1. I know a couple of people who have done this, one of them used a big ass soldering iron thing, like a BIG one to heat up the fretwire, melting the glue, then use some fret pullers to extract the frets. LukeFRC on here did it too, but he did it another way.
2. p-basses aren't usually my thing, but i quite like that! good luck
3.
I thought all barts used bar magnets, so string spacing shouldn't make much difference; providing the strings vibrate within the magnetic field created by the magnets. Or have I got it wrong?
Spot on
4. I noticed that, same price i paid for my 5 string righty, very nice bass for the money
5. Lol dont worry about it
6. anyone know if the blend pot needs to be 50K if the rest of my pots are 50K?
7. sorry i dont think i can get the money! If i do though i'll let you know
8. well nobody is gonna be interested in mine now! Thanks a bunch
9. That's pretty cool, i prefer master and blend too, actually you have a PM B2BM!
10. Fair enough. Future tip to bear in mind: Soldering iron = hot!! I've disregarded this useful nugget of information before while being a bit careless about where i put my hands in relation to a heated up soldering iron before
11. That's cool dude, i'm glad you've got it back going again, even if it was only a couple of days. Where are you based mate? I may be inclined to come visit you one day and perhaps take you up on this basschatter discount once you get back on your feet good luck!
12. That looks rather nice, i was thinking black plate, but gold looks pretty good
13. what colours do they come in?
14. Wow, a sabre owner actually asking for a realistic price! Good luck with the sale mate Nice bass that.
15. Aye, no worries, to me it looks like the same jack socket as the one on my SUB bass which should be the same as the one on the current ray, they haven't changed the circuit board in years so you should be able to get a correct replacement.
16. cool, but i thought you wanted black?
17. No i don't, but i use it more than i use the G&L, that's why it has to go. Not to mention i wouldn't get much money for the tobias judging by the last one that was sold here. The tobias means more to me anyway, was my first 'good' bass
18. Oh wow that looks really nice! And there should be a decent enough cavity, it fits an active musicman preamp in it, which is pretty hefty and there's a battery compartment on the back so it should be fine. Although the preamp i may be getting is 18V so i'll have to make that route even bigger and buy a double battery compartment. By the way, where did you get the side jack plate for that OLP? I have one but it's a bit big.
19. I'm pretty happy with the bridge now i think, i don't think a badass would quite look right. Also what do you want to know about the control cavity? pics of your project?
20.
I wouldn't want any furniture...this has to be something that can be played and dinged. Spector Thunderbird, black, black hardware. I'd like it to have the guts of a Rickenbacker 4001 please. And block inlays. I have a picture on my PC of an old trashed jazz body with a couple of MusicMan pickups installed, something like that with a rosewood board and block inlays. P
Wow! That looks really nice! For reasons i don't quite understand, i'm VERY attracted to that bass!
21.
To be honest I wouldn't buy from anywhere else now. The standard of the gear and the integrity of the deals I've been involved in have been outstanding. I wouldn't even bother buying something brand new because the broken in basses on here are better.
Same here, i just don't buy new basses! I can't afford it, and for the money i'd lose from buying a new bass i'd rather have have something used that i know has been looked after and i can get most/all of the money back if i need to, perfect
22. Update! It's a very minor step, but a step none the less. I managed to find some bridge anchor bolts, not chrome, not exactly the same as the original ones (not at all really!) but they do the job and i don't think they look too bad. Now i'm just waiting to get some money so i can order the pickup screws and foam again (my order got messed up) and possibly a preamp, though i'm not sure about that one yet.
23. Yeah go for it mate, i don't think the body should make much difference and at the price you can pick one up for if you don't like it, it's not a huge loss, or no loss at all if you sell it on. You can get a brand new ash body from websites such as WD music for about £180.
24. wow.... that body doesn't even look like it's the right shape anymore... And that's one HELL of a pickup route!!!
