I think they should waive the extra £30 for causing you inconvenience, but they are under no obligation to.
+1 on this they "sold" you one at the this price it's not your fault that the one that they had in stock had been sold to somebody else. That is bad communication within the shop and you shouldn't be penalised for their mistake I would go back to them and point this out to them and maybe try for an extra discount for the hassle...if you don't ask you don't get! I hope you get something sorted soon mate.

Sold

Oooooooooh that's pretty. Have a bump on me and good luck with the sale!!
3. What about Metallica "Die, Die My Darling"?? "Die, die, die my darling Dont utter a single word Die, die, die my darling Just shut your pretty eyes Ill be seeing you again Yeah, Ill be seeing you, in hell" Nice sentiment to utter to your new bride!!
4. I'm not a pro player..far from it I'm just a learner But if it were me I would go for a mid range bass and spend the extra on the amp. But I suppose it depends on what kind of sound you want to achieve?? The other day I had a go on several basses 2 with my ham fisted learning hands!! The 2 that stood out for different reasons were a £1300 MM Ray 5'er and a £5oo Ibanez SR 705 5'er. Now here's the controversial part..but I wasn't at all impressed with the Ray!! I thought it lacked something as it didn't sound as good as I thought it would do for a 1300 squid bass. And yet the 'Nez had a lot more balls to it and to me had a more versatile range of tone to it. But like I said I'm a deaf ham fisted learner, so maybe it was just me The other thing is the way things are at the moment with this credit crunch lark, you might be lucky if you are patient enough to pick up some great 2nd hand top of the range gear cheaper than you might do normally.
5.
Good luck in the green channel...
Yeah buy a hard case for her and few leads, take them outside and kick about in the dirt get the "worn" look and then go through the green channel and say you've been gigging over there and that you took the bass with you!??! Stride confidently through and hope for the best
6. I'd ask your mates when you get home to chip in their share cos it's because of them that you had to soothe your GAS attack
7. I know who owns the light up fish bass, the 11th bass down. That be my friend Jan S. Eckert of Masterplan fame!!! It's a wicked bass but a pain in the ass cos it's quite heavy and is a bit delicate, it's had several new tails!!! But it looks really cool when it's lit up in the dark. It's actually a copy the logo of the Headbangers Ballroom Club in Hamburg, where Jan plays a lot at, plus Roland Grapow, (ex Helloween guitarist and founder of Masterplan which is another story in it's own right!!) I think is a part owner of the club. I've seen it in action quite a number of times and Jan is a really cool guy too.
8.
Ok here we go... I paid him with PayPal. email last night I respectfully told him what to do with his cheque.
This guy is a complete twat really ain't he? You're doing the right thing by going through the proper channals on this. Hope you get it resolved ASAP mate!!
9. I'd go with The Jazz Singer, and one of my fav films The Gladiator....Hans Zimmer at his best.
10. Got to be the fastest selling bass in BC history??!! You've got a bargain and great looking bass there. Hope you have a long and happy time playing it!!
11. I know it's not bass gear, but I've got a few drumsticks that I got a gigs. A good one is Eric Singer of Kiss fame. He was out with Alice Cooper and he was messing with a member of the crew chucking a drumstick back and forth between each other during a track, and I saw the crew member after the gig and got the stick from him
12.
Ah, finally I've figured it out myself (didn't do all those 'tricky' licks..), but added some 'secondary' notes, octaves, a bit of groove, and here we go..! Thanks for your help anyway, mate! Btw, everyone, check this song's bassline - it super-de-licious
No probs glad that you managed to figure it out, and yeah it's a great bassline, real groove to it!!
13. Thanks guys, just wanted to find out if it was a reasonable price or not.
14.
