  1. Whoops, double post!
  2. That's the intention. I tried it earlier with directly plugging the bass in. It's quite buzzy though. We'll see what happens later :-)
  3. I can't guarantee cake. There will be basses though ☺
  4. Quick question, can I use either of the XLR/jack inputs to take a feed from the monitor out port on my mixing desk to record a session?

If you want to use that to unload that's fine, but it would be appreciated if you would then park in the car park proper afterwards. 7. We have this discussion when it comes to choosing songs. On our obvious list we've got American Idiot and Pretty Vacant, on the not so obvious list we have Upstarts and Broken Hearts and Los Angeles is Burning. We've not had chance to try it out on a audience yet, I think we good enough to get by but the others aren't so sure, plus we've only got ten songs :-)
  8. There isn't a dedicated thread yet as I've got to confirm the venue, but expect it to be the first Saturday in May.
  9. I use the second half of my TC Nova Dynamics as a noise gate just to kill off any hum at the end of the chain that might be there from using my ODB1. I'm a bit of a noodler TBH so if there's any significant pause between stopping playing and starting again I mute the bass so I can't be heard until we're ready to go again, but I find it useful to stop any hum.
  10. There was one about a chap taking up DB and getting a dep spot all in the space of a week or something. I've never found it again so I've no idea how the gig went.
  11. I bought a complete PA rig from Antony, and he very kindly took time out of his day to deliver it and show me that it all works and how to use it. Happy customer!
  12. My 2010 P-Bass should be vintage in about 30 years
  13. I don't want to come over as offensive or difficult, but if the thing you want isn't available locally, start your own. There wasn't a local Bass Bash to me so I organised it and our third one is going to be next year. I also wanted a jam night and I'm in discussions with the local as to when they want to host it and we should be starting in the new year. I'm not sure where all this community and social organisation has come from mind, I'm normally an insular and asocial person! I must be getting old...
  14. My budget isn't limitless obviously, but I can comfortably afford one of the two systems I've seen in the classifieds for £750. I'm thinking of the 1200w one in Watford. It's way over powered for a jam night but the desk has lots of channels for DI so I can control all the levels without needing separate amps and I can use it for my own band should we ever actually gig! Am I right in thinking that a DI unit is essentially an instrument to XLR adapter to allow you to plug straight into the desk? Passive or active DI?
  15. Er, right now I don't have one! I'm hoping to pick the bits from the for sale section either as a complete PA or piece by piece.
  16. Cheers for that. What happens if it's acoustic only so you can't plug it into a DI box?
  17. Not that I'm stupid or anything but I've offered to run a jam night in our village. I've got quite a lot of interest and an offer from the local to host it. All well and good you might think, however, I have no microphones! I'm think of three to start with, two for vox and one to mic up any acoustic instruments if necessary. What would the BC massive recommend to cover both those requirements?
  18. I need to work out my transposition though, the first guitarist singer I worked with used a capo, so not only do I not know any Bob Dylan, I also couldn't follow his fingers. I did get some rock n roll later in the evening so could bash out the old 12 bar which was really good fun and look like I knew what I was doing
  19. I did my very first live stand up in front of people and make a fool of yourself tonight at Rushden live music night at the conservative club. It could have gone better and definitely showed up the gaping holes in my playing but it was good fun and I'm definitely going back the week after next if anyone fancies a laugh at my expense
  20. Imelda May I think, last December, she and her band were great, a really good show. I'm hoping to see Backyard Babies this Sunday, if I can persuade anyone to come with me.
  21. Alice Cooper. He was brilliant the first time I saw him in Nottingham, but just slow and a bit boring the second time at the NEC supporting Motörhead. Bit of a shame really. The Sisters of Mercy weren't that much cop either, but my mate I went with said they're either amazing or pants.
  22. The description is interesting, "Genuine Fender Telecaster made from licenced parts". So a sweet wrapper wrapped bitsa then?
