Hi all, I currently have an EMG BQC preamp fitted in my spector euro 4. While it sounds amazing, I would like to put this bass back to stock with a tonepump preamp. looking to swap, but must be a trim pot version. Will come with complete set of emg knobs as hopefully your Stock spector ones will come with your pre!! Edited to possible sell also if buyer can wait until mid December when my gigs finish for the year!

Hi all, Selling my 4 way effects loop box. I made this myself from a die cast alloy enclosure, and had true bypass foot switch buttons. Has status led next to switch, and all metal jacks. This is solid, and works as it should, and had this running some of the buffered pedals on my bugger board to avoid the tone suck and made a MASSIVE improvement. After £35, postage would be extra, I'm guessing about £10 but message for details. Can provide a pic later, just on my phone at the minute so can't add the pic.

Let me know when you are ready to sell it then!!

Used prices REALLY vary with spectors. It will depend how long you can wait with it up for sale. Not many bassists either know of spector, or don't like them so they tend to sit in the for sale section for a long time, usually with sellers dropping the price just to move it on. To give you an idea, I saw a rebop 4 go for £470 I think it was on ebay recently which is crazy cheap, but would never pay more that £600 for a rebop 4, you can get euro 4's for not a lot more than that, and rebops are around £1000 brand new. Five strings is say the rule of add £100 on a 4 sring price is about average and applies to spectors from new. Would be a shame to let this go, but also a shame to let her just sit never being played, it's a beautifull bass, and I don't normally like red basses!

Does changing the bridge make much difference?
Damonjames replied to Twangster's topic in Bass Guitars
There are so many variables in a bass, it's a really open ended question. As far as I understand it from a science point of view is that assists in the transference of the vibration to the body. It "should" be more rigid than a BBOT and therefore absorb less of the vibration. Which "in theory" should give you better sustain, but again will vary on the species and density of the timber used for the body. People also claim that different metals of bridge/nut can have an adverse affect on tone so who knows, it's all down to personal preference. Personally, I have a gotoh bridge on my jazz and wouldn't go back to BBOT, but the fact that most new USA fenders come with their new high mass bridge either suggests that the theory is sound, or there are enough people who think it is sound for them to make the change. Just do it and get on with playing! -
Fernandes Gravity deluxe 5 string "please remove "
Damonjames replied to patrikmarky's topic in Basses For Sale
Please, everybody ignore this AMAZING bass, at least until I can sell a kidney or first born to buy it!!! But seriously, these are amazing basses, and were rob trujillo's weapon of choice until "metallicorp" stepped in and brokered a deal with warwick to produce the same bass (although slightly different shape). Anyone scared off by the "brand" should fear not, they are amazing Japanese quality instruments, even rex brown's signature started out as a fernandes... These are great basses and at £500 makes it an absolute steal. As I have said before, can someone from the northwest buy it now so I can keep an eye on it? Good luck with the sale Patrick!! -
To save a further thread drift, I have sent you a PM

I'm in wigan mate, but thanks for the offer! The ns2000/5's are a nice but if gear! Is yours passive?
-
Ooooooh, I do like that!!! I really need to try a spector 5 string, but they never seem to come up anywhere nearby! Congrats on the new bass, enjoy!
-
Thanks Rob, that's what I wanted to hear!! I have played the RockBass corvette six and while the neck is wide, it's quite flat thickness wise and relatively easy to play. Just need to find one now!!
-
Hi all, Anyone own a spector legend 6 and care to give me some feedback on the playability? I have a euro 4 that I love and considering getting a 6er, but budget won't go so far to get a euro 6. I'd be interested in knowing the thickness of the neck (as In between the thumb and fingers when playing), or even better, anyone in the north west have one they wouldn't mind letting me try out? Any help appreciated!!!

Agreed, pic please. Open the back and see for yourself if it has the trim!! Massively lusting after a rebop myself

I play for fun (at least at the moment) so it's. It my full time job. So I'm not the final authority here, but I have always been friends with the people in my bands. The danger is if you are close friends, and the band falls apart, or people start acting like a dick, it cuts far deeper as there is a sense of betrayal or some other similar emotion. I like to think that even if I was a full time musician, I would be friends with others in the band, it's in my nature to be that way. I just can't justify spending the time with people I can't stand or have no interest in, but that's me. Maybe if I was getting paid a shed load...

I got mine of a Facebook gear page!

I have just made the jump after pickup up a used akg system. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the tone, it has changed slightly, but nothing that a very slight tweak of an eq can't sort out. Mines an Akg wms40, picked it up for £40, so not a big risk but it will be staying now!

My heart has just dropped. Having just recently lost my 2nd grandmother to this horrendous undignified condition, this is awful news. Being an Aussie, AC/DC is in my DNA, and to think that one if these guys has this at their age is really sad

Bassists are generally such a friendly species!
Damonjames replied to gazgoldstar's topic in General Discussion
Don't you find that even when someone compliments you on a good performance, you are still thinking about that note you missed during the key change into the second chorus, and how the drummer speeded up in the last song before the break, and how the guitarist never can get the rhythm of those accents quite right... and end up replying...
or is it just that we realise no other musicians/audience members really want to bother with us.
I think it's this that keeps us pretty humble! I usually find it's other bass players or drummers that comment. I had one guy at our last gig (a drummer) comment on what an awesome rhythm section we were! Sticks chest out...
