  1. http://youtu.be/H2OXuGSbaM0 Here's one from my old band a few years back, hope you enjoy.
  2. Bass guitars I have owned. Status Washburn 1000 Status 3000 headless flirtation, NO for me, but I did like Graphite neck Fender precision Lyte 2 of, sunburst and white sparkle. (both great basses did the job liked the active PJ combination but mainly used P ) Fender P Steve Harris Neck was a monster, not comfortable for me. Fender P deluxe USA, to hot on active, didn't suit what I wanted. Fender P Hotrod nice bass but still wasn't sure about PJ configuration on it Fender Jazz bass special Black, again PJ the neck width was neither really one of the other, japanese E series sold on nicely ) Yamaha Attitude 10 anniversary in black, sold on, great bass but neck heavy prone to dive, very chunky neck, did like the stereo thing, even thought about doing it again, but..... Rickenbacker 4001, just had to have one, then just had to sell it, not for me at all. G&L 2000 usa, nice machine in cherry sunburst, sadly gone. Moon JJ4 Larry Graham style Jazz bass, great machine, sadly gone (hate the economy ) EBMM Stingray 4 HH black, maple, hipshot, mirror plate, heartbreakingly gone EBMM Stingray 4 H Black rosewood, mirror plate, sadly gone to. Still own, EBMM Stingray 4 in fire engine red, hipshot, Status graphite neck the mutts. Fender Precision Roadworn fiesta red, sweet sweet bass. Breedlove Black diamond acoustic bass, battered but beautiful:)
  3. It is in really great condition though I love my Rays and man that would be one for the collection, but it is a lot of Scratch, Andy Baxter 'aint cheap but he sure does find some very nice stuff.
  4. It is your bass mate, so do what you want, I agree with a lot of the comments on the issue of when it comes to passing your bass on, if you do that is. Good to hear what stuff your playing as the man and his music is very close to my heart, but if asked what would I do, I must admit I would not put a decal on it, I would save me money and get a black Fender precision and do the mirror scratch plate, now if money is a bit tight have you seen the lizzy bass at the bass centre (part of the bass collection irrc) Very good value for money and the bass looks pretty good to. Are you ready to rock.
  5. The Mass produced selling sh*te and labelling it as fudge being pedalled by the likes of X-factor, voice etc...... very few have any real talent just a massive marketing machine behind them, sadly there are many decent bands and muso's who will never get the backing that allot of these cowell clowns get.
  6. Damn, damn damn! The world of guitar playing just got a little bit slower and little less tasty, going home is enough to recharge anyones batteries, one of the true greats has left us again brothers, RIP Alvin you will be sorely missed.
  7. it has its moments, but they are few imho. But it is easy viewing, enjoy the roast
  8. Well Steve and I met up, I drove away with his stunning Fender Precision Roadworn and he drove away with my cash Steve has been a top man through out, glad we could do a deal, 100% all the way. Lynottfan.
  9. I have a StatusRay as I call it, the Status graphite necks are the best in the business imho, the sonic differences are a brighter tone, more even harmonics, but be careful if you push the treble settings though, the lovely brightness can turn into a horrible brittle glassy sound, the tuning stability is amazing and really the biggest plus for me, I am a bit of animal and have pounded my bass on stage for 2 hours straight, checked the tuning and the thing was rock steady all night. The status necks are EBMM factory specs in terms of dimensions, the fretboards (phenolic) are very comfortable and flat. The work very well for everything from slap, tap, finger style or good old simple pick and play Status will supply you with a neck fully loaded to go, if you pay them, I found a couple of excellent guys in the Midlands to do my work, in particular Lance Perkins at the Guitar Studio near Evesham is one of the VERY best. I am sure they may be others out there who can do a Status Graphite conversion for you, cost is going to be around £100 depending on what you want (I had Hipshot and few other little trick bits) Bottom line is a Graphite neck worth it on a Stingray, for me YES, good luck mate.
  10. Good to see JJ, Phil Lynott and 'Arry in there, no Bruce Thomas, or no........ the list goes on and rather sums up why these polls of top players are basically rubbish, The OX not No1 recount Cheers for sharing and some of it was good for laugh.
  11. Hey Bert, when written out like that it was a rather poetic response, so me the four string groover, could be a literacy mover (I promise to stop
  12. My bass sits lower than midrift, got my pick going like a good un' and I don't really have much use for slap, but man that boy Mark King can play and I like L42, infact Mark is one of those players that, though I have no desire to play like them, they inspire me to play better, some can love, some can hate, but Mark King's playing I have to rate.
  13. Good programme, but so many people missed the point, simple rock n roll and Beatles tunes, the orchestra came later folks, I am Kloot bass player was good, that would have been my approach to it to, melody riff line, nice!
  14. Lizzy Dancing in the moonlight, great little bass riff.
  15. I could never get the feel for the 5 banger, tried a Stingray 5 as I am a Stingray man, but even then it was just not comfortable at all, so it was a hipshot d-tuner and 4 strings forever, good luck to all that can make the switch.

  17. HI All, New to bass chat, been a bass man for few years now, Stingray and EBS gear in the main, looking to go stereo, hence a post in the wants section. Love me Bass, JJ, Billy, Ox, Hooky, Phil, not a big fan of slap, so much effort for so little use in the real world, but Mark KIng and Larry Graham and Louis Johnson are amazing in my book. Mainly plectrum player, but can roll out the three finger sheehan method when required hope all well and speak more soon. Andrew aka Lynottfan.
