  1. That was my assumption as well, but it doesn't hurt to get clarification before I make a hash of it.
  2. This process, number 3, is also done wet with Tru-Oil slurry? The same process as grain filler but with finer grades of wet/dry? What sort of wet/dry do you use, the normal car body repair stuff?
  3. I know I am
  4. Schones vogeln?
  5. Not with teeth marks, but the Herman Li signature Ibanez has finger grooves on the top horn.
  6. What does it look like end on?
  7. Someone remind me when an 'f'hole becomes a Norissole?
  8. Les Paul style pickup selector in the middle of the circle with massive plastic BASS/TREBLE disc and relocate the vol/tone knob?

    Plugs

Cheers, I'll have a look at those.

    Plugs

I asked this in Technical and Repairs, but I'll ask here as well, if I get some measurements can someone turn me three oak plugs for some inserts on some bench slats that are in the wrong place?

  12. I don't know much about routers, but with a long follow bit could you use the existing control cavity as the template for the hole in the back and just rout straight through? One for the luthiers I think. I'd just clamp it to the mill and go straight through with an end mill
  13. Get a cheap P-body from eBay, fit a bit of timber as a strengthener over the control cavity and follow andyjr1515's how-to on veneering?
  14. "Do you want to build a sno...bass?" I want to see a snowbass 😛
  15. No, clearly not, what were you thinking you complete numpty.... Metal is cut at a far lower speed than wood. As an example, to put a hole in mild steel you're looking at a drill speed of around 100rpm to start with and adjust a bit if it's struggling. I wouldn't try milling 2mm sheet in any case and certainly not with a router, but then I may like my fingers more than you 😛 Go with @SpondonBassed's suggestion and drill and file it.
  16. Would you get the bass you "want" though? If I had to buy my Fender P V again that's a list price of over £1700.
  17. Naming the baby after a bass?
  18. I made one as a school project, but forgot when I put the handle on that when it had a bass in it that the point of balance would be different from the empty box. I didn't use it very much...
  19. The grain pattern gives the illusion that it curves in towards the middle binding, or that could just be me...
  20. Those huge bridge and pickup covers never look right in my opine.

    MBB6 may not happen

I've been away for a long weekend, which is why I haven't responded to any PM's or this thread. Thank you for your kind words and thank you @jebroad for taking on the mantle. Mrs O. and I are emigrating, well, I'm emigrating, she's going back home, early next year which is why I can't guarantee to be in a position to run it. It may be that we haven't yet left, in which case I'll definitely be along, but also, we may have gone or be in the middle of going. We're going to open a B&B in Northern Germany, not far from the Kiel canal. If it's allowed then once we're up and running I'll advertise it on BC in case anyone wants holiday accommodation in the area.
  22. Do I flatten the back of my no-name B&Q DIY chisel before I try and sharpen it? I've got access to a bench grinder and an oil stone, but haven't got one. (The revered parent, who's grinder it is also made a tool and cutter grinder. http://www.lathes.co.uk/quorn/). The last time either of my chisels went anywhere near a grinder we set it up wrong last time and ground the chisel to an angle. Whoops. It was OK to hack out a door latch hole, which is it's usual habitat.
  23. You silly, twisted boy, you.
  24. Boom Boom There. Happy now?
