1. That's a real stunner, great basses, yer Modulus.
2. A Bob Glaub with Jazz taper & Jazz p/up Fiesta red with matched h/stock Tort gaurd R/W board with blocks & binding
3. Hello folks. It's my bass that I have listed on the for sale section. When I stuck it on evilbay I was inadvertently logged in on the wife's account. As a result I get phone calls at work along the lines of "A man has emailed me & wants to know if it has graphic roads in the neck?", "er...grapite rods Dear & no, it doesn't". If anyone wants to view they are more than welcome & I'm sure Eubassix will be happy to vouch for me as a seller & the wife as maker of cups of tea. Thanks though for looking out for Jack, nice to know folks out there are wiling to help.
4. I have a new, sealed copy of Alexis Sklarevski's the Slap Bass Program. Region free, NTSC format - should play on pretty much any modern telly / PC. £17.00 delivered.
5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Precision-Bas...1QQcmdZViewItem So much changed here I wonder how much (if any) of the original bass is left, is that logo right?
6. Just wondering who you buyers & sellers use to ship guitars? I know Parcelforce are cheap but their £150 maximum compensation limit makes them a no-go & the major couriers seem shockingly expensive.
7. Right, due to an unexpected bill I need to shift gear, I'll start with my Lakland Skyline Glaub & may be forced to offer my EA i350 combo that I have had precisely 3 days . I know the appearance of another Glaub will rase a few eyebrows & I'm not looking to steal Adee's thunder. Mine is a 2005 model with the original Fralin pick-up & is in 9.5/10 condition. The only thing that distinguishes it from new is a few ultra-fine swirls in the finish, the sort you only see on black paint in direct sunlight - you know the type. To be honest I reckon all new ones on dealers walls will have the same swirling but I have a reputation to protect so consider it mentioned. She's a light one too, a hair under 8lbs on my bathroom scales. Sound is exactly what you want, pure vintage P bass & it is strung with a brand new set of Thomastic Jazz Roundwounds. Oh & there's a decent Fender gig-bag included too. Shipping will be at cost, the bass will be well packed, double boxed - the works. Cheques / on-line transfers welcome - local trial (Teesside) welcome as is cash on collection, sorry not interested in trades.
8. I don't think anyone was intentionally slagging the bass off. Just making the point that a mod is a very personal thing, some will love it & some will hate it. My 2 penneth' worth is that for £475 you won't get a better bass, anywhere.
9. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ARIA-PRO-II-2-SB700-...1QQcmdZViewItem Really, really like this one.
10.
i cant see the problem. he doesnt say it definatly is a 70s lawsuit bass
Which is why I used the word "implies", which leads me on to....
, just he thinks it might be.
On what basis?, as Bassassisn says, the seller knows his stuff so he should know that no lawsuit MM copies were made.
what difference does it make anyway, tbh? its about the bass, not what decade its from.
I agree, the seller obviously feels it important though.
no ones going to buy it if he says its a crap bass
I'm not suggesting he should say it's crap, he should just be honest about what it is, a generic MM copy.
11.
I'm sorry but I don't think it was that bad. He's not after a fortune for the thing methinks and he wasn't making any false claims. Peter
No, he's too clever to make false claims hence my use of the word "implies". He knows full well it's not 70s & it's not a "lawsuit" bass. Still, the market appears to have determined its actual value.
12. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/De-Ville-Stingray-Ba...1QQcmdZViewItem It's a late 90s / early 00s cheapo Stingray copy. Love the way the seller implies it's some 30 year old Japanese lawsuit bass but skirts round the fact the electrics seem to be knackered.
13.
Hi Harry, Too heavy to ship really - cost would be too prohibitive.
Based on a weight of 30kg, £35 inc. insurance using Parcelforce.
14. Good point, well made. Although I won't use a high output, if I need it to get a good amp I'm happy to have it.
15. Sorry, original post amended to say combo or head / cab.
16. Folks I'm in need of some ideas on the amp (combo or head/cab) front & would appreciate your input. Currently playing a Lakland Bob Glaub & very much in to finger style funk with a bit of slap - think Tower Of Power meets Larry Graham. I won't be gigging so volume is not an issue, but neither is size / weight. My budget is £400 - £700 & one more thing, I cannot have anything with that carpet effect covering because the b@stard cat will use it as a scracthing post! All ideas gratefully received.
17. One of my favorite toys, they really do sound amazing; http://www.largesound.com/ashborytour/sound/brobob.mp3
18. For anyone that hasn't dealt with Dave before I can confirm he is as a nice guy as you could wish to meet & his gear is beautifully cared for. You really cannot go wrong.
19. Fender's "luxury" model Jazz bas, as you say from the early - mid 90s. I think the control layout was the same one used on the Kubicki Factor. Not sure why they never really took off, I guess Fender buyers don't go for the "down-sized" super-jazz look. Fender made plenty of them but by the end dealers were offering huge discounts, I seem to remember Peter Cooks offering a few for like £399 - less than a standard US Jazz.
20.
Right.. now I'm confused. You expect him to abide by the rules, yet at the same time you accept that it goes on and agree that ebay can't police it? I'm not prolonging any argument - I'm just trying to work out what your point is (that's not meant to sound sarcastic, by the way).
My problem is the assertion he makes that he has the right to do something that he doesn't. Well actually, my main concern was that he was misrepresenting the bass but everyone seemed to agree on that score. I know people end & sell off eBay & I have done it myself in the past but I wouldn't be so brazen as to announce to my prospective customers that I am quite prepared to break the rules & that I have the right to do it. If you want to pull a flanker, just do it & don't make a song & dance about it. Now, my real bug-bear on eBay is the fudgers who charge 4% for Paypal when that is the only payment option they offer.
21.
Because it's not the law of the land - it's merely ebay's rules. I agree that eBay has to cover it's back, but human nature dictates that 'advertised elsewhere' goes on all the time. It's impossible to ignore, so we just have to live with it. Getting upset about it is a little pointless, really.
Which he agreed to abide by when he joined & which other members have a right to expect him to do. I entirely accept that outside advertising goes on & have said in previous posts that eBay cannot police it so I can't see why you wish to prolong an argument that doesn't exist.
