1. Should work in some way or another. I used a Marshall footswitch with both a Trace AH300SMX and with an Ampeg SVP Pro, and it worked fine. Also a 1/4" TRS plug, BTW.
2.
Haha, this is possibly the best thread derailment I have ever read. Bravo BC
But there aren't any rails. They're Poles. But not from Poland. Yet still you can polish them.
3.
Nice! My first thought was the 'Tune' bass maniac for those who remember it.
That's what I thought.... Showin' ma age again
4. Fans. All rehearsal rooms should have at least 2 fans. And not the adoring groupie kind. One for the drummer, and one for the rest of the band. Just as good in the winter as in the summer. Better parking, storage, access and security will encourage bands to bring their own gear, so you may not need to invest so heavily in amps for the rooms. Naturally, you'll still need a drum kit and PA for each, though..
5. Does the polepiece material differ from model to model as well as the magnet material? My SR 5 had AlNiCo magnets and didn't rust at all. My Ibanez polepieces rusted like mad, so I reckon not all polepieces are created equal... Solution? Silver nail varnish ?
6. Not a great fan of either. Don't mind it. Suppose I could play it, but never had a reason or inclination to. Same goes for Jazz, too.
7.
Maybe someone should do some bass tone sims too, obviously not ricken#@$&er though cos that would be naughty!
Like the Variax did? Wasn't entirely successful, though, but does have its fans...
8.
A Spector Bass thats not a pile of crap!!! A
How very rude!
9.
I forgot just how good Peggy is. What a player and what a feel
I think my mileage is most definitely varying on this one. The Missus is watching it and it's driving me mental. Someone get that SR505 off him and thrust a Jazz 5 or summat in his hands. Waaaaaay too forward. Aaahh! Thank the Lord! it's finished!
10. Paradoxically, I can only sing and play when one's on the "off" beat. So I'm fine with "Message in a Bottle" and "With or without you"....
11.
nobody asked for an address, or a name. A town, an area is enough. I find it strange, amusing and a little sad at the same time. It must be terrible to live with so much fear of... of I can't imagine what, really.
Nameless fear is the best kind.
12.
Bob
I was going to go for "Gertrude"
13. I knew that Squier supplied Fender's strings, that Leo bought them out and used the name for the "Value" instrument ranges. Didn't know Squier was an ex-pat, though...
14. Excellent! (but I would say that. I have a Vigier, too)
15.
wishface is tBBC in disguise and I claim my free T-shirt!
Surprised that TIM hasn't reared his ugly head yet... Oh! He just did....
16. I have two that are definitely "ahead of the curve", as it were. The Vigier and the Yamaha. Sure I'd recoup (or better) if I sold them on. That said, I paid a good price when I bought them new.
17. Er... Jeff Waters/Annihilator Voivod
18.
Most importantly though, I hope no actual whales were harmed in the manufacture of this bass.
I dunno... Skjold might be a name of Norwegian origin... And then again, it might not....
19. There's nothing I'd like more than to be in a covers band that completely re-arranged the originals. My favoured format would be: EUB (? Electric) Cello Acoustic guitar Drums/ percussion Vocals (multi) I reckon you could take on almost anything and make it work.
20.
Just had a look at the the Transcend roster and there are more than a few people on there who could do with loosing a stone or two... (plus some rather t[s]n[/s]asty 70s porn star 'tashes going on)
Fixed that for you.
21. That's only okay. Some of the "rusted" ones look good because it's obvious that the finish is intentional, and not an attempt a [s]relicing[/s] [s]re-licking[/s] [s]re-liking[/s]..... artificial ageing. Winner? The "Copper" Stingray (5?) that EBMM did. That was nice, whilst still being different.
22. Ooooh! Purdy!
23. How important is tone? More to you (the player) than to anyone else, with the possible exception of whoever's behind the mixing desk if you're recording. I suppose that it comes down to your motivation and priorities. Do you play for yourself, the song, the band or the audience?
24. I wouldn't get too hung-up on pick-up configurations. Don't get me wrong, P/J is plenty versatile enough, but it's more important that the bass you choose is comfortable to play, plays well and sounds good. How it meets these criteria is less important than the the fact that it does meet these criteria.
