Good for you, the guy must have known exactly what he was selling, there's no excuse for it. I hope you left him some bad feedback too -
Timeliness at gigs - aaaaaaarrrrggggh

We had the worst sound guy the other day. It was some kid that was new to the venue that had no idea what he was doing, didn't know the room or the gear at all and they didn't bother leaving anyone that did know what they were doing to help him out. So we had feedback all night, for certain bands the sound was terrible, all we could hear was drums and vocals and maybe one guitar, no bass or lead guitar, or way too much lead guitar and no rhythm etc and he kept coming over and playing with our amps on stage. DON'T play with the amps on stage, play with the levels at the desk! Jesus, he was an idiot. And to top it all off he was just an absolute arse, wouldn't allow anybody to try and give him a bit of help or a suggestion eg "turn the lead guitar up, we can't even hear it", and then he would give certain bands longer to play that he was mates with, and demand that others get off the stage after however many songs, just because he didn't like them. Why the f*** he thought he could do that i don't know because it was up to the promoter, not him. Not to mention he kept going to the bar and f***ing off in the middle of sets when he blatantly needed to do something about the sound. ARGH. Some of the bands there were equally as bad though. This one band was complaining about the lack of people, when we'd given them tickets to sell and get people down, and guess how many tickets they sold? None, because they couldn't be arsed. They then f***ed off right after their set without even a word, so needless to say they didn't get paid (they do it every gig, the bands that stick around get paid, they don't. Their loss). There was another really arrogant drummer from one of the other bands too that was like insulting other people's gear and stuff even though his was pretty crap too and just wouldn't listen to anybody and thought he was running the whole thing, i didn't like him much either. Most of the other bands there were pretty cool though, i got on with a lot of them and just sat down and had a chat with them, i like when you can do that. -
Not a chance! Nooo i aint chopping that baby up. Nah i've got a blue SUB body coming with a few modifications and an OLP neck, you shall see, it has some potential to turn out rather well i think.

You're exactly right there mate, the OLP ones are sealed in glue or rubber or whatever it is (i have an OLP pickup lying around) and musicman pickups are loose in the case (i have a musicman too), not to mention the sterling has a phantom coil underneath as had already been mentioned. Name and shame and get your money back! -
I know I've asked this before in another thread, but is the Cellar the shop about halfway along Denmark St on the opposite side to Vintage and Rare, with a blue front and a guitar shop next door with the same colours? It's been a while so it might have been re-painted since I was there last, but the door is on the left hand side of the shop front, large window across the rest with the counter backing onto it and a central island of amps with SHED LOADS of basses all the way around the walls? I don't remember getting particularly bad service in there before, they weren't offering to rub my feet while I played but I think I got to try a bass or 2. I might have given it a miss because of how cramped the shop was, but I think I remember playing something in there. I remember a middle aged chap telling me how the LTD edition Warwich Corvette the had in the window was a bargin (and probably that it was the only one, or one of only X ammount in the country) so I must have got some conversation out of them too. I've got near terminal GAS at the moment so hopefully I'll get a chance to rate them again soon!
Yeah it is that one -
Looks rather nice that
-
I actually rather like tha p-bass  Though it's funny how the lights and sh*t probably cost more than the actual bass...
-
I want a trace elliot rig i just want a 7 band graphic... *sigh* and of course that trace elliot tone
-
I tried one next to a squier VM jazz with duncan designs... i thought the neck on the squier felt better, better finish and it felt thinner for some reason... The active EQ on the fender felt more versatile though, not quite as bright as the squier though, it depends what you like really.
We would like to invite everyone who has posted a comment here to a real conversation regarding the issues they have raised. Our opening hours are 10am - 7pm monday to saturday and 11am - 5pm on sunday. We will be happy to dicuss these matters with you all and explain in detail the reasoning behind each of our policies. We are sorry to see a small proportion of our 200,000 plus customers each year feel they have received bad customer service, we welcome all feedback both negative and positive. Yours sincerely, The Bass Cellar.
I'd like to do that, but unfortunately i live in nottingham, i'd VERY MUCH like to hear the 'reasoning' behind these policies though. EDIT: i appear to be a bit late! was that an official response or what? -

That is true, but still, you wouldn't treat them like dirt and in return you'd expect the same back. If i was being treated like crap by a customer for no reason i'd do the same back and fair play to anyone that does, but the 'staff', and i use that word VERY loosely, in the bass cellar treat everyone like dirt as soon as they walk through the door, and in my book that's not on. -
The blue SSI went to a fellow BCer; LukeFRC
Ahh sweet, i thought i recognised the bass in his avatar!
-
Awesome, it's all changed! What happened to that blue SSI? Did you sell it or keep it? I loved the look of that thing.
-
Ah thanks, i thought it might have been Volume volume tone, though that doesn't make a huge amount of sense IMO. Is there a way i can wire the pickup to a single volume pot at all? EDIT: duh i just solder both wires to the same contact... nevermind!
