1. I am a late 40-something as a starting point, from before the interweb (although not before cassettes) and I think there is a generational thing here with a sense of entitlement having become the norm. I simply don't understand why making music should be treated differently to other professions in terms of protection. Sure if you choose to make your music freely available then fine, thats your choice (and as pointed out above there are some logical, marketing-type reasons for doing so). But to have it done against your will is a different kettle of fish. There should be a choice on the part of the artist in my view. And the argument that 'the horse has already bolted' does not make it right
2.
I'm not a Ritter fan either particularly, but that's fabulous.
I normally post pictures of the world's ugliest dog upon mention of Ritter but that has rather taken me aback. Wonderful bass, Barrie!
3. I could arrange special extended payment terms ...
4. Sorry Chris but i am calling my relationship quits with Ricks. Break to my left hand a couple of years ago (which means I cramp up with narrow necks) has done for me - its Precisions and double basses for me (mainly ...)!
5. Thank you gents, didn't think of altering the endpin ... and I have slightly shifted the bridge (as to my eyes it was off-centre) prior to it going to Malcolm Healey so between these I may have a solution. Fingers crossed! And thanks again
6. I got my old German flatback from being repaired by Malcolm Healey a week or two back and have been playing it like mad since then. Just one thing annoys me a bit (not a lot, as Paul Daniels would say) and thats a buzz from somewhere in the body when I hit the open 'A'. The harder I hit the string the louder the buzz. Doesn't happen on any other note (open or fingered) and I've checked the soundpost (solid as a rock) and the various seams (all glued). Its difficult to pinpoint where its coming from, just somewhere vaguely in the body. Is this a problem others have encountered and what did you do about it, if anything? Cheers Clarky PS, I could of course take it back to Malcolm but its a c2 hour round trip each time I deliver and collect
7.
Oh yes and is this pub showing the football by chance ?
TBH I don't kno (I've never played there before so don't know the setup). However its Germany v Greece so not the most exciting!
8.
I'll be out of the country
Extreme way to avoid one of my gigs Jack. You could have said you have a cold
9.
sounds like a Ric btw
It does indeed, thanks! Same body wood (maple) and thru-neck construction plus Rick electronics = total doppelganger in sound stakes. And its a lot cheaper than a real one
10.
I may try to come along too, late work permitting, if I can find a reasonable way of getting back to W4 by tube after the gig. I've pencilled it in.
Cool thanks! We will be debuting a new uptempo Mexican style song .... which is nice
11.
One of the nicest basses ever to make an appearance on these pages IMO
+ lots. Gorgeous
12. Bump. Great value considering the original parts (eg, the bridge pickup assembly alone costs £245 to buy http://www.ricsrus.com/Pickups.html)
13. Nearly 25% off new price and its in pristine nick
14. Thanks and here's a little clip to show one in action (not me playing - I don't own such a classy shirt) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1PbnbbIpEw
15. I bought a fretless U-bass a few months ago on a whim but it just sits in its cute little padded case un-played as I have been concentrating on double bass and more recently my 5-string bass. Someone else should have fun with this. Its in very good condition (no point taking a pic as its looks just like a stock one) and the advantage of buying it second hand rather than new is the rubbery strings have stretched somewhat and so don't go (quite as) quickly out of tune! They go for £339 including post at BassDirect http://www.bassdirec...lists/Kala.html so how about £260 handed over (I am in London) or £270 posted?
16. On hold for Tom
17. Euphonic Audio Wizzy 12 cab, served me well for gigs over the past year but surplus to requirements now I have an Acoustic Image Ten2 combo. Good condition with custom padded EA cover. I paid a bargain £200 from BC's BB2000 (aka John) and added the cover at a cost of £30 from an eBay seller. Will sell for £200 collected (London, I live nr Hammersmith ) or £220 posted. Here is John's original FS thread with some very clear pics http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1231417
18. If you have FaceBook (not everyone does!) I posted the vid in the R*ickenfaker group page. Its pretty poor playing as I haven't used a pick in a year and I had no idea what to play when I hit the recording 'on' switch, but you get the drift sound-wise http://www.facebook....oid=78514186083
19. Father's day bump £500 or FT vs US/CIJ Fender (with cash adjustment possible depending on the bass)
20. Ultra-transportable and equally useful for DB and electric ... with a cute padded shoulder-bag Will post for a tenner
21. I used to own this and can confirm its a beautiful, one-off bass. Has the fabulous AC preamp (passive/active) and a slick neck. Super nice bass
22. Barg with added brand new Rockbag ^^^^
