10.
Thanks Aidan; the bass also has the advantage of a more pleasant fragrance
Are you saying i smell? Or do you mean my old bass? Or both? Lol
 11. Had a quick go of this nice unusual bass. That pickup packs a punch. And indeed the coil select did alter the tone which surprised my as on many basses the effect is negligible. In decent nik too considering its a month older than me.
 12. Aren't valve based pedals starved plate so it wouldn't make as much of a difference. Although I had a dha vt1 swapped the original tube for a mullard and there was a difference I echo what rolandrock says in that it was much smoother. It just had that hint more valve tone.
 13.
Strip the finish off the neck & oil the bare wood. Job done.
That is pretty much it. It is a fairly simple procedure, although not piece of cake easy but certainly not a hard one. Getting a nice surface takes time and the oiling takes time. There's probably a few good threads on this around already. A few tips would be remove the neck and mask up everything you don't want to get sanded or a build up of crap on.
 14.
The Bugeras really are too cheap to be true aren't they? Mind you, Behringer really has upped their game and I use their pro audio stuff so maybe...
Well there guitar stuff is well thought of. Plenty of people also rate there bass stuff. And there other pro audio products as you say have a good rep. Having had a look inside mine I think it's very well built and designed. I think the truth is they save money buy copying other well known designs or using there tried and tested modular parts. Using generic components and made in large quantities and there qc is probably less than other brands. Also your not paying a premium on a brand name. The Bugera range is there better gear and seems to be a step up from the standard Berhinger line. In the case of the Bugera btx 36000 there are real gig reports on forums etc people do like them and say they have plenty of power! Most people are angry as bugera rated the power at 3600w when the power ratings are approx half that figure. They seem to have a habit of that so they get a backlash which I agree with. Also there past history wasn't as good. But it seems since Bugera products arrived they started to change for the better. They are now a matured manufacturing company maybe. And every new product they launch seems a little bit better at least there higher end lines are. Although ripping off other companies designs both circuitry and aesthetics as closely as they have done and continue to do is a bit wrong, It does pass on a huge saving to the customer while also having a relatively good product. I think you can only try these things and see for yourself.
 15. Isn't the svt 4 pro alternative the Bugera btx 36000 (The Nuke) lol. Which is a clone but not a direct copy. Some people seem to rate them. Think the real rating on these were measured at half bugera's ratings so 1800w. Apparently tested on talkbass at 1500w rms so plenty of power. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bugera-BTX36000-Bass-Amplifier/dp/B0024OS6T2 When I was after a Ampeg svt 3 pro I bought the Bugera version (bvp 5500) as I honestly thought and still do that it's a better amp. And I had played a few ampeg 3 pro's too. And I could of afforded the ampeg but at almost 1/5th the price I thought I would give the bugera a go and honestly glad I did.
 16. Ok here is my entry. Its a simple noodle that was inspired by the Vietnam war. It was longer but I had to cut it down. In the spirit of the comp I've tried to do it in one take but I didn't set the level properly on the iPad (internal mic) and I think it sounds a bit weak. And that round sound string noise I generate is a bit much tho I was sitting close to the iPad too. Normally I play with flats. https://soundcloud.com/user-531446910/the-madness-of-vietnam Oh and hopefully we will get more entries than last month please.
 17.
Thanks, it's too far away I'm afraid, and it's physically a big bigger than I want. Also, I used to love TE stuff until I bought a brand new AH300SM head which quite literally set on fire in the middle of a gig! Fortunately I'd managed to get a lifetime warranty on it so got it repaired but never quite trusted it after that and switched to Ashdown.
If you like ashdown they do some small combos. But my vote would be the rumble v3 although I found the v3 100 a little boomy
 18. I trim the worst off, then run a lighter gently over the cab. Really makes a big difference and makes the carpet slightly more resistant to re fluffing up lol. If done well can make a can look almost new. Obviously care must be taken when doing this method.
 19. Used both the hipshot A and B bridges. Both good bridges. But the A style is superior as you can adjust the string spacing. Although intonation is easier (less fiddly) with the b style. The A style bridge mostly comes on higher spec basses I had a custom acg and another custom bass with the A style fitted it looked more classy than the B style if that bothers you.
 20. Harsh boomy tone? Isnt that the Stingray! Haha I'm only kidding there
 21.
No, it was the only French silent film I could think of offhand, so, yes, it was meant to be a joke. Trivia fact: this was the film referred to by the Pixies on the track Debaser. "I am un chein ANDALUCIA!", "slicing up eyeballs" etc. Surrealists, eh?
Cool. And cool fact I will repeat that soon enough as have a few pixie loving friends.
 22.
The expected service life of a pro audio woofer is over 20 years before there's a chance of some of the adhesives breaking down. If an Eminence driver is not lasting decades then it's being misused (i.e. overpowered).
I agree with you fully about speaker service life but there are exceptions. The eminence delta series do on occasion fail at the surround not long after the warranty. I seen this happen so looked into it. There is also a vid of an audio company talking about this on youtube although they don't name the driver in question you can see what it is. Never seen this happen with other eminence drivers though.
 23. I do believe there will be a revival of traditional guitar bands. When people become board of sitting in or listening to someone play a computer. The old thing will again become the new thing.
 24.
Yeah it was inspired by the soundtrack from Un Chien Andalou
I looked that up! Very funny Actually hold on there was actually a soundtrack for it. So I'm confused if that was a joke or you really were inspired? Haha.
 25. If I get the machine heads lined up perfectly on the first go I instantly assume it's a sign of good luck and I do a little dance (true story). Sometimes I will also chant "4 in a row, 4 in a row" or a suitable chant for more tuning heads or 2x2 heads etc etc, For maximum effect. But other than that it's just a waste of effort specifically trying to get it perfect as over time the tunings will drift and the the string mechanical tension will change etc etc.
