1. Ignorin the down-tuning, the SRT is the old Soundgear shape, but curved, the same as my SR1000 Prestige. If I were to ever get a backup for mine it would be an SRT. Lightest, most comfortable bass I've played, highly recommended!
2. Very nice! If I had the cash I'd replace my Deluxe with that!
3. Says Made In Mexico on the back of the headstock, is it from a reissue or something?
4. Karl Alverez - "Serve the song"
5. I just got back from Borås, nice country, welcome to Basschat
6. Can't believe this is still sat in the corner of my room unplayed, never got the chance to ebay it after working away quite often. £479 at the Bass Merchant, £180 to one of you!
7. I play 0.73 Dunlops, light grip high up in my country band, tighter grip lower down in my punk band. Works well for me and allows me to play a variety of tones in my country band.
8. Guy Pratt, without a doubt!
9. There were some posted on here a long time ago, I think there was a video
10. [s]As pictured on my Ibanez to the left. Never really got on with the tone so swapped them for XLs now, free to anyone who wants them, still fairly bright, were just never as bright as I like. Can't remember the gauge, 105-45 maybe?[/s]
11. I played a Jazz in my punk band for a couple of years without any problems, as soon as I joined a country band and started moving around the neck more I got pains in my forearm/wrist. Don't have it with the Spector or Ibanez, just the Jazz. I assume it's from the profile of the neck, because the Spector and Ibanez are thinner.
12. I sounds great with the tone controls centred, so I do all my EQing on the amp, but increasing the mid control makes it sound harsh, and decreasing it makes it sound really thin and useless as a bass tone. Bass and treble controls are fine when used subtly with the mid centred, but not as much useful variation as I'd expect from an active bass.
13. I played the P, but bought the Jazz because I prefer the shape, but both are great basses, well made, US electronics, definitely a step up from the quality of the MIM Standards. The pre-amp isn't great, I'm eventally going to swap mine out for a J-Retro, and the bridge had a nasty rattle, but that's normal for the Fender bridge so I swapped it out for a Bad Ass II. I think they've gone up in price recently but second hand ones usually show up for around £350.
14. Yep, after looking at that SRT video, it's near identical to my Prestige, with different pickups. I like the curved back, that was a reason I bought it, fits my beer belly nicely!
15. Is it me or is the SRT just the old SR shape?
16. Love my Prestige SR1000, very well made, great sound, lightweight, slim neck, and I paid less than the price of a new SR500 for it. It doesn't sound aggressive without extreme EQ (but I go back to my Jazz Deluxe if I want that!), but has a great range of tones. Very happy with it, and will never sell it, because it would cost a lot more to get something of the same quality.
17. If it's a flat body it's not a Legend. Professional series maybe?
18.
We are starting to sound like A Wilhelm Scream crossed with Hot Water Music. I like it...Ive missed playing at ridiculous speeds.
Let me know if you do any recordings, I'd like to hear that!
19. So what makes my Ibanez sh*te but not the Cort A4, built in the same factory, probably by the same people, probably with the same materials? Anyway, I bought mine used for much less than the price of a new A4 so value for money isn't an issue
20.
Ibanez basses are sh*te
Based on what? Clearly never played a Prestige.

Tecamp

Yep I love mine, this is the last amp I'll ever buy, amazingly lightweight and never needed to turn it past 12'oclock, even at bigger venues. Great tone too, rarely touch the EQ.
22. I'd love to... but I'd never pay such ridiculous prices for one evening's entertainment. If it was £40 I'd go, but £75 plus booking fees? And I'd have to get the other half one. And then pay for travel to either London or Manchester. Hm, no.
23. Congrats!! I used to do some promo work for Hassle, back in the days when they were UK distro for Vagrant, they've got some great bands and promote their bands well, so hopefully you'll go far!!
24. If you like that neck, it's got to be Ibanez Soundgear, so have you looked at the higher-end ones? SR500-SR5000?
