1.
Shouldn't this type of thread be pinned?
You'll find this type of thread in the "Amps & Cabs" section. I thought there was something similar pinned there. Just checked & it's the top pin. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/135-impedance-etc/
2. I think over the years AC has produced some brilliant basslines. They may not be hard to play, but they're certainly either melodic or make a good groove.
3.
Not strictly true... you can but you get missmatched loads
Which it would actually make sense to use different ohm cabs if the cabs were different. E.G. a 16 ohm 2x10 with an 8 ohm 4x10. This way all the drivers are getting the same from the amp. Whereas if you were to use a 2x10 & 4x10 that were both 8 ohm, the 2 10s in one cab would be getting the same power as the other 4 in the other cab.
4. Either series or parallel is gonna be fine. 2 16 ohm in series would be fine too, as that would be 32 ohm, but not many people want to do that.
5. Gold... But only if you change all the hardware to gold too.
6. I've had him in several guises. Both as a guitarist & as a singer. I think the problem is that there are too many people who want to "play" guitar or "sing" in a band, but they haven't attained the required skills.
7. I've started learning ukulele too. Would like to try Bouzouki some time. At the end of the day, each instrumet is there to fill a bigger purpose. Though I think more guitarists could benefit from knowing this.
8. Why not stick the wheelboard on the side of the 2x12? Lay it down to move it. Sacktrolley FTW though!
9. I used to play my electroacoustic through my Markbass 2x10 combo. Sounded good too. I've not tried it through my crrent 4x10 rig.
10.
Sir, we obviously move in different social circles.
11.
No, all the pixies I've ever seen have all worn pointy hats, rather like Noddy (although he's not a pixie; it's just that he wears a pointy hat similar to that worn by all the pixies I've ever seen, but with a bell, that's all...).
Are you sure you're not mixing up your "x" with a "k"?
12.
NOOOOOOO. I have really struggled for inspiration on this fairy topic and put in an entry that's just about fairy nuff, and mow I find it's a picture of an ELF !! Oh my days !
I thought it was a pixie.
13. I'll give a shout to the Markbass LMII/III. Just because I had one & it was a great amp. My current amp has no DI. It's not little either, but it does sound good.
14.
Do you have no appreciation at all of how good Rutger Gunnarsson's playing is in this song?
Quite the contrary, my good man. Musically, I love ABBA & most of their songs are superb. But the intro to Dancing Queen & the vocals on it just grate on my nerves. The individual instruments are superb, but all together, it's horrible.
15. I absolutely hate dancing queen, so IMO you can only improve it. If I could have my way, a metal cover would be ideal. Get every copy of the f***ing song that exists, including digital, bury them as deep as you can & pour molten metal into the hole, covering every copy there is.
16. It really depends on what string you're coming from. It makes sense to bend the strings nearest the fretboard edge away from the edge, but for the other strings, the only thing you need to take into account is what string you're coming from, what string you'll be going to & the bend hits the right note. For example, if you're playing the A string & want to bend a note on the D string, then it makes sense to bend the string away from the A string. Then if you're playing the G string & want to bend a note on the D string, it makes sense to bend the string towards the A string. Though this depends on where your next note is going to be.
17.
Watching various youtube clips it does seem that the accepted method is to push up...
Don't you mean there's lots of videos of people doing it wrong? If someone told me I was bending the string the wrong way, I'd tell them that their fx pedals are in the wrong order.
18. Do you play in a band? If so, it might be time to have a change of songs & style. If you don't play in a band, get a DAW & get using your instruments for their intended purposes & write some tunes. There's a monthly comp on here that could get your juices flowing. I try to enter a song every month.
19.
They supply blank 'slabs' as well, so you can pick any shape you like. Here's one I made earlier:
I've seen your finished guitar...
20. Or stolen?
21. I've had to google what "Post Punk" is. Turns out it's just about anything from U2 to The Cure (they were classed as Goth back in the 80s) to the Human League. I suppose technically, anything you play from 1977 onwards is Post Punk.
22. True enough. I find Windows based devices are good for making you frustrated & then taking frustration out on them, then replacing them with something that works.
23. I use an iPad to run Korg Gadget (which is now on my phone). It's a great bit of kit. I also use it for just storing music related things, like chords, score & lyrics.
24. I've still got my first bass, a Vox Standard, which I bought in 1985. So that's 32 years, but it is in bits. My main keeper that's still played to this day, is my Ibanez SR1000e. Bought it new in May 1990.
25.
No
