Here ya go, £30: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Electric-Metal-X-bas...1QQcmdZViewItem
I've missed it by 2 sodding minutes
3.
i have an old wesley that i need to get rid of ;D just put strings on it badly too, sound perfect right?!
Sam I've PM'd you cos I'm looking for a cheap bass too!!
4.
Got my lemon oil today, it seems all right. A bit greasy, and you really have to work it into the wood. Smells nice though. The bottle says to spray 1-2 pumps onto a cloth but I found it was better to spray it directly onto the board, it spreads it about more so you don't have to use so much. My Precision's a 2000, going by the serial number, and it's pretty obvious that the previous owner hadn't even thought about cleaning it, it was foul. Lovely now though. Can't use it on maple boards, apparently.
Where did you get your lemon oil from?? What I've found out from speaking to a luthier is you can use a light amount of beeswax on natural wood finishes to protect the wood, then every so often you find that there will be a build up of the beeswax and a good way to get rid of the build up is to use lemon oil which will take it back to the "wood" and then you can start again with the beeswax. Is this correct?
5. I would love this but I'm still waiting to hear back from Peavey about the fiasco that's been on going so I'm not really in a position to make a move Just out of interest do you know how much a new body would be roughly? Hope you sell this very soon mate!!
6. I really like this and the fact that you can change the body is a really cool idea!! A body to suit your mood I would love this but at the moment it's a bit out of my price range I think But good luck with the sale!! Whoever buys this is going to get a bargain and a really cool bass to boot!!!
7. Did I read that right you're selling the RKS too?? Now I've got to see pics!!
8. So the Corvette has bitten the dust with the arrival of the RKS. Still waiting for pics of the new RKS!! Hopefully Richard will post both sets at the same time!??!
9. I written a letter to the MD of Peavey UK. Now we'll see what happens!!!! I'll be back once I've heard something. Thanks for everybody's input and support
10. Glad the gig with the new lady went well....can't wait to see some pics of her later on...I hope!???! Definitely a bass porn addition me thinks. Any chance you can find out if the rep has any more lurking around?? :brow:
11. Can't wait for the pics!! Make sure you wipe all the smoltz of it after it's debut tonight though before you take the pics!!
12. Yeah it is a strange shape but it's a looker. I just love the wood and finish....me want one  I've noticed a flaw though it's got no knobs to play with where's the volume, tones etc?? How does that work then??
13. If it's like RKS is like the one on the website RKS ABass Then that's a pretty bass, me like!! I don't suppose you can get another RKS??
14.
I'm a lazy arse at the best of times
I know that feeling But yeah I think it's worth pursuing this further! I'll keep you posted on future developments
15.
I remember reading somewhere that someone complained to, i think, Vintage about the quality of the instrument he purchased. MD got in touch and sorted him out a nice one.
I spoke to Peavey's service manager who was supposed to sorted me out with a "new" one and it wasn't what I expected or wanted in terms as a replacemnet for my damaged one, hence the reason why I got my refund. So it's a bit too late to complain to somebody any higher, don't you think?? Or is it????
16.
peavey going to take their bass back and give you a refund? don't settle for what they have given you.
Not a lot I can do really I've already taken the bass back and I've got my refund. What else can I can besides writing to Hartley Peavey himself to complain? What good will that do really?
17.
sounds like you've been really unlucky mate and properly messed about, I would be fecking peeved about it if it was me who got treated like that. Bass for £350...5 string i presume? you can get a Warwick Streamer Standard 5 string for not a lot more than that (i bloody love warwicks and the 'standard' isn't a rockbass). I've got the 4 string standard amongst other newer warwicks and it's amazing for the money, keep your eyes out and you might be able to pick up a good condish 5 string version 2nd hand on the cheap.
Thanks for you comments mate, yeah I'm pretty p$$$$d off to say the least! Yeah a 5er and that's a good call for the Warwick, I love Warwick's they are so freaking cool, no matter what style you want to play whether it be metal, rock, jazz blues you will always get an awesome sound out of a Warwick. I'll have keep my eyes and ears open, and keep checking fleabay!
18. Well the saga of my Peavey Cirrus bass came to a sad demise today/yesterday. I left you with the promise of a new bass and some freebies. Well yesterday the "new" Cirrus arrived inside a nice new hard case, which was sweet. I opened the case with anticipation and when the lid was pulled open my heart sank, my lovely Dark Tiger's Eye wasn't inside but an insipid blonde T.E. ( OHH no I thought then upon closer inspection I noticed that the strings which I was told were "new" looked like they had been on it for years, the were black and grubby, and totally awful. But I thought I'll give Peavey the benefit of the doubt and took her home for a closer inspection and play her in the comfort of my own home. Bearing in mind I was promised that it would "setup" properly before it was set out to me. So I hooked it up to my amp and immediately noticed that the pickups were set so low I couldn't rest my thumb on them to play, I could bearly rest my thumbnail on them, a great start. I checked her tuning it was slightly out, no great shakes, but the intonation was well out. By now I was just getting so frustrated, so I started to play with it and immediatley I could tell that it just didn't feel right. So I rang Peavey up to find out what the score was about why it was this dirty blonde colour and I was informed it was probably down to the new manufacturing processes that they have to adhere too now!??! When I asked about the strings I was told that they were new strings, yeah right. My strings on my ESP which have been on him since Christmas are in better condition!! And as for the tuning and intonation I was told it had been checked by 3 separate people one who was supposed to be an "experienced" bass player, yet again...yeah right. He wants to go back to school and learn how to tune and get the intonation right! So basically the end of it was I took it back to my dealer this morning and they have given me a full refund. So thanks to the ineptitude of some f%$£&*g muppet at Peavey who didn't bother his arse to package my original Cirrus up properly for transportation, I'm now without my beloved 5 string and I've got the aggrevation of trying to find a replacement, no thanks to Peavey! It's a good thing that I'm not in a band!! This is just what I need. So I'm open to sugggestions of a suitable replacement that I can get for around the £350 mark???????
19. Thanks for that, not it's not laquered it's a natural finish. I'm not supposed to have it yet cos it's my birthday prezzie for Sat!! I suppose that's a cheap gift a tin of beeswax lol

Metal Basses
sounds about right to me, also have a look at the bassists in bands you like and see what they use, pretty obvious but it works!
Totally agree with this comment I've seen metal bass players go through the whole gammet of manufacturers from Ibanez, ESP, Fender, Warwick etc. I think the best way to go is to look at what your favourite metal bassist's are playing then take a trip down to a good music shop that has a good selection and just go and try them out. You're bound to find at least one that you will fall in love with!
21. Thanks guys for all of your inputs, I appreciate it. There's a lot to digest there. It's my birthday at the weekend and I won't get my "present" until then But once again thanks for all of your views and advice.
22. I'm venturing into the realms of the fretless bass and I was wondering what strings should I use? Now I know people will say it depends on what type of sound I want to achieve, flats will produce a more upright bass sound and rounds will be a brighter sound. What I would like some advice is if I use rounds obviously these will mark the fretboard. But I was wondering how quickly will rounds take to "damage" the FB if at all?
