1. yeah usually, there's normally a few people with an amp there and they don't mind sharing, everyone is pretty considerate towards everyone else's gear and i will always ask before i try, same with everyone else i would imagine
2. i just turn up, even if i don't know anyone, us basschatters are a friendly bunch i made a few friends
3. wrong forum
4.
Who? Actually the real problem was finding one of him wearing a £9.99 Timex from Argos!!
d'oh! it actually looks like them! especially with the massive looking stage
5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Bit of a shame IMO. I actually really like the fatter "U" shape. I suspect I'm in a minority though.
not at all, i remember the first time i played my (your) 'wick at that bass bash and really didn't get on with the neck, but i've learned to love it is the nut width still the same?
6. if you're into the musicman sort of thing, a SUB bass would be great, i used to have one and they were great VFM and sounded pretty much exactly like a real ray. Discontinued now, so you have to buy used.
7. hmm ok, this could be fun basses: musicman sterling 4, musicman bongo 4 tuned B-E-A-D, warwick corvette $$ (see, being realistic!) amps: ampeg SVT 2 pro, mesa 400+ cabs: ampeg 810, ampeg 410, ampeg 115 pedals: morley wah, EHX bass muff, some form of compressor
8. warwick corvette $$: 1mm, 3mm, 3mm ish the guy at the guitar shop said my action was particularly high, i didn't think it was that bad, i thought it was about average, seems i was about right.
9. bought a sansamp from roger, really nice guy to deal with, put it on hold for me for 3 weeks and didn't badger me at all, even though i was having some trouble with payment, buy with confidence!! thanks!
10. hmm, thanks for the input, i may have to get an ABM cab then
11. warwick corvettes are very nice, they're very versatile and growly sounding and if you get an active one, the preamps are excellent. The necks are very skinny, about the same width as a jazz bass, but in profile, they're pretty fat, whereas a jazz neck would be skinny and flat, if you see what i mean. It's personal preference, but i find mine very comfortable. Hope that helped
12. since when was 1990 vintage?
13. yeah definitely, i've just upgraded from an electric blue 180 to an ABM 300, loving the sound! the valve drive on it is great just turned up a smidgeon. just thinking about getting the cab to go with it now.
14. i've heard the ABMs do sound better... though i'm not sure in what way. I may look up some reviews on harmony central.
15. so i'm thinking about getting a new cab, an ashdown ABM 210 to use with my band, so i can have some speakers at home and some at the practice rooms as i usually have to take the bus, and take my head on the bus with me. I'll most likely be using the ABM 210 on it's own, and my question is this. I find my MAG 210 to be a little lacking in bottom end, great for mids/highs, and that's fine when i use it with my MAG 115, but if i want to use the ABM 210 on it's own, will i find a similar lack in bottom end?
16. sweet really classy looking rig
17. so i played with it a bit today sans sansamp (postie didn't bother ringing the doorbell), and i got a really nice sound out of it. Bridge 'bucker mode on my warwick, cut the bass a bit, small treble boost and a big boost in the mids and you've got a really nice workable metal sound, add a touch of valve drive (and i mean just a touch) and it really makes that sucker growl! brings out a really nice high mids frequency that cuts through really well too, lovely! this is just from playing along to some music on my pc though, i'll see how it goes at band practice on sunday. Sansamp tomorrow so even more tones to play with, oooh!
18. nice one quite pretty that, i love the maple necks with binding and pearl blocks, if that body was a 3 tone sunburst i'd be all over it! Not sure that bridge is original though
19. argh, if i was closer i'd totally have this
20.
Are they safe for storing basses. More interested in hearing about neck/bass damage rather than them falling off the wall.
I've been using them for a couple of years and never noticed any problems with the necks on any of my basses/guitars Also, i have two in my bedroom, i live with my dad, no way they're going anywhere else
21. how long did it take for you to find a photo of dusty hill playing the same bass you have?
22.
That's a lovely P.
my thoughts exactly
23. sorry i kind of misread. Fine grade wire wool can take the gloss off a gloss finish. You COULD just oil the body a la warwick, if that's what you mean?
