Put that head on a different cab and you will have a completely different experience. Loudness is a personal experience also. What frequencies are perceived loudest by your ears? Cranking noise at those frequencies alone will change what you feel from 'lively' to 'racket'.

Wipe down, then fast fret, and wipe again. I use a bit of old t-shirt to wipe the neck and body down. This ritual is performed after every gig and practice. Thanks to this upkeep I change my strings about once a year, and I like them to sound fresh! Not brand spanking new but alive and singing.

But when you are playing your second open string your fretting hand has nothing better to do than muting the previous string before moving to the next note? Or use an idle finger on your picking hand, let it rest on the string you need to mute and play the note you want with your pick/index finger/what have you.

After days of checking out utoob reviews I ordered a MXR m82 aswell. The source audio sounblox sounded good too but sports way more options than I'd consider usefull. Chunk's Agent 00funk seems good too. Searching for as many soundclips as possible and listening with several headphones gave me a ballpark idea of what I was looking for in a filter.

If you own a soldering iron you can just make your own cables. It's good practice if you're starting out in fiddling with electronics and very cheap to buy a bunch of neutrik jacks (2 or 3 bucks retail?) And a lenght of good cable (I used Klotz). All my pedalboard connects are handcrafted in this way at the exact lenght they need to be.

Don't skimp on hearing protection, you can't buy new ears! Also, how can you afford to spend hundreds of bucks on basses, amps, cabs & effects and not want to pay to hear it all properly? Save up for the fitted ones!

For a festival project I have used 'A Lot of Germans'. Made more sense in the Netherlands.

There are so many brands that give you clean and Solid, most of them with their own flavor or 'signature' mixed in. SWR is a good one, and you may find what you seek in a Peavey, markbass (though more expensive), Kustom, Gallien Krueger, Hartke, Ashdown. They are all fine, the key is to try before you buy. Compare as many as you can! Also, have fun searching, the search alone taught me a lot.
