Ive recently traded for a stingray 5 after havin gas for one,now ive come to conclusion its not for me.i really want to like it but i cant lol argh. Whats wrong with me?
Ok, I have to step in here, I think there IS something wrong with you lol. But seriously, knowing you just offloaded a beautiful Spector rebop 5, and now you are moving on a stingray 5, is it the active growl you don't like? The rebop is a 35" scale and the 'Ray is a 35", which do you prefer?? I found the neck very playable on my us SUB, which felt the same as a U.S. ray, and my NS2000/5 doesn't feel too far from that so assume the rebop and the Ray are not too different? Tell us more, is it just GAS? Are you searching for the holy grail? Gives some reasons WHY none of these basses were for you, they are both great basses imho. Throw us a bone and maybe we can help!!! If you want an active bass, have you looked at the Fernandez Gravity deluxe? Others that spring to mind are G&L, sandberg or sadowsky they are active basses with their own distinct sound but not as growls as Spector or stingray. If it is a passive sound you seek, have you tried a U.S. fender jazz 5???

Hi Guys n Gals, Up for grabs here is my Schector Daimond Model T as used by Rob Deleo from the stone temple pilots. This lovely bass made in Korea is not a signature model, but is essentially the same bass but with the fuller sounding Seymour Duncan bass lines pickups (think is the spb-2 and sj2b). I have really enjoyed owning this bass, it plays brilliantly with a similar neck profile to my MIM jazz and has a very well balanced sound. You can hear some different tones available from this link, it's a 20 min long video with a few different songs and tonal settings used throughout so should give a good indication of its versatility. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i0SnXAnhK2w I hope Rayman doesn't mind, but here is the link to his original for sale thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/229462-schecter-model-t-traded/page__fromsearch__1 Bass is still in as pictured condition, and am reluctant to sell this as it has been my main gigging bass since I got it last year, but alas, we can't keep them all and I want to go with a different sound. Asking for £350 inc hard case, only interested in Spector trades please.

This reminds me of every hot rod or modified street car I have ever worked on ( there have been a few!). Patience is the the key here kodiak, if it don't fit, put it back in the shed and have a think about it and seek some advice before you start chopping stuff up. You run the risk of having to continue modifying to to suit the modifications as you go other wise. I know how you feel, it's frustrating as hell, but chill out, have a beer and think about it again tomorrow. The only suction I have come to stuff like this is to only use original parts, eg if you want to build a fender to your own tastes, use withe fendrr it warmoth for your parts. It's more cost up front but easier in the long run

Warwick (do they actually sell any basses?)
I love the tone of both instruments to be honest... They are two companies who are definitely producing something you cannot get elsewhere.
Just out of curiosity, anyone tried an mec pick up/ pre in a Spector or vice versa? Would be an interesting experiment -
On the night via smartphone. Usually multiples for the next year.
Les and I are in the same circuit, this is how we do it also. This is our first year out as a band, and two venues alone have offered us three dates for next year. Strike while the iron is hit if possible, but often the person responsible for the booking is not there in the nite. In this instance you have no choice but to chase in the days that follow.
Top job. Killer basses, your's looks the same colour as mine. Lovely deep plum! Pity you didn't mention it, as I replace the original Tonepump with a EMG BQC, I've probably got the old one's kicking around. The EMG BQC is a great "upgrade", especially if you run it at 24v ;-)
24v???? I'm assuming you mean 18v???

Thanks guys, never really occurred to me to look at using the ipad. Might be the cheapest way forward. Use the mac for the big stuff, and just use the ipad for quick single track stuff

Congratulations, and thank god!!! I think most if us have been holding our breath waiting for a positive outcome on this one. Dull strings on a stingray didn't seem to do Bernard Edwards any harm though ;-) Enjoy!
I can obviously see the aesthetic similarities between Warwicks and Spectors (one being a direct rip off of the other) but in sound they have very little in common IMO. They are both excellent instruments but they sound very different.
I agree wholeheartedly, while I prefer the spector sound, but the warwick streamers do sound nice, albeit it a little more "woody", like mike inez's tone on "no excuses" Maybe if I could try one out somewhere I might be tempted lol -
I think their time will come again... They are offering a quality product with a unique sound. All it needs is X from X-massive-young-popular-band to be seen playing one and they will be right back in everyone minds again.
I'm sorry that rob trujillo from metallica isn't big enough or cool enough with the kids for you Rob :-) When I saw metallica in 2010, I was blown away by how many "kids" were there who wee screaming their heads off to every song, even the early stuff. Warwick is certainly not short of quality artists to endorse their products. IMHO, their biggest problem is their confusing product range, and limited access to mid tier instruments. The other big thing is where can you go and try one? I've not seen any warwicks in any if the music shops near me, trust me, I looked. I had crazy warwick GAS, then I saw the light and bough a spector (the original streamer!!!), while bass direct isn't convenient for me, if I was in the market for a new spector or even considering it, they carry basses from all three tiers of their range. The lack of access to their product is what it killing them, the second hand turn over rate is pretty high, and their prices hold pretty well -

Can't afford a new streamer stage ii??? Try this http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Spector_Euro5LX_SE_2014.html Build quality will burn anything warwick are churning out, besides the German made ones at least. (Ducking for cover hehehehe) -
I've been quite happy with the roto's but most of the players tone I dig who play spectors use blue steels, so will give them a go. Cheers
