Greenboys have a very sweet midrange, as in sweet sounding. They will put out whatever you put in, a Puma 900 or GK MB800 are perfect amps for those cabs.
+1 They have a switch that alters the mids to give two flavors. IME one is brighter in the mids, the other less so which is my preferred setting. I use a MB800 but also have used a Hartke LH1000 bridged and that sounded enormous.

Have you seen this for sale? Might be an easier option than cutting open your bass. EDIT. Sorry, just realised that is all built in with the piezo and clicky, not a mag pickup. However, it may be that you can splice the mag into that somehow.

Bought a bass bridge from Chris. Super easy deal, great comms, quick postage. What more could you ask? Deal with confidence.

Good stuff. Nothing like an adventure I drove to Perth from Wakefield when I bought Rabbie's Duke. Well worth the journey. Enjoy.
Do you know if they can be cut a bit if they are a tad too long?
Not sure about cutting the ends. You may want to contact the comapny and ask. They've been quite freindly the few times I've made contact.

I run a GK MB800 with mine, and have used Hartke LH1000 bridged. I also have a BagEnd 1000w power amp I'm going to try with just pedals feeding it. Not sure how big the venues are that you play, but I've never struggled with just one F112. Do a little reading about amps for these, though. My LMII would start to compress when I asked too much of if powering the F112 at loud volume. My AI Focus 1 failed miserably where I thought it might shine. They are very clean, clear speakers and show up any amp distortion (not pedal distortion) pretty quickly. The AI sounded awful through the F112 but sounds fantastic through an EAD 3-way at 4 ohms. Go figure.

Maybe have a look at the Innovation range of strings. Here is a link that describes the different kinds. The Velvet Blues may work well too. Which steel strings did you try? IME, Spiro weichs can cover a lot of ground.

Actually Jaywalker, if you would have included your last paragraph in your previous post I probably wouldn't have said anything. It's just that your post drew a comment from the OP about quitting, where the encouragement maybe wouldn't have. And you should know that all levels of input are welcomed on this forum be it pros, semi-pro, amateur... we want everyone to contribute. But, I felt your tone in the post was a little coarse and may have had the wrong affect. I guess that's my personal problem but I would hope as a teacher, you could recoginise when a little compassion is required and when blunt straight talking is needed. I hope I'm not out of line saying that, just an observation.
That's not being a "purist" - that's just a statement of fact.
No offense, but who's fact? If it's your's then it's opinion. If it's documented in literature then maybe that's fact and let's see it. Not having a go but I'd rather encourage new players and find some way to get them down their own path than set up "rules". * edited for crap spelling
Thankyou for your reply i should of probably done some research before purchasing a Double Bass....After playing Electric Bass for many years i just thought i would be able to transfer my knowledge to the Upright and be able to play....my ignorance as smacked me in the chops really and to be honest I can't see me making the transition from Electric to Upright so will probably have to bite the bullet and trade it in...because i have blagged my way through music for the past 40 years nearly thanks again for your reply....be it a tad dissapointed cheers
Don't give up that quickly You can transfer much of electric bass lines, it's just how you execute them that's different. I play loads of pop and rock songs on DB in a group I play with. Do you have a good ear? If so, maybe try some Abersol recordings. Listen to the bass lines and learn them by ear. Music reading isn't essential, a good ear is.

Some lovely playing on there, indeed.
So I got the set of the Braided's today. I have a Realist Lifeline installed on my bass, so I was wondering if it is safe to attach the input jack to the G string or is there a better method to use?
I think the strings are wrapped and have silk so I would have thought it's fine.

I loved Honey's on my hybrid bass, though I haven't yet tried braided. I've gone down the Velvet road, but the Honey's were lovely. Like Rev, one of my favorite strings on that bass.
Thanks for the reply i will take a look was just curious that's all and trying to save a few quid lol cheers Bob
I think the J-Tone pup on ebay gets some favorable reviews. It's pretty cheap and if it sounds good too, bonus
Thanks Dan my Upright should be with me today so I will see what the strings are like first seen as it's my first time using an Upright Bass and obviously do some research on strings ect. Cheers Bob
You may not know this, but basses like yours sometimes ship with "place holder" strings that can sound awful. So don't be disheartened if it dosen't sound like you want right off the bat, or if it's difficult to play. When you decide on what strings you want, maybe get it to a luthier so they can setup the bass for you. If you are going to change the strings yourself, be careful that the sound post doesn't drop. Keep the bass on it's back and change a string at a time, and maybe place a stack of books or something similar in weight on top over the sound post. Also, the bridge may be out of place. Generally, the middle of the feet sould be aligned with the notches in the F holes. The interweb will help you with that with images Pictures when it arrives please, or it doesn't exist

Just echoing what others have said. Get some lessons and get stuck in. Enjoy

I've had/played both a UBass and acoustic bass guitar. The UBass sounds great but I found I got tired playing them as they are so cramped with the very short scale (20-21"). Plus intonation is iffy. If you're just playing simple lines then it would probably be ok. I sold my Kala and kept my Ibanez acoustic bass guitar as the tone shaping was far superior. At the end of the day, if it's just for looks, get the most playable one for you.
