1. I used to be able to get a pack of sandwiches, the chain and padlock and that day's shirt under the pillion pad on my ZX-6R. The tail on my Tuono is so thin that the whole space is taken up by the rudimentary tool kit.

Celebrating it's 5th Birthday and incorporating the best Basschat luthiers in their very own Basschat Custom Bass show, The Midlands Bass Bash 2018 is taking place on the 5th May 2018 from 1200 to 1700. The venue is Brockington College, Blaby Road, Enderby, Leicester, LE19 4AQ It's easy to get to from J21 of the M1. Take the A5460 and at the first roundabout turn right onto the B4114 towards Narborough. Carry on the B4114 past Fosse Park on the right until you get to another roundabout. Turn right here onto Blaby road, the B582. Follow this road and once you cross the motorway Brockington College is the next left. In the left hand corner of the car park is direct access to the front of the school. If you want to use that to unload that's fine, but it would be appreciated if you would then park in the car park proper afterwards. The room we are using is the first door on the left, just beyond the disabled parking bays. We'll try and get a sign up with an arrow! There is a firm limit of 7 amp rigs in the room but if you have one handmade by dusky thighed maidens that is acoustically perfect in every way then I'll make an exception to the rule! The room isn't huge and I'd like to be able to hear afterwards and be allowed back next year We're going to ask for a £5 entry fee on the day. On the off chance enough people turn up to cover the costs any extra will be donated to a charity voted for by the attendees. I think that's about it, any other information will appear in this post at the top of the thread and then be bumped. Can any possible/definite/probably attendees put their names on the list so we have a reasonable idea of how many to expect.

4. In that case, I'd like to go back to Fear Factory at the Astoria, on the Obsolete tour. Or One Minute Silence in MK on the All Out of Bubblegum tour. Or... or... or...
5. I was at that one, I got the CD of the show as I was leaving. Genius idea that was, shame the recording quality is awful.
6. Does it have to be a gig that you were never able to get to, or can I go back to a gig that I was at?
7. It's a Zoom H4N in the corner just to capture anything we do for improvement in playing or any new ideas that pop out. It's a P-Bass and I play between the pickup and the bridge. I don't *think* I'm hitting the pickup, I'll have a look for scratches later
8. I don't know, how do I find out? I've not had anyone study my playing and make suggestions of where to make changes. Maybe videoing myself and posting it is the next step?
9. Cheers, I'll get a selection and see how it goes.
10. I'm listening to and sorting out the recordings from our last session and there is a lot of pick click on there. I know it's me and not the guitarist. Any ideas how I reduce it, (without playing fingers!)? I'm using .6 Dunlops, too thick do you think?
11. Does anyone else get more excited writing their own stuff than trying covers? We started out playing covers, and to be honest it was all getting a bit jaded, the rehearsal sessions were a nice boys night out but that was about it. We've written two of our own songs, resurrected an old one from the guitarists previous band and now we're part way through our third song. There is more enthusiasm than we've had for a while, there's even talk about finding a gig which was unheard of at the beginning of the year. Once I've cleaned up the recording I'll put the new versions up in the Recording section.
12. It would appear that their sound guy is doing what they asked. I'm assuming, and I don't know, that it's a different person for each band, Black Honey and Royal Blood were as clear as, only At The Drive In were playing through a mattress.
13. You don't think it should have been "Heft"? I'll get me coat....
14. Royal Blood, At the Drive In and Black Honey at the NIA on Saturday. Black Honey were amazing, At the Drive In may have been amazing but you couldn't hear anything apart from the high treble guitar solo and the bass drum, the difference between the sound for them and Black Honey was night and day. It may have been what they wanted but it left me waiting for them to finish, from the singers comments on the lines of "Come on, it's not like we're here or anything" and "Welcome to our rehearsal" I wasn't the only disinterested party in the audience. Royal Blood were OK. I enjoyed them but I'm not rushing out to buy anything by them or another show ticket. A bit samey to my ears, but the everyone else liked them so they're doing something right.
15. I've got a Behringer Q802USB for home noodling and I've used for the local players group to take a monitor out and laptop and radio mic in. Nice bit of kit IMHO.
16. Ooo, you horrors As a technical point that I keep reading about, are the same gauge flats the same tension as rounds? My Roto 66s are 45 to 130 or thereabouts. Do I need a lighter or heavier string to get a similar feel?
17. Cheers, I'll give the Labella's a go. Anyone selling a set of 760FL-Bs?
18. I'm being a bit naughty and lazy here, I'm sure there's a flats discussion thread somewhere, but searching flatwound, flatwounds or flat* doesn't return it, unless it's so far back in the past... Anyhoo, I like a clanky/middy tone, like new Roto 66's. Does anyone know of any flats sound close to this? I've seen a lot of positives for Thomastik Jazz flats, but at nearly £70 for a packet it's a lot just to try out. I had a look in the for sale section, but you're all selling 4 string sets
19. I'm going for us all wearing khaki warehouse coats for load in /load out and then on stage black bottom half and white uppers. No prescription on what they are, but I'll draw the line at someone wearing black speedos and a white string vest. I'm going for an Eton collar evening shirt and cut off combats. It might work
20.
Isn't there a famous comedic character with a pen collection ? i've already googled Alan Partridge ,and Arthur Dent and the Royston Vasey shop owner but no luck so far...
There's supposed to be a planet populated entirely by all the lost and forgotten biro pens. I'm not sure whether fountain pens live there as well.
21.
You know the rule - if you haven't met one - it's you!
Definitely me, I keep noodling in the breaks during rehearsal. Most of the time I remember to turn the volume down or turn my tuner on. It has happened that I looked up from whatever I was playing at the time to realise everyone was waiting for me to finish mucking about and practice the next song. On the other hand, random noodling has created two new songs...
