1.
Stoo, what sort of pickup height are you running mate?
I've got a Stingray and a EBMM SUB rather than a modulus so not likely to be directly comparable - factory settings are 6/32" (4.76mm) between pickup cover and strings... I've adjusted the polepieces on my pickups so they sit pretty much flush with the top of the pickup cover and lowered the pickup a little bit - would need to measure when I next have the bass in front of me, but I'd guess at around 6mm between E string and pickup cover now...
  2. I get similar things happening sometimes - usually pickup height or fresh battery solves it, but the other thing I tend to try is using one of the effects slots in my MS60B or B3 with one of the preamps which have a HPF... seems to knock off the bits that the amp can't handle without adversely affecting the rest of the sound too much.
  3.
Purple paint and a Birdseye maple neck? Are you freaking kidding me?? Stunning.
It's not birdseye as far as I can tell - it's just a bit grubby... Have cleaned it up as well as I can, but some of that gunk is pretty well baked in by now
  4. Pingu says otherwise!
  5. At work we use something similar to these for network cables - http://www.sharpmark.com/Cable-labels I think the ones we had are Brady lasertab ones, but I've only seen them in huge packs for silly money if you only need a few. Good quality though!
  6.
http://www.performin...es/MusicMan.htm
That appears to be for the 2007 SR5 20th anniversary model, not the 1996 SR4 20th....
  7. Don't get the control plate - it won't fit your bass. IIRC they're sized for the old OLP basses. Didn't fit my EBMM SUB anyway..
  8.
I own two SUBs and a Stingray (originally 2EQ). The Stingray has the MMSR preamp now, the SUBs are stock. It's just different looks, but essentially the same bass.
I've got similar, but the other way round - my SUB was originally a passive one so I fitted a East MMSR 3 band, and my 'Ray is a maple necked 3EQ. I definitely prefer the feel of the contoured body and the unfinished neck on the Ray, but sound wise they're harder to pick a favourite. The 2EQ + sweepable mid setup on the East preamp is an amazing bit of kit, and even more versatile than the MM3EQ - but I can usually get a sound I like out of either just as easily.
  9.
My entry. http://www.youtube....h?v=D_4mjNAksyU EDIT: How do you inline a youtube video on this site? I've tried looking around for information, and all I find is advice to just paste the link into a post. But, it doesn't work for me.
Wrap the link in media tags, and change https to http. To save yourself commiting that to memory, quote a post with a working one in for an easy reminder...
  10.
I've got the same problem, so it's not just Danny. I guess there's been an "upgrade" Videos work in the Android browser though.
Same for me, but there's no Android browser on my phone (Nexus 4 running 4.4.4) so the only way around it I've found is to flip to the full site and open the clip from there. Something similar happens with any other links in posts - it still seems to activate the quote functionality - but then the link goes on to open. Not sure why the result is different for youtube clips, but I'd have thought having hyperlinks nested within each other is likely to yield unpredictable behaviour..?
  11. If you're not overly concerned about weight, have you considered getting a cab with a flightcase? Would reduce wear and tear during transportation, and doubles as a stand for the cab in situations where getting it nearer ear level is more important than the floor coupling effect.... I can heartily recommend Bill's cabs though - I use a pair of Omni 10 + 10.5 (210 + 110) and they will easily go louder than I'm keen to expose my ears to. I'd prefer a matching pair of 112s but it's not an upgrade I can justify spending money on when what I've already got is as good as it is. There's an Omni 15 Tallboy on ebay which might be worth a look - it's collection only and in Bristol, but if it's built well I'd imagine it's a beast of a cab....
  12.
Oh my god, how righteous is that bass tone! Fantastic I wonder what kind of bass that is, a bitsa Stingray-a-like or a custom build? What a band!
You can't mention Vulfpeck in a thread like this without throwing up My First Car and Beastly too... 13.
And now with a full maple neck on it, the necks on sale at the G&L web store.
$30 for a neck? Wow - on sale is a bit of an understatement!

    Fearful
I'm actually thinking about moving on my Dubster and getting an F215 after spending time with this cab. Probably overkill due to the performance of the F115. But what the heck
Wouldn't a second F115 make more sense, or are you planning to use F115+F215 at the same time? I'm still trying to talk myself out of a pair of F112s - I don't really need them as my BFM Omnis are more cab than I'm likely to ever need, and I can't really afford them. Suspect it's only a matter of time before I cave in though!
  15.
..... And hopefully some of you kind dudes out there can help me! Question 1: Tap tempo. I have a patch set up with delay. I tap the 'tap' button on the unit, it tells me the tempo im tapping and the button flashes at the tempo, but yet the Delay does not change in tempo. Furthermore I have a tap control button which does the exact same thing (after I've changed to tap tempo via the 'total' menu option) but again no change in the delay. The delay sound only is affected by the turning of the knob within the certain delay effect. Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to change it? Strangely though when i set the 'control in' to turn off and on the effect it works perfectly well, and it also changes the tempo of the drum machine, so that makes me think its an option I'm missing.
