1. Hi, could you please add me to the list? I'll be bringing a Duke ply strung with steels and a cheapo hybrid strung with Velvet Animas. I may even bring my inovative homemade "hang your bow from your pocket" device if there is any interest
2. I've tried Evah Weichs and they were pretty high tension on my cheap hybrid bass. I didn't really dig them, but there is a lot of love for them out there. I've run Innovation, but the non-braided Honeys. They bowed ok, were med-low tension on the bass and sounded great. The low E can get indistinct after a while. I can recommend Velvet strings and love Animas, but they are pricey. They bow ok and have such a great tone...dark and rich but can still growl. I didn't really get on with Velvet Blues. They are made a little differently and are cheaper in cost. Good luck with your search. I hope you get there sooner rather than later, for your wallet's sake
3. I've never had Compass 180's but have run Velvet Blue and Vlevet Animas on my hybrid bass, as well as both Spiro mitts and weichs. I've just bought another set of Animas for that bass as they sound/feel the best out of all of those strings. The Blues were much brighter from the new than the Animas, but they soon darkened but didn't keep the character the Animas have. I managed a good few years out of the Animas with moderate use. I can even bow them. They are a great string but as with all basses and strings, you won't know until you try them on your bass. There's a mega-thread on TB about Velvet that may prove useful too.
4.
Hi Wateroftyne. Thanks for that, I've mailed him directly this time, rather than from the contacts page on the website. Here's hoping.
Please keep us posted with your experience. I'm wanting an R400 for a new project but want to ensure the ordering process is clean and easy.
5.
Would love to keep it as it's the best sounding cab i have, painful the amount of gear I have sold and still have yet to sell but needs must..
Are you sure you want a baby? They cost waaay more than bass stuff
6. I tried a set of Presto Balance Hybrid 3/4L steel strings recently. They weren't low tension but somewhere around medium on the bass. They were definitely less tension than Spiro Mitts on that bass, and somewhere around Innovation Honeys. They are off the bass now so if you want to try them, pm me your address and I'll dig them out.
7. Hey Henry, sorry to hear about your situation. Agents really can be awful and there seems little we can do about their ways. I had a similar experience when touring with a big musical and only took the job on the proviso that if it went into the West End I would be kept on. It went into the West End and the MD was calling around trying to replace me just because "he wanted a change". Luckily there was a network of very nice people that helped me keep my job mainly because they all disliked the MD! Karma I guess Stick at it. As mentioned, you may have more chances being a doubler, but if BG doesn't interest you, then at least you're doing it the way you want.
8. Not sure I've ever seen a cello with anything other than wooden pegs. Have you got any pics?
9. I bought a Boss chorus pedal off Pete. He did me a very good deal with great comms during the transaction, and the very well packaged pedal arrived quickly too. Very easy to deal with. Thanks again.
10. Did you play "Big Bottom"?
11. Can't see any pics, therefore it doesn't exist Maybe try a photo hosting sight and copy the img links into your post. My cheap hybrid bass is louder and richer sounding with low tension strings (Velvet Anima) than with the steel strings I've tried on it. Of course, you'll never know how you bass sounds until you get it set up, but hopefully you'll get a great result.
12. Difintely makes a difference with making sound more natural. It would be interesting to hear how it works in a live situation in regards to feedback from back line, monitors etc...
13.
I believe Rabbie had one but sold it on. He's in Perth. PM him
Yeah, I have it now and it's in Wakefield I think they are somewhat scarce.
14. Of the 3 Stingrays I've owned, the most recent USA SUB 5 with the 2 band eq has been the most versitlie IME. I couldn't quite get what I wanted from the 3 band eq, it was lacking something.
15.
Hi Artisan Is the action on a Duke similar to DB set up for classical/jazz or is it high to allow for the slap?
My Duke is setup with a medium action running Spiro weichs. The Dukes will do just about anything. They are very resonant so you can get more than a "ply" sound from them if you tickle them nicely. Lovely basses
16.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Uber is the top end range and Graft is the entry level range; which one is yours?? Apologies if I have got my names mixed up!
There were Uber Graft basses made. I have one that is very similar to the seller's.
17.
Do not underestimate the importance of a preamp. Piezos NEED to see specific things further down the signal path otherwise they sound ike crud. As I have learnt. The hard way. On gigs
This ^^ Even a tuner pedal will help with a piezo, anything with around 1M ohm input or more.

Met up with Will today to collect the rather lovely Squier Musicmaster Vista bass in shell pink with a fantastic pink strap The bass is great, Will is even more great and a top guy. Thanks again for the great bass.
19. pm'd
20. The Fearless cabs are great too.
21.
It sounds like fun! It was a shame to miss the last one.
+1
22. Congrats again Andy. Enjoy
23. I couldn't get the One10 to work for double bass. After several tries with two or three amps and two different basses, I just couldn't find my sound with it. They are great little speakers and worked really well for slab, but I needed it to double. Glad it's working for you.
24. Bought Matryn's Musicman SUB 5 bass. As mentioned in the other posts, great communication and very smooth deal. Thanks again.
