1.
OK my latest quest is to find some strings i like. Ive been playing Elites Stadium 45- 100 of late. If i dont use them i use Ernie Balls niether have ever made me thought 'these strings are great'. Never been amazed by the life span of Rotosound. My mate has suggested D'addario strings for a change. He uses themn on his guitar and has done for 15 years and also on his bass for 5 years and swears blind by them. Do strings REALLY matter? any help what to try would be great. 4 string rock bassing (or near enough!)
Yeah there is a difference between manufacturers. I've used D'Addario's on my 5 which it came with and they are pretty cool, Got Rotosound's on me 4 and that sound pretty good too, also I have used some cheap strings that cost a tenner for me 5 that I got from EvilBay. And these too sounded not too bad!! But I am slightly deaf and so they all sound the same to me anyways I can tell when I put new strings on cos they DO sound a lot more zingier and brighter, but I tend to like them once they have been played with a few times. I suppose it's really each to their own personal preference and a case of trial and error until you get the strings that you are happiest with. What you could do is every time you come to change your strings you could buy a diffferent brand each time until you find the ones you like??
 2.
Thanks Wooks - it's definitely a privilege to sit and talk with some of these amazing musicians - I interviewed Michael brecker three times and I really cherrish that since his very untimely death last year - so it's a real pleasure. I have loads of interviews on Mini-disc that i want to turn into MP3s - I've been very lucky to hang and chat with some of the greatest musicians in the world. And it's a pleasure to share their thoughts on all this music stuff too Cheers Mike
I never got to interview such lumiinaries like Stanley Clarke like you have you lucky swine But I was lucky and privileged enough to interview people like Evergrey, Sonata Artica, EdGuy, Threshold to name but a few. And the really cool thing that I found was they always seem to enjoy their time with me, which is always good to hear! But when I've bumped into bands long after that initial contact they have always remembered me and have said hi how you doing etc. Which is always a nice feeling I wish I could get back into that...sobs loudly
 3. A mid Sunday brunch time bump for a change in the advert's description. Open to offers. Thanks for looking
 4. Hey Sarah I've known some "singers" that can't sing for toffee without having to play an instrument at the same time!!! What you could do is just loosen you mic cable a tad so it doesn't quite make contact and just mime. And if the guys say we couldn't hear you, say it was probably the mix was too loud and it's drwoning you voice out!!!! Good luck you'll be fine!!
 5. What about a Goth glamrock band?? Probably called My Bloody Gold Spandex Cat Suit!!! I'll fetch me coat
 6.
Hey guys I just updated my Interviews page on my website - I hope you enjoy some of this stuff: http://www.munkio.com/words/words_home.html Cheers Mike
Wow what a great job you've got Mike, I loved the interviews:D I know what it's like to do the face to face interviews because I was part of a team that ran a metal webzine when I was living in Germany and I got to interview some great bands. And you get to fly around the world to do it I had to wait for bands to come out on tour and if they came near try to blag an interview I really miss doing the webzine it was a lot of hard work but really great fun. Keep up the great work!!!

 8. What about Esperanza Spalding? She sounds like she got something happening, nice mellow vibe to her playing and she's got a nice voice too.
 9.
I refuse to engage in this debate as it is, by its very nature, sexist. A players gender is of no relevance to his or her playing. You'll be asking who is the best gay bass player next. The best Muslim player? The best Socialist player? The best player over 65? Nonsense.
But you've just contributed to this debate Bilbo I'll get me coat shall I??
 10.
A shop near me used to sell them, I never tried one, and sadly the shop has now gone bust
Sadly that seems always to be the case nowadays And it's bugger when it does happen!!
 11.
It's even better in real life and is light as a feather
Too late I got me Varwick Corvette $$ on the way  I think my GAS has to be supressed for the mo otherwise I'd be on the loook out for the greenie

 13.
LoL, good point Sy I think theyve made a boo boo... They mustve done!? Oh well, all will be revealed tomorrow and if theyre lucky, I might place an order...(although this depends on if I need a new pc as my power supply shorted and exploded on Tuesday ).
So you're having a good week then Hope you get the bass you want....remember the quest isn't over yet!!!
 14. Nevada Music in Portsmouth have just had a deliver of some Traben's Here's just one of them there are few others in stock though I saw them in ther the other week and they looked pretty sweet, sadly no 5'vers which I was looking for And they do ship goods too.
 15.
Yeah you're right Ben. Its not that their not "allowed" to sell it cheaper, but that it would make the product seem "cheaper" and possibly cheapen the name/reputation of the company. The cheapest price was at the Bass Centre, a really well known and long established company. They had it for £629. Which is soooo cheap compared to the £699 (and now £845) of absolute. I dont know what absolute are trying to pull, I'll just go in there and see what they say. Although they have a shop, they have a huge warehouse and primarily trade online. As a result, they said they match online prices... I'll see how it goes (hopefully tomorrow!) Matt
If they try to make you pay the £845, point out to them that you'll pay them £699 cos they've got them on their EBay site for £699!!
 16.
Love it. I might just do that.
It's a pity the 1/2p isn't still legal tender or I would have suggested that as an even better option
 17. Oh yeah I got my refund too. But he over paid me by £3.01 which he has requested back. I'll get it back to him but I might just go on holiday first. I would bug him in the same way like he did to you, ask him for his address and if he gives it to you send the money all in 1p coins
 18.
If you're asking me, I would hopefully be getting it from Absolute Music, down here in Dorset. They were selling it for £699, but the price has jumped crazily to £849 for some reason... They said they would price match and I've seen it for cheaper than £699, even though the guy I spoke to said he would report the cheaper seller to Warwick as they can't sell it cheaper than £699 or something...weird... But I'll give it a go and see what I can do
Absolute Music are one of the main distributors in the South if not the UK I think!????! So I suppose they are just protecting the brand and their sales figures too. But this seems to be the case with a lot of companies that are getting pretty ticked off with shops, (especially onine retailers), flogging their products on the cheap. I heard that Stagg were a bit miffed with online retailers selling the EDB on the cheap! Are they going to honour the £699 though?
 19.
Mine's green but you can't tell in the top pic but here's a better one.
That's the baby...uhhmmm I like that green!

 21. That Friday feeling bumpage for any trades or quick sale
 22. My $$ is a Nivana Black natuaral oil finish, (I should have said from the start...dohhh), so what will be the best thing to use with this finish? Will it be wax or an oil? If oil which one should I use? Thanks for the responses so far
 23. I should get my $$ on Sat from Jane Ten Floors, but he never got the care kit for it. And I was wondering what should I use to wax it? Should I go out and invest in the recommended Warwick stuff which is pricey or is there is a cheaper alternative I can use, eg some clear beeswax that you can get at most hardware stores??
 24. That's pretty  I'm loving the two tone effect of the wood of the body very sweet!!
