Thanks for your tip but l usually do that anyway to all the strings at the bridge. I've tried a smaller E gauge 95 and seems to help somewhat but it's not ideal. I'm still thinking about changing out the stock pups for some Norstrands though..but it would obviously spoil the provenance of the instrument which is basically a collectors grade Jazz. -

Cnc routers are magical and can easily replicate any design you want after it's been programmed in. Lovely design though.

I've got a R 400 and l use it 95% of the time..it's brilliant and sounds awesome. I also had a subway D800 and it was a complete letdown when l used it on gigs and rehearsals. I soon got rid of it but instead bought a Orange Terror 500 for reheasals and back up. I love this little amp even though its a D class it sounds great and blows the Subway out of the water.

Fantastic looking bass! Didn't Jimmy Lea from Slade play one until it got pinched? That guy could really play..if you don't believe me have a listen to his bass solo on Dirty Joker from the Play it Loud album. Apparently according to my daughter who plays grade 8 violin, it's based on a movement by Bach. Makes sense as Jimmy started off as a violinist.....l'll get my coat..

Lovely bass with great, detailed pictures. I've never seen a Precision with a long G string screw though. I thought this was only a quirk of Jazz models from late 60's to early 70's due to the placement of the bridge and pick up. My 71 Jazz has the long G string screw which dates it correctly. I'm sure one of my learned bass chatters will inform me otherwise. Any thoughts folk's? Glwts mate.
