I'm sure it's just me but I HATE that 'Dale Winton' look on the front of the headstock!
Definitely not the only one! It's a nice bass, but i'm not a fan of the aged look, personally i don't get the whole vintage fad thing, i'd rather have a new one... they're just better. Plus i like my instruments to look pristine. EDIT: and it puts me off an auction when people have taken the basses apart and taken photos, why would we want to see that? -
Pretty smart looking, and would probably be easily upgradable, rather attractive price too

It should probably be alright, i'll see how it works first. Thanks for the link anyway. -
am i the only one who doesn't like the way the single coil pickups on music man basses look? they'd look so much better with the double pole pieces, like on a jazz bass.
I don't tbh
Can you T-cut pickguards? That sounds like a cheaper option!
I'm not sure but it won't do it any harm i wouldn't have thought. EDIT: asked my dad, he says it works on plastic too, give it a go! (i might have to as well actually )
-
That looks much better And perhaps you could T-cut the original pickguard?

I can't remember to be honest! Alemboid sold it me, if you're reading this what is it? Also i don't like black hardware so i'm getting a chrome control plate and tuners ASAP -
You also need to factor in that getting your hands on a new Bongo HH 5 is like searching for rocking horse sh*te... and don't even think about having opinions on what colour you would like unless you are willing to wait 3 months
I wouldn't have said they were THAT rare, like some basses, they do come about every so often, but yeah, you won't get much choice in colour. Go for that stealth bongo if you can, though you may end up paying more in customs than you might think. Also my G&L tribute L2000 is pretty light...

Ah fair enough then!

Just so you know you can get 5 string sterlings (you wont get one for £600-£700 though, nor will you get a bongo for this money), you can also get a sterling with a rosewood board.... As for sound, i find the SR4, SR5 and sterling sound pretty much the same. The bongo is a completely different beast though, i didn't think it had as much growl as the others, but the preamp is stupidly powerful and there's a lot of tonal variation there, i think it's got a 4 band EQ or something?

I found that sitting position like in the above post easier to play when i was just starting out, but i moved it over to my right leg once i got used to it. It's just about practice really, keep practicing long enough and your reach will get better etc. There isn't really a correct way to play, it's just how you're comfortable. and FWIW i play with my thumb on the back of the neck and over the top depending what i'm playing.

Just a quick tip, when you're making a fretted neck fretless, use a big soldering iron to melt the fret glue then use fret pullers, should come out cleaner.
If you're doing loads of leads and the like this is a useful bit of kit: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Module...=17m10#overview saves trying to hold four things at once and burning your fingers as the connectors heat up!
That's a good idea, been there, done that, got the burn marks!

Ooh very flash! How much did that bad boy set you back? Also black pickguard, there's something about black/black/maple that makes me cry inside....
I think you should get a better preamp than the olp though... Looks like a suave project, coming on well!
Thanks, and i'm planning to when i get the cash, and the OLP doesn't have a preamp, it's a passive circuit, it's literally just volume volume tone -

Thanks, and i shall do! Also i have a slight problem. As i mentioned earlier, the strings don't align with the pole pieces on the pickup properly, but i'm wondering if it will still pick it up and how well. Do you reckon i can leave it as it is or will i need to adjust something? As you can see if seems to align with the bottom two alright, but not with the top two. -
Nice valve audio amp

I'd love to punch anybody that buys stuff off that website... seriously. -
I voted leave it as it is... but seeing as it cost you a tenner and that's boring, i'd say go the works and stick a shedload of LEDs in the back!
I'd knock up some kind of crazy magnetic induction system - powered by the movement of your fingers. The faster you play, the brighter it gets. The only downside is you'd have to wear thimbles.
LOL :lol::lol:
