1. Feeling the 'ray love here....! Thinking about buying a cheap P bass and routing in a MM pickup....
2. Swap the neck for a status graphite stingray neck....
3. I think my ultimate bass would be a precision/musicman pickup format in a 51 precision body, with an f hole...rosewood/maple neck or graphite neck.... I feel a build coming on!
4. Well, okay - stingrays are not one trick ponies and mine is a 3eq. I plonked on a fresh set of roto's and the tone is quite lovely. However, we play a huge variety of music and I generally only have 1 really great tone. I bought a schecter California custom jazz bass cheap on eBay, it is bloody marvellous - great sound straight away (emg pickups and preamp + hipshot bridge) only drawback is the 35" scale....I could be gassing over nothing but felt I could cover more tones with a pj or pm format....the schecter has a few sounds on demand with the preamp.
5. Persuade or dissuade me! I quite fancy a pj or pm format bass like a schecter model t or a sandberg pm. I am not sure.....I love my mm stingray, but it is a 1 trick pony! Am I being a twat?
6.
I don't have the GK yet but yep am looking at just sending the lows as I believe it has a bi amp. When it blew it was quite funny as it literally just kept pouring out the air vent. Sorry didn't take any pics at the time and hurried out the venue to let them clear it up ;-)
I would read the GK manual, I am not 100% sure the GK will do what you are asking - If I understand you. I had a GK 1001rbii - The biamp gives you 1 amp for full range and 1 amp for tweeter only on a 4 pole speakon cable. You can control the output split using the 'woofer cut' button on the front of the amp. However, this only works into 1 GK cab with the bi-amp interface (NEO, SBX, RBX and RBH cabs) You could have a cable made to split out the 2 signals into full range (woofer cut) and high end.......But I don't think that GK recommend this.
7. if you are looking to make an entire audience experience 'the brown note' then you need this amp. Have a bump on me.
8. Hi All, I am 'considering' selling or trading my late 90's MM Stingray (Full USA stingray). Value £800 The bass is black, with a black pickguard and rosewood neck. The finish has some scratches, 1 big scratch on the front and buckle wear on the back. There is a small neck 'dent' at the third fret on the underside of the neck, does not hinder playing, it is smooth. The action is low and does not suffer from any fret buzz. The neck has some flame and birdseye swirls in the neck and is rather nice for a Stingray, not too extravagant, but looks like someone selected the piece of wood specifically because of the birdseye and the flame. The bass is strung with GHS boomers, I will include a fresh set of Rotosound 45/105's too. There is a padded ritter case included which is in great condition. I will post a couple of pics when iCloud wakes up..... Considering trades for Jazz basses high or mid end of the scale - cash either way. **Now Withdrawn **
9. Awesome bass bump. Any trades?
10. Pm'd
11. Hi, I don't think that overseas shipping is possible without huge cost.
12. Still for sale?
13. Still for sale?
14. Bump as gk 1001rb back up for sale!!
15. Paging Spacechick.....oh! Already contributed! For me; Pulse - the dark side live CD 2 I think. 'Is there anybody out there' - The Wall live Those are the 2 I listen to the most - the aggression in The Wall record is immense.....
16. There is a possibility....my folks live in Hereford and my Father in law makes a few trips to Cardiff monthly.
17. After gigging the 1001rb this weekend, I don't think I can sell it.......too reliable and the tone is reliable in different venues. However, I can shift the 115 and the 410 cabs; £130 each local collection/meet withing 20 miles of Uxbridge.
18. @dave - what kinda sounds do you get? I would like to be able to get a warm tube tone and a nice rock tone. Currently use a gsllien 1001rbii as my main amp am a tech 21 vt pre am into the effects return for an ampeg like tone. I am also thinking if the shuttle max with 2 x swr golight 112s
19. I was thinking shuttle max head and 4 x 112 cabs.....4ohm on each power amp as such. Then I have a take home rig, small gig rig and big gig rig.....,
20. Hi, I am not sure that I am 'cool' with shipping the amp. I can box it up, but would prefer that you arrange your own courier/insurance and collection. I don't think I will be able to ship it in the rack case.....
21. The question is; Do I need the volume. I have used the GK 1001 @ 8 ohm on a few big gigs and not really pushed it - through a 410 though. Thinking at a 2 x 112 setup witha 500w/600w amp may be enough for me, function rooms can be a bitch to fill though.
22. Genz Benz Shuttle 6.2 vs Euphonic Audio Micro Genz has a headphone out and a tube preamp - but really, what am I gonna get from these? I am switching out my heavy duty GK rig for something allot lighter and more neutral. Thoughts and experiences please - reliability/tone and real world volume/usability.
23. Doh! I am even considering selling my MM 4H in black with rosewood - then you can actually be Flea!
24. HI All, I am selling my GK 1001rb ii + RBX 410 cab and SBX 115 Cab. I will throw in an extra gk blx 115 cab + 2 biamp cables 1m and 2m made by our own obbm (bassic-bits.co.uk) Reason - Weight and power. Too heavy for me to handle on my tod and it is way more powerful than I need. Comes with rack kit and in a 4u rack case. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- RBX 410 - http://www.gallien-k...ds/rbxcabs1.pdf 800 Watt Biamp cab, I have replaced 1 of the driver with an RBH driver. I am awaiting the return to the repaired original driver which can be swapped back. In good condition, no obvious wear and tear. Wheels are fitted, front ported. Weighs about 45kg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- SBX 115 - http://www.gallien-k...als/sbxcabs.pdf 400 Watt Biamp cab - no obvious signs of wear, front ported and has wheel holes, no wheels fitted. Weighs about 25kg - pretty light cab ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most of the time, I use this rig in bits, to rock gigs I take the 410. To jazz/milder gigs I just take the 115. To big gigs I take the lot, sadly, we are doing more big gigs.......and my back hurts. Local collection/local'ish meet is possible - West London/Thames Corridor. Or people can try it at our studio in Uxbridge. Open to trades for a lightweight amp!
