  1. Nice one, the late and certainly great James Honeyman-scott iirc had a bit of talent that boy, from just up the road in Hereford to.
  2. we have something to say, something to play and some people will pay!
  3. My mate lent me the Jaco solo album, hated it,at first, a lot of the vids on YT did nothing for me, but then I saw vid for the chicken from the Jerry Jemmott (sp?) vid, Schofield on guitar, Kennard on drums, Jaco funky as, went back to the solo album and I loved it.
  4. I have never been able to understand the signature Les Paul thing, after all its called a Les Paul because....... So a Slash or whoever Les Paul is a signature signature guitar then? humm..........
  5. I really enjoyed that, Ann and Nancy are superb in my book, always been a fan, looks like the Zep boys are enjoying it to.
  6. Indeed it did, and I say to all players who are out there week in week out, get it, don't think you are being clever or saving a couple of quid or that you don't need it, for just a couple of quid a week get yourself covered, NEVER rely on the venue was the lesson learnt for us.
  7. The brummy bass centre had its moments, that and the big comic shop (nostalgia iirc ) and the huge Virgin mega store made it a great day out on the train for a young Dredd crazed head banging 4 string maniac!
  8. In answer to your question flyfisher, YES and it was well worth it, PLI is the thing that when sh*t happens, and sadly it does happen, you wish you had it, trust me for the sake of £69.99 a year it was a godsend. (iirc our singer sorted it through the MU at the time)
  9. Always had it, not that expensive and well worth the cover. I would recommend it, better to be safe than sorry, especially if your band is looking to branch out venue wise.
  10. my Stingray, Status graphite neck, tuning stability is amazing, d-tuner for my Timmy C moments, 3 band control plate (bass is a 2EQ) as I prefer a side mounted jack socket, pick up stock, pre amp stock I like the music man originals.
  11. its not a stingray! sorry mate. Great sounding basses, awful pick guard, but you have to cover all them gubbins up some how, but they do play very well, but for me a Geddy Lee would have been a better choice.
  12. I woulds say leave them out, saw a band have major issues with a backing track once, which was funny, for the audience, but as a fellow player I felt bad for them. But they might work for you, good luck.
  13. She sure can gurn that lass, the vid that has the overdubbed sound effects had the corn flakes all over the keyboard, tidy playing though and that is def. there best song by far.
  14. 100%, look at the Sledge Ray and Sabre basses that are just out, what a stunning finish, to me anyway, in both cases why would you hide a finish that sweet under a bit of black plastic, get em off!
  15. Those sabre basses are sweet, but for me they have such beautiful tops that the pick guard just hides to much, that would be off straight away.
  16. Love it, always give Billy time, top man and a gent, Mr K was very impressive here, great voice will keep an eye out for this.
  17. Like a stone Timmy C ( Audioslave) like most of Tim's stuff a simple but clever bass line.
  18. I reached this point with my playing and sound, and I went about it in the following way. I love Phil Lynott and Bernard Edwards, in my head I wanted a sound that was the a mix of the "rock" of Phil with the "fat bass" of Bernard. Gear for me did have an influence on sound, I am lucky that I know a few people with studios and good friends with a local shop. I tried a range of basses, the Stingray was the overall best for me, I tried a range of amps (I had been a Trace man pretty much all the way up to here) and the EBS gear blew me away. NOW the bit that got interesting for me was shaping all this, as I am 90% of the time a pick player, but one of my pet hates with pick is not being able to hear the the actual note definition, just getting pick clank, also I have the same pet hate with finger style when all you can hear is the "rattle" of metal strings on wood but no actual note tone to the sound , so playing with the HD350 head controls and the Stingray and rehearsing/praccy at various volume levels I got what I wanted, funky/punky groovy Lizzy! It did take a couple of years to reach this point, but when I got the "Nice bass sound mate" or " thats a bit of a different thing you got going on there.." comments which I did and do, and yes it does make you a bit big headed for a few seconds, but, for me, job done. I got my sound I like it others seem to as well, it may not be to everyones taste but I stand by it and I know, when I have my gear and I set up, I am not hung up on sounding like anyone as my sound lets me sound how I want.
  19. http://youtu.be/ZYLsbcZfYL4 The mighty Bob Fazio, I find this mans playing to be inspirational and motivates to me to practice, a nice mix of styles and techniques, plus he is not boring either.
  20. That 82 is sweet, pickguard off, instant AC/DC! lol if you are looking to spend that sort of money, keep an eye out for the classics they do come up for sale (one on here last week iirc mint green) as you get the best of both worlds, slimmer neck, classic look 2eq, but with improvements, better hardware, roasted/flamed necks and most important 6 bolt neck very strong, tried a few and they are very very nice Stingrays.
  21. Need mine all the time, as I have a slight pigmentosiac issue with my eyesight as well as longsighted, this affects my depth of field vision in darkness, so if I play a venue without onstage lighting I have small light just off to side of me and everything is fine.
  22. Big fan here, all three of them are stunning players, great live band to, don't really have any problem with Sting.