Just noticed something worth mentioning in this thread. I just went to a Dave Holland Transcription and tried to read it but was struggling to make sense of it in real time. I then picked up an imaginary 'air' bass (it was an imaginary Wal, of course) and tried to read it again, this time 'playing' the bass and moving my fingers according to instructions. Suddenly, the chart made sense. I struggled to read it without a bass in my hands and could read it easily with one (albeit not really). What's that about?
Some people can think better if they are mimicking the thing that they are trying to achieve.
15.
I got to do it for this evening's rehersal, nothing special, but I'm out of time... And there are no tabs for this... I only need to know root notes - verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, so on... Anyone can help? Need that sh1te fast...! Cheers, Faith.
I can't find the bass tab but I've found a version of the guitar tab if that might help Too Many tears plus there's a vid on you tube that might help a bit?? youtube I've found a couple of sites that have the Powertab version but that is just the guitar tabs, although it has the bassline but not the bass tab unfortunately but might be worth just listening to?? Powertab I hope this might be of some help to you? Good luck with learning and playing it tonight!
16.
I've been to there a few times - good range of basses and guitars.
Yeah and good knowledgeable staff that will try to help you out. They were great over my Cirrus.
17.
I reckon option 3. UK is a smaller market and it's easier to send lots of the same thing.
I agree I think it's due to shops not having the space to stock a huge range. I live near to Nevada music in Pompey and they have a fairly decent range of basses. But they are all the same boring colour ways. I've asked in past about why they haven't got anything more "exciting" and they said the same they don't want to have it lying around gathering dust and then having to rip the price right out to flog it at a loss. That's how I got my Cirrus 5er, (the one that Peavey/couriers managed to conspire to kill, how I miss her ), it was in their sale at a ridiculous price and they didn't make any money on her. They will however do they upmost to try and order whatever you want in, but you are then committed to buying whatever you order. So you are buying kind of blind. I suppose what you could do is try and find someone who has the said bass in the boring colourway just to try and then ask if they can order it in the bling colour??
18.
Hmm, a good price would be £250, i'd say £300 is fair though. I wouldn't pay more personally.
So anything over the 300 mark is a bit pricey then?? There's a Sub on EBay with a reserve of around the £350 mark. So you reckon that's overpriced then?
19. Hi Guys What do you reckon would be a good price for a 2nd hand 2003 MusicMan 5 sting Sub would be?
20.
Why are so many Mark King bashers about, and why do people not realise what a fantastic decade the 80s was for bass guitar.I was still a stupid young kid in 1989,nostalgia aside does anybody agree with me?
Totally agree I was in my early/late teens during the 80's. Look at all the great metal bands with sh*t hot bass lines that came out in the 80's.... Maiden, Saxon. Motorhead,'tallica, to name but a few and the list is endless!!! So yeah the 80's were GREAT!!!
21. I've got a couple of picks that belonged and were played with by the bass players of EdGuy and Masterplan .......I'll get me coat!
22. +1 on the SR series of basses and also +1 on the ESP. I've got a ESP B404 and it's the muttz nutz, a bit more high than the D-4 but most of the ESP basses rawk!!
23. Your best bet is to invest a cheap multi effects pedal like the Zoom series of pedals anything like the Zoom 708ii or the B2.1u. If you are lucky you can pick them up relatively cheaply on EBay of even in the for sale section on here. I've got a Zoom 708ii that I might be selling soon if you're intrested?? Here's a link to the product Zoom 708ii
24.
This Squier 5 string P is starting at £99. Last time it was on it was BIN £135 and it only choked up to £72 (reserve not met) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=170231455130 I'd wager the Squier would be a lot better than any of those cheapy eBay specials.
Bugger that's a nice un, it;s a bloody pity I'm off on me hols tomorrow for a week so I won't be keep an eye on it I'll have to have good look on my return. Any other suggestions??
25. I'm learning and my tutor has taught me the Simandl, (double bass) technique, which means you tend to use your index, pointer and pinky,so I tend not to use my ring finger as much as if I playing one finger per fret. So I don't think it's weird
