1. If i had more money i'd SO fit that to my tobias
2.
here's my grungy 79 stingray which some of you will have already seen Its not as punk as the others though.
Man i'd love a grunged up ray like that. I think rays look great when they're really beaten and 'mojo'd'!
3. Yeah i know what you mean, i just fancy something that doesn't feel like a precision, because all of my current basses do! (apart from the tobias but that's chunky fiver)
4. I'm sure fender pretty much sell complete spare basses aside form the bodies and necks, can you not buy official fender ones?
5. Why don't you just buy two 4 string basses? Sorry i'll get my coat
6. Actually, my absolute dream bass at the moment, that no matter what i do i keep gassing for again and again, is a musicman 3EQ SR4 in pacific blue burst with a maple board, non-matching headstock and black pickguard. That is THE bass!
7. I think most basses that are active tend to be passive pickups with active tone control. Am i right in thinking if you have active pickups and passive tone you wouldn't have as good control of the sound? EG you couldn't have a 3 band EQ etc, in which case i'd go for the passive pickup active tone circuit.
8. Not sure what that bass is, but it looks very nice now, good job!
9. Ah i saw this thread on the EB forum, apparently EB customer service will set you right.
10. The 4 string versions of those regularly go for about £200 IIRC.
11. If i had the amount of money he had i wouldn't give a f*** about endorsements, i'd just buy my own basses, a lot of them!
12. i've had a few things from basschatters I bought a SUB bass body and some pickups and bits from alemboid I bought a G&L tribute L-2000 from stingrayfan I bought some bartolini pickups from someone on here (sorry, i can't remember your name) I bought an olp neck, pickup, tuners and control plate off ebay but they turned out to belong to kevbass, a member on here! I sold a fender replacement neck to luke FRC It's pretty handy this place, and a lot of the members are likely to give you top deals on stuff, all the stuff i bought was great!
13. Mine was a bass that's a tobias sort of shape with bubinga wings with neck thru with maple and wenge/walnut stringers, active preamp and bartolinis, now i have it, it's not bad
14.
Saw Metallica on Jools Holland last night. Did anyone notice that he was using a Tobias 5-string? Or were my eyes deceiving me?
Oh i noticed
15. Is that green paint as thick as it looks? Also the grain on that fingerboard is pretty nice for such a cheap neck!
16. i'm pretty sure a guy on here is selling that?
17. I may be very interested in those hipshot ultralites soon!
18. 1. Yeah neck is perfectly straight 2. It's a nice bass thing is i already have 2 other musicmanish basses and the G&L just isn't seeing a lot of use. My red sub bass aint going anywhere! that's my baby, and the other SUB bass is a work in progress and should be awesome when it's done, and i don't fancy parting with that really either. Not to mention it would be hard to sell, and i need a bit of cash to get that finished, among other things. 3. The red SUB is just an awesome bass and the tobias is my only fiver and means a lot to me
19. BUMP I'm also interested in trades/part ex's of a lower value, let me know what you've got!
20. For sale i have a G&L tribute L-2000, i bought it from stingrayfan not long ago and i'm thinking of getting a jazz bass or something, i already have 2 other musicman style basses and i want something a little different because this isn't getting played much. For a quick ish sale i'll say £350 posted? It's in a decent condition, there's a bit of corrosion on the bridge and pickup poles, a couple of permanent marker dots on the controls that aren't that visible and there's a bit of ingrained dirt going up the side of the fretboard and could do with the action being a bit lower, but it still sounds fantastic and would play fantastic if i could be bothered to tweak the action. the neck is really nice feeling too. I just hope my brutal honesty wont hinder the sale! Here are some photos, PM me with offers or if you want any other pictures and i'll be happy to oblige I'll also consider trades and part exchanges of a lower value (i need some cash to finish my project) *NOW SOLD!*
21.
They are on Jools Holland BBC2, right now (along with Kings of Leon)
Thanks for that! Just tuned in JUST in time!! Also i'd have been pretty chuffed with that set list, they played some of the better songs off the new album, they also played some old stuff they dont usually play like jump in the fire and a few other classics they usually play like blackened etc, not too sure about frantic though?
22. BLACKBLACKBLACKBLACKBLACKBLACK I think black would look nice
23.
I though this thread was going to be a retelling of the joke about the vicar & the bass player: A vicar was chatting to a bass player at a cocktail party. The vicar asks the bass player why he plays bass. The bass player replies that he had always wanted to play an instrument but could never decide which instrument to learn until one day he was in his local music shop and saw a wonderful thunderbird bass which he bought and has since enabled bass playing to become a central part of his life. Ah said the vicar - "that must have been a wonderful epiphany" to which the bass player replied... "No its a proper Gibson!"
Oh dear god! That's a real bassist's joke haha
