1. Where's the 'tache?
  2. www.the-overlook.com

Female lead singer
lots of backing vocals
We get kids involved (if you have kids there) - get them singing Jessie Jay 'Price Tag' or something.
Very thorough, we can either sit in the back ground and be invisible or be brash and up front and interactive.
Will learn and play specific tunes on request
The set list is massive; 50's/60's rock and roll, 70's disco and funk, 80's ballad rock, 90's Dance/pop and rock and then stuff like Kylie, Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys
Happy to send and agree on specific set lists and intervals too
Happy for musical people to fill in on songs on our kit (done this a few times with guitar playing and bass playing guests who want to do 'Johnny Be Goode')
We also use our kit for announcements/speeches (coralling people) and stuff like 'Auld Lang Syne'.....radio mic's!
We charge ~£1000 most events. ** we are lovely people who are married with kids and actually enjoy entertaining! And no doubt the singer will buy you a wedding gift! ***We have a residency at a club in Windsor, so happy to send details if you want to see us live. Congrats by the way! Glad you are able to get involved - I kinda got shoved out of the way organising my wedding.....literally turned into a cash machine!
  3. Quote the dark lord: Walk Like an Egyptian by The Bangles for the first time this Friday and have been frantically swapping notes about whether the bass or guitar will carry a representation of the keyboard and or horn section parts The bass line on walk like an Egyptian does not fit the drum exactly - it is a slightly separately groove - noticeably odd. You have to groove yourself to the timpani run near the beginning.
  4. Nope - we learn separately and rehearse everything thoroughly; all about the backing vocals. Some of the stuff we do is complex and bass/guitar sometimes fills for synth parts, so effects need to be setup. **We get ~£400 per gig for pub gigs and ~£1000 + for wedding and corporate. So, needs to be rehearsed and right - like 'Hey Jude', we have a process for a sing-a-long or if the crowd aren't gonna do that. If there are kids present, then we get them to sing 'Price Tag' by Jessie J..... So, it is more about a professional/flexible thang.
  5. www.guypratt.com refresh! No new tour dates though :-(

  8.
It was okay, a bit of a montage of previous Hendrix 'Rockumentory's' and old interviews - some new footage and pictures a some great stuff from Eddie Kramer (but nothing new really, almost reciting his book about Hendrix TBH). Enjoyed watching it because Hendrix was such a great player.

Although Paul McCartney *may* have been responsible for some of Hendrix's career progression, he just comes across really badly about it.......

Unfortunately, I am a bit of a Hendrix junky, so, I have read and watched most of the stuff on him over the years. The film gives a good insight for those less obsessed!

I would like to see a film about Terry Kath (Played for Chicago/CTA); I love Kath's playing and Hendrix cited Kath as 'The best guitar player'....

http://www.terrykath.com/
Re-Rigging

Hoping that the gaps at the back of the rack will be sufficient :-s The amp cools from the top, so, as long as I leave a gap between the front layers, I *should* be okay....

