What Dr.Dave said, make sure the saddles are level via the grub screws. You'll know if they're not because one side will turn really easily and the other, which has the pressure from the string on, will be harder to raise. You could always file a really small bit out just so it's makes better contact as well. And if you havn't intonated it like you say, it could be that the screw is a bit loose, try giving that a small turn as well.

Mostly musical, couple of places where it sounded wrong, the first run didn't really help and almost went into jazz fret w***ery. Needed a guitar and vocals for it to be a song though, really seemed to be missing that due to having good riffs and a repeating structure. Also, he could have lost the hat rather than messing with it about 10 times, that was distracting. He's definitely a good player and of course, much better than I.

Gail Ann Dorsey?

I feel a little wrong dropping this in here as it's not a basschat bass, but I know they're as rare as hens teeth and people are always hunting for them: PJ's in Portsmouth has a lefty Ric 4003 for sale apparently: http://www.guitaruk.com/products.php?subcatid=52&catid=3 Quite steep for a brand new one though at a shade under £1800.

Try before you buy! I'm not sure about the Tokai ones, but the standard Epiphone is massively different in neck dimensions to the Gibson one. It's quite odd, they're both thinish at the nut, but the Epiphone is very wide. It's something silly like 1.73" (standard Fender P-bass is 1.625"). The current Gibson one is around 1.5 (or at least, the Nikki Sixx version is) and the new Epiphone T-Bird Pro is also a 1.50" (which is Jazz Bass width). And you won't be going high on the frets either, the heel and the small cutaway get in the way on the basic Epiphone model, after about the 16th fret it becomes quite awkward. I don't find it too difficult to play, partly because it's thin it makes stretching easier, but you'd need to see whether you get on with it. I actually get along with it quite well although a tad slimmer widthwise would be nice. If I was still in the Midlands, I could have dropped off my Epi T-Bird if you wanted to get a feel (I can't really sell it to a BC member, it's a Friday afternoon special and the bridge isn't in the correct place by about 2mm meaning the E string is very near enough the edge of the fretboard, so it'll probably require some magic on the neck pocket to move it to the side a bit). Personally, I'm hankering after a T-Bird Pro. Neck through laminate neck and active 'leccies at <£400, and moved strap pins ? Yes please. They do sound the dogs bollocks though, even tho the sound is very much a rockier sound, it works well in lots of contexts and fits in well. EDIT: The 3 point bridge on the standard Epi and Gibson is crap as well, the Tokai and the new T-Bird Pro have much better bridges. I've actually got a Hipshot SuperTone replacement bridge in black sitting in my draw, bought to correct the problems with mine, sadly it wasn't enough to cure it, but if you or anyone else wants it, I'd be willing to part with it for £50, which is pretty much half of what I paid in Decemeber. Sadly lacking the large allen key as I was never given one, so that needs to be sourced as well.

Lovely coffee table CK! I'm always impressed by Mr Shukers work, but the combination of the midi controller into this instrument really does push it up a notch!

Oddly enough, either I've not had the experience of reverse tuners, or all of mine have been reverse tuners. Normal ones are where (on a fender 4 inline) you turn them anti clockwise yes?

Tomboy, silly question this, but you're splitting the Top-Middle section so you can put more rackmounts in yeah? And you're going to be screwing the lips of the rackmount items into the front facing parts of the vertical parts of the shelving? Is the wood thick enough to fit 2 lips side by side or are they going to over lap? eg) <-rackUnit1->|wood|<-rackUnit2->, is there enough wood to fit both lips on?

Errrugh. That's horrid.
Holy Jebus I've just spotted the new neck through epiphone thunderbird - £349! Everything's going tits up with the Pound going up, down, round and round, looping the loop and defying the ground.
? The price of the Epi T-Bird Pro is the same pretty much everywhere else, that's the price they've come out as (remember, they're brand new products).

I like the BTX400: http://www.bunker-guitars.com/btx_400.html I'd go with another bridge option though, fine tuners on a bass bridge? Pfffft.

I'd also suggest streches and a bit of gentle weight lifting, tone and bulk up the muscles a bit to support the weight better.

On the mention of Lemmy's boils, anyone know why he's never bothered to get them fixed? I'd imagine they'd be a royal pain the arse when shaving and possibly catching them on things.

Is the bass guitar fine?

I'd presume it's letter boxed size as the RM moved towards those sort of descriptions t'other summer. Should be a size guide of the RM website, I've used it before I think. -
Welcome to the forum.
Yeah, that too! OP: There's a chap in Warwick that's highly regarded (details in Luthier thread I think), worth a punt if you're on that side of Brum.

Jazz Bass 'Cumbersome' and 'A Blast From The Past'
Buzz replied to bremen's topic in General Discussion
Heh, Nevada music. I find that quote quite amusing seeing the range of basses they have in stock last time I went, seeing as (as per usual) roughly 75% of the stock were Fenders or Squiers of some description. I'm tempted to nip in to see if the situation has changed. Poncy Southerners. -
I present the sticky at the top of this very subforum: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26654 Apologies if you've already looked, but you've not mentioned it.

Learn to "service" it yourself, it's not overly difficult and a good skill to know, providing it doesn't need a stoning or similar (which would have been an issue before it went in storage). Lots of guides, a couple on here (search the forums and check the wiki), and lots on the interwebs. If you're really a pansy, there's a stickied list of recommeded repairmen/luthiers at the very top of the Repairs and Technical Issues subforum.

Cor, Kate Bush. Good song to boot, now if you don't mind, I'm going to go watch Running Up That Hill (w Gilmore), Comfortably Numb (KB w/ Gilmore), and both versions of Wuthering Heights on youtube! Might even do a dash for Phantom Of The Opera.
