  1. Still have Basslab GAS
  2. You need more basses. Simple. I tend to stick to one for weeks while the others watch. Actually it's been the limelight P for over 12 months now.
  3. I dunno the guys that play drums do ok. I like the minimal approach they use and that they swap vocals drums keys and guitars. It seems to work and they're fierce live too. Could a group like Vulfpeck happen in the UK?
  4. It's an Internet forum. That is all. Let go and move on. I enjoy your posts bub.
  5. You know Thomann offer a 30 day return/refund
  6. You looked on Talkbass? Might be an owners club thread. Kings seem to be quite highly regarded over there if I remember.
  7. Maybe a Warwick? Definately covers pickup, scale, spacing 16.5 but adjustable. Some models have an extended top horn, not sure if they have the fret requirement though.........
  8. Personally I'd get into the repetitive practice before throwing money at it, but I'm a tight northerner . My recollection of learning the basic technique (in the 80's!) pre YouTube, was that after hours, possibly days of thumping away it suddenly seemed to click and feel right. Same with ghost notes and muting, don't forget the muting! Keep practicing and your own style/technique/hand shape will develop. The thing I struggle with now is adjusting it to different bridge spacings, but that's probably because I won't push myself to persevere when I can easily pick up another bass that suits me more. Enjoy the Yamaha!
  9. Someone on the Bach thread had just ordered one. Quite tempted myself.
  10. It's my humble opinion no two *insert model/brand here* of anything sound identical. Wood is an organic material and each piece is unique which will have some impact on its resonance and sound producing properties. Throw in electrics, strings, paint or finish, amp, build quality and then the player. That's a huge recipe of minor differences that all add up to a slightly varying end product. Now, how about a nice non Fender P? I like red ones .......... Today http://youtu.be/cIiN7LRCA2Q
  11. I briefly owned a U.S. Sub, a 2 band Ray and a 34. The hands down winner for me was the Sub. The neck finish was quite worn so I sanded it off and oiled it. Lovely. The Ray, after many years of wanting to try one, came up at a really good price when I wasn't looking for one. I have to say it was really a bit of a disappointment even though it was near mint condition. The Sub felt and played nicer to me. Strangely I still get the odd gas pang when I see a natural finish Ray, especially an older pre EB. Usual words of advice - get out and try one.
  12. Gutted for you Andy. Hope you work out a solution.
  13. Basslab do this, they have a full headstock without tuner. I can't get a decent pic of the string retainer though. https://www.talkbass.com/attachments/img_1671-jpg.1075502/
  14. this is replaceable ?? (I know it is, but you know what I mean...? )
  15. I'm using A PJB DoubleFour. It's 75 watts with 2 x 4" drivers. It's ridiculously small, like a shoebox. The sound is clean and uncoloured, you really get to hear the natural sound of the bass through it.
  16. Spitfire! Be seated though when you check the price Here's a newly fitted P bass scratch plate. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/302235-new-spitfire-tort-for-my-64-precision https://spitfiretortoiseshellpickguards.wordpress.com/
  17. SIT Silencers are quite a decent compromise between flats and rounds. I'm not sure what they are, maybe groundwound(?), but my P bass has had some on for a year or so. They're not as smooth as flats and not as scratchy as rounds if that makes sense. TI's as mentioned are nice but the tension can take some adjusting to especially if you tend to dig in often.
  18. now I've read your description properly, at least the colours the same....!
  19. This type of thing ? http://basschat.co.uk/topic/302142-music-man-stingray-1998-transredrosewood/page__pid__3256223#entry3256223
  20. Nice being able to solely use a fretless. It is a requirement for the gig or your preference?
  21. Dingwall? I haven't any personal experience but they seem to have a lot of love.
  22. Enough sighing. Trades should be offered via PM. It's not complicated.
  23. I don't understand what it is. Does the shape add something to the sound ? I own a wishbass too so I'm familiar with wishnevsky but that confuses me. Double neck. Harp. Huh?
  24. Yeah that man has given me a few ear worms! Armin Metz has a great style and then I heard that fretless tone! I think I read the fretted was a Neuser and I forget the fretless. I really enjoyed the Nadishana trio , crazy instruments, and Mr Nadishana plays the sh*t out of all kinds of stuff. http://youtu.be/SbwCpO9XXTE
  25. Wow what a stunner! Congratulations finding such a beauty that plays well.