    Re-Rigging

So, I now have a 4u rack case for my GK 1001rb ii. The Plan; Mount the GK in the bottom 2u Leave a 1u space Mount a tuner in the top 1u At the back Mount power conditioner 1u bottom Mount a half tray + Tech21 VT DI preamp 1 u middle Mount a wireless 1u top The plan is to wire up so that I have a line splitter (Boss LS-2) on the floor and switching my signal between the GK preamp and the Tech 21 VT DI preamp which will driver the effects return on the GK (effectively bypassing the GK pre amp) Any thoughts or problems you can see? (aside weight!)
  12. Hmm - My wife never actually stops me, I just know there will be hell to pay if she finds out...even though I am the primary earner in the house and have been for some years (kids eh!).... Same as going out with mates. She is happy for me to go out when I want until the small hours.....It is the atmosphere the next day that makes me stop and think and even though I have a stinking hangover, she will land me with the kids and a load of tasks.....Hangover and small kids is just the worst. E.g - My leaving do from a job I had been in for 8 years; I organised a few beers with mates, got home at midnight in a bit of a state; Hangover the next day; My wife spends £750 on shoes on my credit card.....my daughter was only a year old at the time and I apparently woke her up in the night. Turned out to be a tough day.... So, no, I don't f*ck with the status quo. Not worth the hassle.
  13. I will try and get the driver repaired; already mailed a few people. I got a mail from GK saying that the supported replacement for the RBX range was the NEO driver. They also stated that it would definitely change the tone of the cabinet, something I was keen to avoid. From the UK GK distributer: NEO 200w 32 ohm - £125 + vat RBH 200w 32 ohm - £103 +vat I could just replace with all RBH drivers (as they have been a mainstay of the GK line for a long time) or buy a new cab....
  14. There is an RBX 410 for sale on Gumtree, in Port Talbot, if you want cheap power.....only about 9lb more weight than a NEO 410...
  15. I have a GK RBX 410, Unfortunately, I have had a speaker let go; it appears that the coil has lost control of the cone, i.e. the movement is way more than it should be for the given volume compared to the other speakers. I use a GK 1001RB ii head and the bi-amp function. As such, I went to the UK GK distributor for a replacement speaker; cue the problem... The part number: 082-0460-A (Paragon 32 ohm 200W 10" driver) is not available anymore and the recommended replacement is part number 082-0470-B (Neo 32 ohm 200w). My problem is 2 fold; 1, the Neo speaker appears to have a different range and bandwidth to the original paragon speaker - see the neo 410 cabinet specs 2, The Neo speaker is more expensive than the RBH speaker of the same specification ($139 for the Neo and $129 for the RBH) The RBX cab is ~4 or 5 years old. The original OEM speaker has already gone out of support and availability within 5 years, I cannot get a reasonably priced replacement that is exactly the same spec as the others..... What gives Gallien Krueger? 5 years old and completely out of support for the OEM parts? I have ordered and fitted RBH speaker (the eminence designed one) as at least it fits in with the range of the OEM speakers and is cheaper than the NEO - I am also aware that the RBH range is very long lived, wonder how long before the Neo specs change and parts again become unavailable. The only problem is that the grill touches the cork edging to the speaker - I will mount the grill on rubber gromits to move it away. I am now considering replacing all the speakers with Eminence B810 or the RBH speakers.....at considerable cost, just so that the cabinet remains balanced. I loved the tone of it and fear it now being ruined by the fact that it is out of support so quickly. General question; How long would you expect your bass gear to remain in support from your manufacturer with part availability? **As a major troll...I have this question also on talkbass.....hoping RAG will answer!

  17. Price drop bump: £40 + postage (if required)
  18. HI All, Not sick of my GK sound at all, but I am wondering if I can run a DI box in the effects loop on my GK 1001RB ii? We do some Motown stuff and the GK is a bit too growly for it!
  19.
I don't know what he is getting so worked up about, to be honest with you . The truth is that no one has actually listened to any of his records since O.K Computer
I would go so far as to say as far back as 'The Bends'....
  20. Anyone gat a Stingray with the graphite neck made by Status? Would love to hear about how that sounds!
  21. Hi All, I have a GK BLX 115 for sale: 200 Watt driver 8 ohm Rear ported None Biamp Single 1/4" jack connection The above picture is from t'internet, in lieu of my iPhone playing up - will hopefully sort a proper pic this weekend. The cab is ~25kg in weight and is in good condition. I bought it from another basschatter, but the cabinet is not going to work for me and my intentions with it. Happy to post the cab; I won't box it, but I will wrap it and put cardboard over the vulnerable bits for transit. Postage is about ~£15 in the UK with interparcel. It can also be collected locally in West London. Or you can arrange your own courier collection. I have put it up for £70, but I am open to offers - I am not looking to make anything on this item, just cover the costs of a Hipshot BT1 or swap for a BT1 (short key in Chrome). I am also open to swaps on: MXR Micro Amp, Big Muff Bass, Qtron/envelope filter....some kinda effects! Will post a picture when my iPhone finally works......! Dropped to £50 + postage.
  22. I currently use a GK 1001 RB ii - Great amp, but a very specific sound. I struggle with some of the pop and motown/rock and roll covers that my band do. I use an RBX 410 cab at the moment and I am selling my RBX 115 (8 ohm) (actually an incorrectly badged BLX 115) for £70, I will post it too for about £15. Great amps, but be aware that the tone may not suit a wide range of music. With the 1001 RB ii running the 410 (8 ohm), I have never had a volume issue......even in some big places.
