1. Okay, here we go! I’m tentatively offering my beautiful Jon Shuker custom Jazz bass for sale. The reason is that I’m using my Shuker 5 a lot more, and I need to shift some basses and make some money – simply got too many (and too much money) tied up in them. This is pretty much my perfect jazz bass, but I can get by with my 75’ Jazz & Sadowsky. So here it is. Built a couple of years ago by Jon Shuker, it is a slightly downsized (and therefore very comfy and not heavy) jazz bass with a slim neck modelled on a mid-seventies Fender Jazz. The pickups are “single coils on steroids” Nordstrand Fatstacks. These are amazing sounding. Paired with Jon’s Shuker 3 band EQ (with, I believe,a mid sweep in the control cavity, but never had cause to use it) they are extremely versatile. ReviewsDetailsArticle They are also switchable/series parallel, (coil tap) so as well as sounding like a Jazz bass, you can switch to a completely convincing Precision sound, especially if you just use the front pickup. This is an 18V preamp so very powerful and versatile with lots of headroom. There is a AAAAA (5A) maple “drop-top” cap over a white ash body, with, of course, a matching headstock! There is a wetlook transparent blue topcoat. 34” scale – 20 frets. It’s in almost perfect condition – the only problem (pictured) is a scratch on the headstock made my an errant string end. There is a little dink in the neck aswell but I can't actually feel it when playing. The fingerboard is beautifully figured birdseye maple, with simple dot markers. It’s a 5 piece laminated rock maple fender style slab neck. There are blue LEDs down the side of the neck, with normal/extra bright switchability. The neck has a satin finish, and there is a two way truss rod with carbon fibre reinforcement. There is also an Active/Off/Passive switch – and when in passive, the treble pot turns into a VTC (tone control) pot. Neat, eh? There are Hipshot elephant ear tuners (all hardware is black, by the way) with individual bridge saddles. The nut is brass and adjustable (fantastic) and sprayed black though this is starting to wear, but not really noticeable. The bass comes in a Shuker moulded hardcase in matching blue. Basically, this is a magnificent instrument, which I’m not using enough to justify having, sadly. I’m probably not open to offers, but I guess there’s no harm in trying. This is still a tentative feeler – I’d be looking for £1200 or so, and I’ll ship fully insured and packed for free within the UK. If you’d like to come and play it, feel free. I’m in Chelmsford, Essex, near A12/M25. Enjoy the pics!
2. FWIW, I love the ESP! I just didn't mention because some sellers hate people just commenting on their threads with little intention to buy.
3. Snivelling PM sent!
4. Superb looking bass! Does it have VTC?
5. I'd love to play this at some point..........don't suppose you're ever travelling through Essex....................?
6. Are you able to tell me about the controls & neck please?
7. Wow! Looks great. Seems a very good price for an Overwater. What are the controls? And how would you describe the neck depth?(ie precision, jazz etc)
8. I should have PM'd - apologies. Good luck with your sale.
9. I don't think a) that it was a particularly bargain price and I made "personal" comments. I'm sorry you've construed them as such. They were meant to be helpful. This is the problem of buying new and selling straightaway.
10. With respect, I can get this exact bass new for that- might be difficult to sell s/h for that price, in these times I'm afraid. I sold my 55-01 dlx for around £500 and bought a 55-01 regular for £380 not so long ago. Great basses though!
11.
It works perfectly well with regular strings too Mike! I have it strung it as a tenor guitar with nickel wound d'Addarios and it was fine. I woule be very interested in your EUB, can you send me details please?
Sure, I'll try and do it later tonight.
12. Erk, I just saw, nylon strings...this might not be for me :s
13. Would you consider a straight swap with a Bassix Jazza EUB?
14. Oh dear. Good luck
15. There's one for sale near me that I'd probably be prepared to buy to trade with you! What cash makeup would you need if I had an early 80s Musician fretless (identical to the one in the picture I sent you)?
16. Cheers! Looks a little big for me, I think. Good luck with the sale. Just reread my post and I didn't mean to be so grumpy!
17. I don't understand how you expect to make a sale without indicating a price? I presume you have a price, but the potential buyer has to go the effort of PMing you? Sort of puts me off a bit! Nice bass though.
18. I'm quite interested in this....did you sort out the problem with the A string that you wrote about on the DB/EUB forum? If so, what did you do?
19. Great for sale thread! Good luck!
20. PM me an accurate as possible example of something that you need (description) and I'll see if i can knock something up for you and email it over. Regards Mike
21. Yes, I was thinking the same. Have a bump as an offering.
22. I'd be interested in a trade with the Ibanez plus obviously cash your way!
23. I've seen Paul Turner play Alleve Copollo Basses but not sure if he used them in the studio.
24. Still sort of want to buy this...wish I had something of interest to trade!
