1. Half the price of a Steinberger XL2.
2. Was just about to post the same item - I suspect crack pipe usage.
3. There was a BIN of £1k on it which has gone now a bid has been placed.
4. Jeez, there like busses at the moment! 5.
Hmm.. 470 quid. Not so much of a bargain... ...especially when compared to this.
Holy crap!
6. I once spent 3 hours drinking with Paul Simonon & never realised who he was - doh!
7. Agreed. I see in the questions part at the bottom one my biggest bug-bears, some moron who doesn't know when to use "except" and "accept".
8.
The original run of DDs - four or five years ago - was basically a Glaub with an anodized guard.
Yup, basically a BG in the classic '57 two-tone P Bass trim. Dan did it as a homage to DD's early p bass he used in the MGs.

10. Agree withthe points raised about it being "brand new", I'd re-word that just to ensure eBay don't pull it. Great bass though & a great price I don't get why no-one has snapped it up
11. The bass, like anything, is only worth what someone will pay for it - be that £15 or £15000. I figure the seller sets his price & if it's too high it doesn't sell, too low & he gets trampled in the rush.
12. "Great for a collector" yet it's had a new pick-up & machine heads & been re-wired .
13. If you can get past the Bongo's looks (which are better in the flesh), it is a superb bass, great neck, superb range of tones. It's replaced the 'ray in my affections.
14. The thing with Fender is that it’s one of the few brands that non-musicians have heard of. My old man was terribly impressed when he saw I had a Fender P, totally ignored the Alembic Mark King sat next to it, it meant nothing to him. My experience with Fender has been one of maddening inconsistency. Far too many basses still leave their USA factory with oversized neck pockets, poor fret jobs & badly cut nuts. A quick trip to my local emporium today summed it up, 5 USA models of which 2 had neck pocket gaps big enough to get a 1mm plectrum in either side. That, for me, is a sub-standard production rate of 40%. When you get a good Fender you get a solid bass that does what needs doing with no fuss - it’s just finding a good one that is tricky. I wouldn’t buy another without seeing it & playing it first. Fender may be paying closer attention to things like wood weight & contouring but their QC seems hardly any better than in the 70s. I’ve returned 3 custom shop models in the past, 1 with flaking paint & 2 with oversized truss rod channels that allowed the rod to rattle when you plucked. Compare that to Lakland, G&L & Musicman. All three seem to produce consistently good products, I’ve yet to find a dud from any of them. I’m sure they exist but they are very much an exception. In that respect Fender are trailing the field and it’s only the reputation they forged 50 years ago, when competition was scarce, that keeps them where they are. I think Fender stopped making guitars years ago & concentrated on making money instead.
15. Not that my opinion counts for much, but I think those 3 Precsions look superb.
16. IIRC, fibreglass body, bolt on graphite neck, 2 jazz type pick-ups, headless, classic body shape. I seem to recall trying on emaybe 18 years ago, the £995 price tag was way beyond my means. Interested to see some piccies.
17. Ah, in that case I think it would be a hell of a good buy for someone. If I hadn't just bought Sifi's bongo I would have been sorely temtpted. Your JO used to belong to me I think. AFAIK only one was made with a battery compartment on the back & I bought it from a guy on the Dudepit. I seem to recal selling it to someone over your way. If you ever get sick of it give me a shout - it's one of my big regrets.
18. Sorry, i meant for a full restoration.
19.
Yeah Kev. It's a great bass, just not the sound for me.
Out of interest, have you asked Rob Green for an estimate to restore it? If it's a reasonable amount it may help shift it to someone willing to have the work done. Also (& off topic) - your DP Osbourne, does it have a battery compartment on the back?
20. Bongo arrived chez Macko this morning & it is a killer. Salute to Si who was a pleasure to deal with.
21.
since I'm in Northern Ireland and get raped frequently by couriers.
Man, that's some extra customer service you're getting there.
22. If the eBay police see it's "advertised elsewhere" they will pull your auction. You might want to edit that bit. Nice bass, can't believe no-ones jumped on it yet.
23.
I have this, and although I want a Wal 5, I'm not sure I can come to part with it? Whereabouts in the World are you? Cheers Charla
In 2006 I bought a very similar Wal off eBay on a buy it now, £800. Sold it 7 days later for £1650 & even though I made a massive profit I have regretted it ever since.
