Just scored one of these from Enrico on the forum, Great bass to play, but a bit middy for me.......what can I do for low cost?!

Change pickups?
Difficult as they are 5 string twinjazz and there does not appear to be many options aside rewinding the originals.

Preamp?
The configuration is odd - selector switch for coil taps, 2 x volume controls and a tone control. I could put in an OBP1 with a stacked pot for bass and treble - any other thoughts? Any other thoughts?

It also has some buckle rash on the back. So, it is used and gigged! The neck is quite pretty; quite swirly and has some birdseye markings. Sounds, well, like a stingray! Excuse the mistake in the below vid, if it works...... :-) https://www.dropbox....0pww/pV8f66T2oA Looking for a trade for either a Lakland DJ4 or 5 or cash sale. Can be collected from West London, I can post the bass, but you have to arrange your own courier. Now down to £675, including an unfitted Hipshot BT1 bass xtender
Hey guys, this sounds great but it's a bit too early for me to confirm. Also, I don't have a car so getting there will be a bit of an issue.
Worst case, there will be a few heading in from West London, I am sure a lift can be blagged if required! I am in Uxbridge/Ruislip area, but I am sure there are a few further in.

Also, different stadiums have different access to services, utilities and facilities and access to those services, utilities and facilities *could* have been a factor in the NFL decision. After all, it was the NFL that decided the deal for the show......probably lead by the massed media and the unpredictability for any of the RHCP's to shout a profanity or lob out a cock onstage, live to the nation....... I don't think that the NFL take these decision's likely and neither do the RHCP.
I've seen this argument come up a couple of times and it makes me chuckle. Seperate sets of wireless and amps kept out of the way. Levels determined seperately pre-game during the sound check. I assume they've got a budget big enough for atleast one channel per performer so no level changing is needed. I don't see how it's all that complicated? Infact I'm pretty sure that many if not most of us here could organise it with a decent enough budget.
And I assume that you would be: Building the stage Rigging lights and lighting consoles rigging PA and integrating sound (considerable amount of cabinets for sub and mid) into the stadium sound system laying all the cable runs Providing media integration for TV audio and visual then weather proofing it all in 10 minutes..... Ultimately - in the timescale, playing live and making it professional and slick was unrealistic. Whether you think less of the Red Hot's miming is up to the individual.
-
Technically, the Red Hot's and Bruno Mars played the track.....Just not at that time.... There is no way you could expect to put on a full, professional live performance to millions of people in that short a timescale without issues or perhaps a sullied performance due to inclement weather. The super bowl half time show has become 'legend' in the USA and the NFL will only want to encourage that for the fans and deliver. This is really more about the expectation of the audience and the actual ability to deliver a high quality show in such a short time with limited kit (I am pretty sure that they won't have been allowed to set up all of their onstage backline and FOH kit - which takes hours of labour!)
Bootlegs from crappy phone recordings at gigs are a weird issue. I'd have every sympathy with Prince about distribution of original material - DVD rips / music rips etc. But amateur bootlegs....? He'd be better off following Metallica's example - you can get a 'desk-mix' from them of almost every show they did over the last few years, usually only the day after the gig. I still have old tapes from going to Donington 20 years ago. Well dodgy sound, but the occasional blinding song audible out of the sound of airborne bottles of piss. Happy days!
I was backstage at that Metallica gig, sat next to Blaze Bailey in one of the hospitality tents! Whats was unreal was that they were helicoptered in about 10 mins before being onstage, did a blinding set. I don't particularly like Metallica, but the guy that sings and plays rhythm guitar is an incredible musician; singing and doing such complex guitar work. They flew straight out after the gig...... Watching the bottles of pee bobbing about from the stage area was quite funny - it was like a hypnotic dance of old lemonade bottles across the whole audience.

I use swr golight 112's. Handy in terms if weight and flexibility. I can take 1 cab to rehearsals and use both for gigs. I have had powerbags made by www.amplifiercoversonline.co.uk just so that I can carry my entire rig over my shoulder! The rig is plenty loud enough, even over our aggressive drummer, projects really well and handles 5 string without distorting or vibrating. I am really chuffed with 2x 112; my rig gas is gone.
