1.
Always best to have a matching pair so you know what sound you're gonna get. Different drivers can result in unpredictable sounds from venue to venue.
I used to think that way until I got both of my newish rigs (Staccato/RS210&212 and backup BH500/BC210 BC212) then again I used to think huge great Ampeg fridges with a massive heavy tube amp were a must for every gig too. I believe that these were designed by TC and their speaker division Tannoy to be mixed and matched also. When you think about it my PA is different driver sizes for tops and sub...
Looks a nice amp. Anyone care to elaborate on what it sounds like?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrtVa0oQk1Q good video with Uriah Duffy who allegedly was in Whitesnake once, whoever they were IMHO it's the best sounding cheapish amp out there. Looks like this offer is also available from other dealers too not just GAK http://www.dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/tc-elect...-bc210-cab.html
 2. I've already got one of these as a backup to my lovely Staccato rig but as was browsing a few music store sites yesterday I came up with this: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/tc-electronic-bc50...-amp-head/50706 That's seriously good value for anyone looking for a powerful complete rig (and although heavier than the rh stuff the weight is nothing really trust me!) I haven't seen anyone mention this on here, thought I'd bring it up!
 3. Agreed www.allparts.uk.com is good for most stuff, www.hotroxuk.com also have sorted a few bits for me from time to time too
 4.
a warranty repair would be a pain.
Actually based on the serial number (TC Electronics would know where it came from) I think any repair would be a pain even if you offered to pay for it.
Im sure TC would sort you out.
What makes you think that? I'm absolutely sure TC Electronics' service department in Denmark wouldn't if they knew this was a grey import and neither would any dealer either. It's very clear on the TC Electronics website "The product warranty is only valid in the country where the product was purchased" You pays your money and you takes your risk. I'd still ask a local dealer for a deal myself letting them know what I'm considering doing
 5.
I decided to buy an RH450 from a dealer in the US.
Welcome to the club they really are fantastic amps
What is also puzzling is that I didn't have to pay for import duty either, although I kind of expect I'll get an invoice for it in the post. I also bought an RC4 controller from them, which was less of a bargain, and which was sent this morning so I can't report on that yet.
You'll probably not get that delivered until you pay for the duty/VAT on both Personally I wouldn't have done this but each to their own. Just remember it will have to go back to the states for any repair work in the event it's ever needed (and that will cost much more than any savings you made)
 6.
If you declare bringing it in you'll have to pay 20% VAT and possibly some duty... You'll end up saving £100 tops, unless you want to risk HMCE smacking your bottom.. And you'll want to think about warranty issues, unless TC have a worldwide warranty policy...
£999 USD = £610 approx right now, plus don't forget your credit card card charge on top. + Import duty of about 3% then 20% VAT so a grand total of around £760. Customs are getting very wise to new products coming in, they can check serial numbers and EAN codes to see if it is a new product or not. Trust me I got caught a few years ago with something similar and you don't want to see what the fine would be! http://www.tcelectronic.com/warranty.asp
The product warranty is only valid in the country where the product was purchased.
A number of years ago I used to work in the trade so I know that this is the case with most stuff brought into the states so won't just be relevant to TC Electronics. Is it really worth the hassle to save such a relatively little amount on something that is so much money? Not only that but why not ask one of the decent dealers Like Mark or Darren to see what deal they can do? That's what I would do myself, support a decent shop that without them being there you wouldn't get to see these products... Better piece of mind too
 7. IMHO you could do no worse than taking a look @ the BH500/210 rig from TC Electronics and it also will fit your budget easily even brand new. you could always add another cab later for the full oomph. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrtVa0oQk1Q I've just picked one up as a back up to my Staccato and it's absolutely awesome! Not as lightweight as the RH stuff but half the price and not at all heavy really in fact its definately sooooo much lighter than the Ashdown stuff you mentioned earlier. Don't forget with all the extras like spectracomp and tubetune and you probably won't need to use the other pedals either so less to carry! Mark @ Bass Direct also says it's the best bang for the buck too http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...0+Cabinets.html Hope this helps
 8. Picked up my Staccato '51 yesterday and sold my RH450 head last night. I always loved the RH450 and until this it was the best amp I'd ever owned. However this is a bit "snappier" and suits my playing style better although I'm no Rocco Prestia just a massive fan! It's definately not just an eq preset as it responds diferently with attack. The red case looks really cool. I'm giging it tonight so will let you know how it goes.
 9. Sold the RH450 head last night. Picked up my Staccato '51 yesterday and yes it is worth it at least to me. I always loved the RH450 and until this was the best amp I'd ever owned but this is a bit "snappier" and suits my playing style better although I'm no Rocco Prestia! It's definately not just an eq preset as it responds diferently. The red case looks really cool. I'm giging it tonight so will let you know how it goes.
 10.
Yes, I was thinking the same. Have a bump as an offering.
All will be revealed I'm sure in the fullness of time I pick mine up tomorrow...
 11. As you're not far from him go and see Mark down @ Bass Direct and actually try some amps! He's only about a hour or so down the M40 from you but prepare to bring your wallet as you'll find what you want...
 12. TC Electronic RH450 as new. SOLD thanks You know this head it's the bees knees! Sounds much louder than the 450w would suggest (Ithink TC were a bit too honest here) and is the best amp I've ever owned. I'm based in Kent and pickup if preferable. Only selling as I'm going for the new red/custom artist version coming out shortly and I'm a huge fan of this player... Please note no footswitch as I'm keeping it. It's 3 months old in extremely good condition. http://www.tcelectronic.com/rh450.asp