Wind the time parameter all the way up and it changes from fixed time in ms to fractions of notes & will then adjust with the master tempo setting
Question 2: Can I use the 'control in' to make one of the pitch effects to be used like a Boss harmoniser in its 'siren' function. As in, can I hold the button for the effect to swoop up an octave, and then depress it for the effect to swoop back down to the normal pitch. Imagine a police siren if pressed on and off. It seems pretty standard for a pich shifter to be able to so this, so I'm hoping its something similiar to what Im doing wrong with Q1 that is stopping me doing it with Q2.
You could use the PDL Pitch or PDL MnPit effects with an expression pedal, but I can't see a way of pre-programming a swoop to be activated by a button type footswitch. I don't think you can connect an expression pedal and a tap switch at the same time, so if you were to use an expression pedal, I think you'd need flip into looper mode to use the tap tempo function, unless you get your B3 modded so that the tap button above the screen is duplicated on an external footswitch...
  16. I use a GK MB500 (not the fusion) and a Zoom B3 so the only things that don't fit in the gig bag are the cabs. I'm currently using BFM cabs - an Omni 10 (2x10) and an Onmi 10.5 (1x10) which are pretty easy one hand lifts. Still a bit cumbersome for one-tripping everything if there are stairs or narrow doorways involved, but very easy to do the gig bag and 1x10 in one trip and come back for the 2x10. I'm tempted to go smaller still though - I reckon I could get away with a single Greenboy F112 instead of the two BFM cabs. I may need more amp to get the maximum useable volume from the cab though, so I suppose I'm looking at a MB800 or a Tecamp Puma 900. Still saving at the moment though!
  17.
You've added another port and changed the tuning frequency; that might be what you're hearing or it might not. When I took the tweeter out of my cab, I made a little plywood panel to screw over the hole. Paint it black and you'll never notice it behind the grille.
Did the same with mine except I glued and screwed it on because I was possibly a bit too paranoid about rattles. Also, I didn't paint it black because I'm lazy enough to convince myself I preferred the bodged look.
  18. If the nut slot is too shallow then you may need to apply more pressure at the first couple of frets to avoid buzz... also makes it trickier to keep intonation accurate as the string will be stretched tighter. I set mine up so that the base of the slot in the nut is in line with the tops of the frets, using a 6" steel rule as a straightedge. Either sit it in the nut slot and lay it against the frets in line with where the string would go, looking for a gap between the rule and the first fret, or just lay it against the frets and slide it up against the nut, checking how far below the base of the nut slot it hits..
  19. Another thumbs up for the ACS pro-17 here. They go in as soon as the guitarist turns up, and stay in until he's put the guitar back in the gig bag. Or until he's got back in his car, depending on how the practice went
  20. The manual specifies the AD-16 - which aren't terrifyingly expensive - http://www.thomann.de/gb/zoom_ad_16f_uk.htm I was a cheapskate and bought one of these as a spare - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00F5VTPH8/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1 and it seems to work OK
  21.
This why I love Basschat! Now Ian, I've just got this small problem trying to encourage nuclear fusion at room temperature.....
That's easy - just make sure the room in question is in the middle of the sun, and then carefully open the door.
  22.
Thanks Ian. I wonder why the capacitor was added. Anyway, I will do as you suggest, although will leave it until after this weekends gig. Then if I get any bother, there will be a little more time for me to sort it before the next gig.
Are they 4 pole speakons? Could someone have tried to set it up for something like the GK amps which power the tweeters from a separate power amp maybe?
  23. Something like this ought to work..... http://www.amazon.co.uk/CableJive-ProJive-Microphone-Adapter-recording/dp/B007R5WRHU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411031789&sr=1-1&keywords=xlr+to+3.5mm+microphone+iphone The 1/8" jack plug needs to be TRRS - Tip/Ring/Ring/Sleeve so it gets the connection for the mic/line in rather than just the normal TRS type that stereo headphones would use
  24.
I'm sure there's a way to get a 3eq preamp with stacked knobs into an unmodded 2eq control plate? Maybe not the stock pre - if that's what you need
The John East 3 knob 3 band is pretty much exactly that - except it's based on the 2eq with an extra sweepable mid. Best of both worlds if you prefer the 2eq sound but want the option of some control over mids as well.
  25.
3-band all the way for me. Want a scooped sound? Just cut the mids right back. Getting lost in the mix, or need a really fat bridge pup fingerstyle sound? Boost the mids, roll off the treble, and boom. I use the mid knob so much that I cannot imagine playing my Ray without it. And having a side-mounted jack is also a major plus IMO - I hate front mounted jacks, and can't imagine why anyone would want to have a big fat ugly jack plug sticking out the front of their bass when they can have it neatly tucked away at the side.
I prefer the front jack - with a right angled plug it tucks through the strap a little neater, they don't get in the way when playing sitting down, don't get caught up in floor stands... I've got a 3EQ Ray and a USA SUB with a John East 3 knob 3EQ.... I'm seriously considering getting another one for the Ray and leaving the side jack disconnected!
